제 6 장
일곱 일꾼을 택하다
1 그 때에 제자가 더 많아졌는데 헬라파 유대인들이 자기의 과부들이 매일의 구제에 빠지므로 히브리파 사람을 원망하니
2 열두 사도가 모든 제자를 불러 이르되 우리가 하나님의 말씀을 제쳐 놓고 접대를 일삼는 것이 마땅하지 아니하니
3 형제들아 너희 가운데서 성령과 지혜가 충만하여 칭찬 받는 사람 일곱을 택하라 우리가 이 일을 그들에게 맡기고
4 우리는 오로지 기도하는 일과 말씀 사역에 힘쓰리라 하니
5 온 무리가 이 말을 기뻐하여 믿음과 성령이 충만한 사람 스데반과 또 빌립과 브로고로와 니가노르와 디몬과 바메나와 유대교에 입교했던 안디옥 사람 니골라를 택하여
6 사도들 앞에 세우니 사도들이 기도하고 그들에게 안수하니라
7 하나님의 말씀이 점점 왕성하여 예루살렘에 있는 제자의 수가 더 심히 많아지고 허다한 제사장의 무리도 이 도에 복종하니라
스데반이 잡히다
8 스데반이 은혜와 권능이 충만하여 큰 기사와 표적을 민간에 행하니
9 이른 바 자유민들 즉 구레네인, 알렉산드리아인, 길리기아와 아시아에서 온 사람들의 회당에서 어떤 자들이 일어나 스데반과 더불어 논쟁할새
10 스데반이 지혜와 성령으로 말함을 그들이 능히 당하지 못하여
11 사람들을 매수하여 말하게 하되 이 사람이 모세와 하나님을 모독하는 말을 하는 것을 우리가 들었노라 하게 하고
12 백성과 장로와 서기관들을 충동시켜 와서 잡아가지고 공회에 이르러
13 거짓 증인들을 세우니 이르되 이 사람이 이 거룩한 곳과 율법을 거슬러 말하기를 마지 아니하는도다
14 그의 말에 이 나사렛 예수가 이 곳을 헐고 또 모세가 우리에게 전하여 준 규례를 고치겠다 함을 우리가 들었노라 하거늘
15 공회 중에 앉은 사람들이 다 스데반을 주목하여 보니 그 얼굴이 천사의 얼굴과 같더라
CAPÍTULO 6
Los Apóstoles escogen a siete para que les ayuden — Esteban es puesto a prueba ante el concilio.
1 En aquellos días, como crecía el número de los discípulos, hubo murmuración de los griegos contra los hebreos de que las viudas de aquellos eran desatendidas en la distribución diaria.
2 Así que los doce convocaron a la multitud de los discípulos y dijeron: No es justo que nosotros dejemos la palabra de Dios para servir las mesas.
3 Buscad, pues, hermanos, de entre vosotros a siete varones de buen testimonio, llenos del Espíritu Santo y de sabiduría, a quienes encarguemos esta tarea.
4 Y nosotros persistiremos en la oración y en el ministerio de la palabra.
5 Y agradó la propuesta a toda la multitud; y eligieron a Esteban, varón lleno de fe y del Espíritu Santo, y a Felipe, y a Prócoro, y a Nicanor, y a Timón, y a Parmenas y a Nicolás, prosélito de Antioquía.
6 A estos presentaron ante los apóstoles, quienes, después de haber orado, les impusieron las manos.
7 Y crecía la palabra del Señor, y el número de los discípulos se multiplicaba mucho en Jerusalén; también muchos de los sacerdotes obedecían la fe.
8 Y Esteban, lleno de fe y de poder, hacía grandes prodigios y milagros entre el pueblo.
9 Entonces se levantaron algunos de la sinagoga llamada de los libertos, y los cireneos, y los alejandrinos, y de los de Cilicia y de Asia, y discutían con Esteban.
10 Pero no podían resistir a la sabiduría ni al Espíritu con que hablaba.
11 Entonces sobornaron a unos para que dijesen que le habían oído hablar palabras blasfemas contra Moisés y contra Dios.
12 Y agitaron al pueblo, y a los ancianos y a los escribas; y arremetiendo le arrebataron y le trajeron al concilio.
13 Y pusieron testigos falsos que decían: Este hombre no cesa de hablar palabras blasfemas contra este lugar santo y contra la ley;
14 porque le hemos oído decir que ese Jesús de Nazaret destruirá este lugar y cambiará las tradiciones que nos dio Moisés.
15 Entonces todos los que estaban sentados en el concilio, al fijar los ojos en él, vieron su rostro como el rostro de un ángel.
CHAPTER 6
The Apostles choose seven to assist them—Stephen is tried before the council.
1 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.
2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.
3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
5 ¶ And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:
6 Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.
7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.
8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.
9 ¶ Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen.
10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.
11 Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.
12 And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council,
13 And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:
14 For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.
15 And all that sat in the council, looking steadfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.
