제 8 장
1 사울은 그가 죽임 당함을 마땅히 여기더라
사울이 교회를 박해하다
그 날에 예루살렘에 있는 교회에 큰 박해가 있어 사도 외에는 다 유대와 사마리아 모든 땅으로 흩어지니라
2 경건한 사람들이 스데반을 장사하고 위하여 크게 울더라
3 사울이 교회를 잔멸할새 각 집에 들어가 남녀를 끌어다가 옥에 넘기니라
사마리아에 복음을 전하다
4 그 흩어진 사람들이 두루 다니며 복음의 말씀을 전할새
5 빌립이 사마리아 성에 내려가 그리스도를 백성에게 전파하니
6 무리가 빌립의 말도 듣고 행하는 표적도 보고 한마음으로 그가 하는 말을 따르더라
7 많은 사람에게 붙었던 더러운 귀신들이 크게 소리를 지르며 나가고 또 많은 중풍병자와 못 걷는 사람이 나으니
8 그 성에 큰 기쁨이 있더라
9 그 성에 시몬이라 하는 사람이 전부터 있어 마술을 행하여 사마리아 백성을 놀라게 하며 자칭 큰 자라 하니
10 낮은 사람부터 높은 사람까지 다 따르며 이르되 이 사람은 크다 일컫는 하나님의 능력이라 하더라
11 오랫동안 그 마술에 놀랐으므로 그들이 따르더니
12 빌립이 하나님 나라와 및 예수 그리스도의 이름에 관하여 전도함을 그들이 믿고 남녀가 다 세례를 받으니
13 시몬도 믿고 세례를 받은 후에 전심으로 빌립을 따라다니며 그 나타나는 표적과 큰 능력을 보고 놀라니라
14 예루살렘에 있는 사도들이 사마리아도 하나님의 말씀을 받았다 함을 듣고 베드로와 요한을 보내매
15 그들이 내려가서 그들을 위하여 성령 받기를 기도하니
16 이는 아직 한 사람에게도 성령 내리신 일이 없고 오직 주 예수의 이름으로 세례만 받을 뿐이더라
17 이에 두 사도가 그들에게 안수하매 성령을 받는지라
18 시몬이 사도들의 안수로 성령 받는 것을 보고 돈을 드려
19 이르되 이 권능을 내게도 주어 누구든지 내가 안수하는 사람은 성령을 받게 하여 주소서 하니
20 베드로가 이르되 네가 하나님의 선물을 돈 주고 살 줄로 생각하였으니 네 은과 네가 함께 망할지어다
21 하나님 앞에서 네 마음이 바르지 못하니 이 도에는 네가 관계도 없고 분깃 될 것도 없느니라
22 그러므로 너의 이 악함을 회개하고 주께 기도하라 혹 마음에 품은 것을 사하여 주시리라
23 내가 보니 너는 악독이 가득하며 불의에 매인 바 되었도다
24 시몬이 대답하여 이르되 나를 위하여 주께 기도하여 말한 것이 하나도 내게 임하지 않게 하소서 하니라
25 두 사도가 주의 말씀을 증언하여 말한 후 예루살렘으로 돌아갈새 사마리아인의 여러 마을에서 복음을 전하니라
빌립과 에디오피아 내시
26 주의 사자가 빌립에게 말하여 이르되 일어나서 남쪽으로 향하여 예루살렘에서 가사로 내려가는 길까지 가라 하니 그 길은 광야라
27 일어나 가서 보니 에디오피아 사람 곧 에디오피아 여왕 간다게의 모든 국고를 맡은 관리인 내시가 예배하러 예루살렘에 왔다가
28 돌아가는데 수레를 타고 선지자 이사야의 글을 읽더라
29 성령이 빌립더러 이르시되 이 수레로 가까이 나아가라 하시거늘
30 빌립이 달려가서 선지자 이사야의 글 읽는 것을 듣고 말하되 읽는 것을 깨닫느냐
31 대답하되 지도해 주는 사람이 없으니 어찌 깨달을 수 있느냐 하고 빌립을 청하여 수레에 올라 같이 앉으라 하니라
32 읽는 성경 구절은 이것이니 일렀으되 그가 도살자에게로 가는 양과 같이 끌려갔고 털 깎는 자 앞에 있는 어린 양이 조용함과 같이 그의 입을 열지 아니하였도다
33 그가 굴욕을 당했을 때 공정한 재판도 받지 못하였으니 누가 그의 세대를 말하리요 그의 생명이 땅에서 빼앗김이로다 하였거늘
34 그 내시가 빌립에게 말하되 청컨대 내가 묻노니 선지자가 이 말한 것이 누구를 가리킴이냐 자기를 가리킴이냐 타인을 가리킴이냐
35 빌립이 입을 열어 이 글에서 시작하여 예수를 가르쳐 복음을 전하니
36 길 가다가 물 있는 곳에 이르러 그 내시가 말하되 보라 물이 있으니 내가 세례를 받음에 무슨 거리낌이 있느냐
37 (없음)
38 이에 명하여 수레를 멈추고 빌립과 내시가 둘 다 물에 내려가 빌립이 세례를 베풀고
39 둘이 물에서 올라올새 주의 영이 빌립을 이끌어간지라 내시는 기쁘게 길을 가므로 그를 다시 보지 못하니라
40 빌립은 아소도에 나타나 여러 성을 지나 다니며 복음을 전하고 가이사랴에 이르니라
CAPÍTULO 8
Saulo persigue a la Iglesia — Se describe el ministerio de Felipe en Samaria — Felipe efectúa milagros y bautiza a hombres y a mujeres — Pedro y Juan viajan a Samaria y confieren el don del Espíritu Santo por la imposición de manos — Simón busca comprar ese don y Pedro lo reprende — Felipe predica acerca de Cristo y bautiza a un eunuco etíope.
1 Y Saulo consentía en su muerte. Y en aquel día hubo una grande persecución contra la iglesia que estaba en Jerusalén; y todos fueron esparcidos por las tierras de Judea y de Samaria, salvo los apóstoles.
2 Y unos varones piadosos llevaron a enterrar a Esteban e hicieron gran llanto sobre él.
3 Entonces Saulo asolaba la iglesia; entrando en cada casa, arrastraba a hombres y a mujeres, y los entregaba en la cárcel.
4 Pero los que fueron esparcidos iban por todas partes anunciando la palabra.
5 Entonces Felipe, descendiendo a la ciudad de Samaria, les predicaba a Cristo.
6 Y las gentes, unánimes, escuchaban atentamente las cosas que decía Felipe, oyendo y viendo los milagros que hacía.
7 Porque de muchos que tenían espíritus inmundos, salían estos dando grandes voces; y muchos paralíticos y cojos eran sanados,
8 así que había gran gozo en aquella ciudad.
9 Y había un hombre llamado Simón, que antes había ejercido la hechicería en aquella ciudad y que había engañado a la gente de Samaria, diciéndose ser algún grande.
10 A este oían todos atentamente desde el más pequeño hasta el más grande, diciendo: Este es el gran poder de Dios.
11 Y le estaban atentos, porque con sus hechizos los había engañado desde hacía mucho tiempo.
12 Pero cuando creyeron a Felipe, que anunciaba el evangelio del reino de Dios y el nombre de Jesucristo, se bautizaban hombres y mujeres.
13 Y aun Simón mismo creyó, y después de bautizarse, seguía a Felipe; y al ver los milagros y las grandes maravillas que se hacían, estaba atónito.
14 Y cuando los apóstoles que estaban en Jerusalén oyeron que Samaria había recibido la palabra de Dios, les enviaron a Pedro y a Juan,
15 quienes, habiendo venido, oraron por ellos para que recibiesen el Espíritu Santo
16 (porque aún no había descendido sobre ninguno de ellos, sino que solamente habían sido bautizados en el nombre de Jesús).
17 Entonces les impusieron las manos, y recibieron el Espíritu Santo.
18 Y cuando vio Simón que por la imposición de las manos de los apóstoles se daba el Espíritu Santo, les ofreció dinero,
19 diciendo: Dadme también a mí este poder, para que cualquiera a quien yo imponga las manos reciba el Espíritu Santo.
20 Entonces Pedro le dijo: Tu dinero perezca contigo, porque has pensado que el don de Dios se obtiene con dinero.
21 No tienes tú parte ni suerte en este asunto, porque tu corazón no es recto delante de Dios.
22 Arrepiéntete, pues, de esta tu maldad y ruega a Dios, y quizá te sea perdonado el pensamiento de tu corazón;
23 porque en hiel de amargura y en cadenas de iniquidad veo que estás.
24 Respondiendo entonces Simón, dijo: Rogad vosotros por mí al Señor, para que ninguna cosa de estas que habéis dicho venga sobre mí.
25 Y ellos, habiendo testificado y hablado la palabra de Dios, volvieron a Jerusalén, y en muchas aldeas de los samaritanos anunciaron el evangelio.
26 Un ángel del Señor habló a Felipe, diciendo: Levántate y ve hacia el sur, por el camino que desciende de Jerusalén a Gaza, el cual es desierto.
27 Entonces él se levantó y fue; y he aquí que un etíope, eunuco, alto oficial de Candace, reina de los etíopes, el cual estaba sobre todos sus tesoros y había venido a Jerusalén para adorar,
28 volvía sentado en su carro, leyendo al profeta Isaías.
29 Y el Espíritu dijo a Felipe: Acércate y júntate a ese carro.
30 Y acudiendo Felipe, le oyó que leía al profeta Isaías y dijo: Pero, ¿entiendes lo que lees?
31 Y él dijo: ¿Y cómo podré si alguno no me enseña? Y rogó a Felipe que subiese y se sentase con él.
32Y el pasaje de la Escritura que leía era este:Como oveja a la muerte fue llevado;y como cordero mudo delante del que lo trasquila,así no abrió su boca.
33En su humillación no se le hizo justicia;mas su generación, ¿quién la contará?Porque su vida fue quitada de la tierra.
34 Y respondiendo el eunuco a Felipe, dijo: Te ruego que me digas: ¿de quién dice el profeta esto? ¿De sí mismo o de algún otro?
35 Entonces Felipe, abriendo su boca y comenzando desde esta Escritura, le anunció el evangelio de Jesús.
36 Y yendo por el camino, llegaron a cierta agua; y dijo el eunuco: He aquí agua; ¿qué impide que yo sea bautizado?
37 Y Felipe dijo: Si crees de todo corazón, bien puedes. Y respondiendo, dijo: Creo que Jesucristo es el Hijo de Dios.
38 Y mandó parar el carro; y descendieron ambos al agua, Felipe y el eunuco, y le bautizó.
39 Y cuando subieron del agua, el Espíritu del Señor arrebató a Felipe; y el eunuco no le vio más, y siguió gozoso su camino.
40 Pero Felipe se encontró en Azoto; y pasando, anunciaba el evangelio en todas las ciudades, hasta que llegó a Cesarea.
CHAPTER 8
Saul persecutes the Church—Philip’s ministry in Samaria is described—Philip performs miracles and baptizes men and women—Peter and John come to Samaria and confer the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands—Simon seeks to buy this gift and is rebuked by Peter—Philip preaches about Christ and baptizes an Ethiopian eunuch.
1 And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judæa and Samaria, except the apostles.
2 And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.
3 As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.
4 Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.
5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.
6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.
8 And there was great joy in that city.
9 But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:
10 To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.
11 And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.
12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,
19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.
20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.
22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.
23 For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
24 Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.
25 And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.
26 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.
27 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,
28 Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.
29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.
30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?
31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
32 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:
33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.
34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
40 But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Cæsarea.
