제 9 장
날 때부터 맹인 된 사람을 고치시다
1 예수께서 길을 가실 때에 날 때부터 맹인 된 사람을 보신지라
2 제자들이 물어 이르되 랍비여 이 사람이 맹인으로 난 것이 누구의 죄로 인함이니이까 자기니이까 그의 부모니이까
3 예수께서 대답하시되 이 사람이나 그 부모의 죄로 인한 것이 아니라 그에게서 하나님이 하시는 일을 나타내고자 하심이라
4 때가 아직 낮이매 나를 보내신 이의 일을 우리가 하여야 하리라 밤이 오리니 그 때는 아무도 일할 수 없느니라
5 내가 세상에 있는 동안에는 세상의 빛이로라
6 이 말씀을 하시고 땅에 침을 뱉어 진흙을 이겨 그의 눈에 바르시고
7 이르시되 실로암 못에 가서 씻으라 하시니 (실로암은 번역하면 보냄을 받았다는 뜻이라) 이에 가서 씻고 밝은 눈으로 왔더라
8 이웃 사람들과 전에 그가 걸인인 것을 보았던 사람들이 이르되 이는 앉아서 구걸하던 자가 아니냐
9 어떤 사람은 그 사람이라 하며 어떤 사람은 아니라 그와 비슷하다 하거늘 자기 말은 내가 그라 하니
10 그들이 묻되 그러면 네 눈이 어떻게 떠졌느냐
11 대답하되 예수라 하는 그 사람이 진흙을 이겨 내 눈에 바르고 나더러 실로암에 가서 씻으라 하기에 가서 씻었더니 보게 되었노라
12 그들이 이르되 그가 어디 있느냐 이르되 알지 못하노라 하니라
보게 된 맹인과 바리새인들
13 그들이 전에 맹인이었던 사람을 데리고 바리새인들에게 갔더라
14 예수께서 진흙을 이겨 눈을 뜨게 하신 날은 안식일이라
15 그러므로 바리새인들도 그가 어떻게 보게 되었는지를 물으니 이르되 그 사람이 진흙을 내 눈에 바르매 내가 씻고 보나이다 하니
16 바리새인 중에 어떤 사람은 말하되 이 사람이 안식일을 지키지 아니하니 하나님께로부터 온 자가 아니라 하며 어떤 사람은 말하되 죄인으로서 어떻게 이러한 표적을 행하겠느냐 하여 그들 중에 분쟁이 있었더니
17 이에 맹인되었던 자에게 다시 묻되 그 사람이 네 눈을 뜨게 하였으니 너는 그를 어떠한 사람이라 하느냐 대답하되 선지자니이다 하니
18 유대인들이 그가 맹인으로 있다가 보게 된 것을 믿지 아니하고 그 부모를 불러 묻되
19 이는 너희 말에 맹인으로 났다 하는 너희 아들이냐 그러면 지금은 어떻게 해서 보느냐
20 그 부모가 대답하여 이르되 이 사람이 우리 아들인 것과 맹인으로 난 것을 아나이다
21 그러나 지금 어떻게 해서 보는지 또는 누가 그 눈을 뜨게 하였는지 우리는 알지 못하나이다 그에게 물어 보소서 그가 장성하였으니 자기 일을 말하리이다
22 그 부모가 이렇게 말한 것은 이미 유대인들이 누구든지 예수를 그리스도로 시인하는 자는 출교하기로 결의하였으므로 그들을 무서워함이러라
23 이러므로 그 부모가 말하기를 그가 장성하였으니 그에게 물어 보소서 하였더라
24 이에 그들이 맹인이었던 사람을 두 번째 불러 이르되 너는 하나님께 영광을 돌리라 우리는 이 사람이 죄인인 줄 아노라
25 대답하되 그가 죄인인지 내가 알지 못하나 한 가지 아는 것은 내가 맹인으로 있다가 지금 보는 그것이니이다
26 그들이 이르되 그 사람이 네게 무엇을 하였느냐 어떻게 네 눈을 뜨게 하였느냐
27 대답하되 내가 이미 일렀어도 듣지 아니하고 어찌하여 다시 듣고자 하나이까 당신들도 그의 제자가 되려 하나이까
28 그들이 욕하여 이르되 너는 그의 제자이나 우리는 모세의 제자라
29 하나님이 모세에게는 말씀하신 줄을 우리가 알거니와 이 사람은 어디서 왔는지 알지 못하노라
30 그 사람이 대답하여 이르되 이상하다 이 사람이 내 눈을 뜨게 하였으되 당신들은 그가 어디서 왔는지 알지 못하는도다
31 하나님이 죄인의 말을 듣지 아니하시고 경건하여 그의 뜻대로 행하는 자의 말은 들으시는 줄을 우리가 아나이다
32 창세 이후로 맹인으로 난 자의 눈을 뜨게 하였다 함을 듣지 못하였으니
33 이 사람이 하나님께로부터 오지 아니하였으면 아무 일도 할 수 없으리이다
34 그들이 대답하여 이르되 네가 온전히 죄 가운데서 나서 우리를 가르치느냐 하고 이에 쫓아내어 보내니라
맹인이 되었더라면 죄가 없으려니와
35 예수께서 그들이 그 사람을 쫓아냈다 하는 말을 들으셨더니 그를 만나사 이르시되 네가 인자를 믿느냐
36 대답하여 이르되 주여 그가 누구시오니이까 내가 믿고자 하나이다
37 예수께서 이르시되 네가 그를 보았거니와 지금 너와 말하는 자가 그이니라
38 이르되 주여 내가 믿나이다 하고 절하는지라
39 예수께서 이르시되 내가 심판하러 이 세상에 왔으니 보지 못하는 자들은 보게 하고 보는 자들은 맹인이 되게 하려 함이라 하시니
40 바리새인 중에 예수와 함께 있던 자들이 이 말씀을 듣고 이르되 우리도 맹인인가
41 예수께서 이르시되 너희가 맹인이 되었더라면 죄가 없으려니와 본다고 하니 너희 죄가 그대로 있느니라
CAPÍTULO 9
Jesús sana a un hombre ciego de nacimiento en un día de reposo — Los judíos le acusan de violar el día de reposo — Él los reprende por su ceguera espiritual.
1 Al pasar Jesús, vio a un hombre ciego de nacimiento.
2 Y le preguntaron sus discípulos, diciendo: Rabí, ¿quién pecó, este o sus padres, para que haya nacido ciego?
3 Respondió Jesús: Ni este pecó ni sus padres, sino que fue para que las obras de Dios se manifestasen en él.
4 Yo tengo que hacer las obras del que me envió, entretanto que dure el día; la noche viene cuando nadie puede trabajar.
5 Entretanto que estoy en el mundo, luz soy del mundo.
6 Dicho esto, escupió en tierra, e hizo lodo con la saliva, y untó con el lodo los ojos del ciego
7 y le dijo: Ve, lávate en el estanque de Siloé (que significa Enviado). Entonces fue y se lavó; y cuando regresó, ya veía.
8 Entonces los vecinos y los que antes habían visto que era ciego decían: ¿No es este el que se sentaba y mendigaba?
9 Unos decían: Este es; y otros: A él se parece. Él decía: Yo soy.
10 Y le dijeron: ¿Cómo te fueron abiertos los ojos?
11 Respondió él y dijo: El hombre que se llama Jesús hizo lodo, y me untó los ojos y me dijo: Ve al Siloé y lávate. Y fui, y me lavé y recibí la vista.
12 Entonces le dijeron: ¿Dónde está él? Él dijo: No lo sé.
13 Llevaron ante los fariseos al que había sido ciego.
14 Y era el día de reposo cuando Jesús había hecho el lodo y le había abierto los ojos.
15 Volvieron, pues, a preguntarle también los fariseos de qué manera había recibido la vista. Y él les dijo: Me puso lodo sobre los ojos, y me lavé y ahora veo.
16 Entonces algunos de los fariseos decían: Este hombre no es de Dios, pues no guarda el día de reposo. Otros decían: ¿Cómo puede un hombre pecador hacer estos milagros? Y había disensión entre ellos.
17 Volvieron a decir al ciego: Tú, ¿qué dices del que te abrió los ojos? Y él dijo: Que es profeta.
18 Mas los judíos no creían que él había sido ciego y que había recibido la vista, hasta que llamaron a los padres del que había recibido la vista;
19 y les preguntaron, diciendo: ¿Es este vuestro hijo, el que vosotros decís que nació ciego? ¿Cómo, pues, ve ahora?
20 Sus padres respondieron y les dijeron: Sabemos que este es nuestro hijo y que nació ciego;
21 pero cómo ve él ahora, no lo sabemos; o quién le haya abierto los ojos, nosotros tampoco lo sabemos; edad tiene, preguntadle a él; él hablará por sí mismo.
22 Esto dijeron sus padres, porque tenían miedo a los judíos, porque los judíos ya habían acordado que si alguno confesaba que Jesús era el Cristo, sería expulsado de la sinagoga.
23 Por eso dijeron sus padres: Edad tiene, preguntadle a él.
24 Así que volvieron a llamar al hombre que había sido ciego y le dijeron: Da la gloria a Dios; nosotros sabemos que ese hombre es pecador.
25 Entonces él respondió y dijo: Si es pecador, no lo sé; una cosa sé, que habiendo yo sido ciego, ahora veo.
26 Y le volvieron a decir: ¿Qué te hizo? ¿Cómo te abrió los ojos?
27 Les respondió: Ya os lo he dicho, y no lo habéis oído. ¿Por qué lo queréis oír otra vez? ¿Queréis también vosotros haceros sus discípulos?
28 Entonces le insultaron y dijeron: Tú eres su discípulo, pero nosotros somos discípulos de Moisés.
29 Nosotros sabemos que habló Dios a Moisés, pero este, no sabemos de dónde es.
30 Respondió aquel hombre y les dijo: Pues esto es lo maravilloso, que vosotros no sepáis de dónde es, y sin embargo a mí me abrió los ojos.
31 Y sabemos que Dios no oye a los pecadores; pero si alguno es temeroso de Dios y hace su voluntad, a ese oye.
32 Desde el principio nunca se ha oído decir que alguno haya abierto los ojos de uno que nació ciego.
33 Si este no viniera de Dios, no podría hacer nada.
34 Respondieron y le dijeron: Tú naciste enteramente en pecado, ¿y nos enseñas a nosotros? Y le echaron fuera.
35 Oyó Jesús que le habían echado fuera; y hallándole, le dijo: ¿Crees tú en el Hijo de Dios?
36 Respondió él y le dijo: ¿Quién es, Señor, para que crea en él?
37 Y le dijo Jesús: Ya le has visto, y el que habla contigo, él es.
38 Y él dijo: Creo, Señor; y le adoró.
39 Y dijo Jesús: Yo, para juicio he venido a este mundo, para que los que no ven, vean, y los que ven, sean cegados.
40 Y algunos de los fariseos que estaban con él, al oír esto, le dijeron: ¿Somos nosotros también ciegos?
41 Les dijo Jesús: Si fuerais ciegos, no tendríais pecado; pero ahora, porque decís: Vemos, vuestro pecado permanece.
CHAPTER 9
Jesus, on the Sabbath, heals a man born blind—The Jews accuse Him of Sabbath violation—He lectures them on spiritual blindness.
1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
8 ¶ The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?
9 Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.
10 Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened?
11 He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.
12 Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not.
13 ¶ They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind.
14 And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.
15 Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.
16 Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
17 They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet.
18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.
19 And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see?
20 His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:
21 But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.
22 These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
23 Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
24 Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.
25 He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.
26 Then said they to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thine eyes?
27 He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples?
28 Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses’ disciples.
29 We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is.
30 The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes.
31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
32 Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.
33 If this man were not of God, he could do nothing.
34 They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?
36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?
37 And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.
38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
39 ¶ And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
40 And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?
41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
