제 16 장
1 마음의 경영은 사람에게 있어도 말의 응답은 여호와께로부터 나오느니라
2 사람의 행위가 자기 보기에는 모두 깨끗하여도 여호와는 심령을 감찰하시느니라
3 너의 행사를 여호와께 맡기라 그리하면 네가 경영하는 것이 이루어지리라
4 여호와께서 온갖 것을 1)그 쓰임에 적당하게 지으셨나니 악인도 악한 날에 적당하게 하셨느니라
5 무릇 마음이 교만한 자를 여호와께서 미워하시나니 2)피차 손을 잡을지라도 벌을 면하지 못하리라
6 인자와 진리로 인하여 죄악이 속하게 되고 여호와를 경외함으로 말미암아 악에서 떠나게 되느니라
7 사람의 행위가 여호와를 기쁘시게 하면 그 사람의 원수라도 그와 더불어 화목하게 하시느니라
8 적은 소득이 공의를 겸하면 많은 소득이 불의를 겸한 것보다 나으니라
9 사람이 마음으로 자기의 길을 계획할지라도 그의 걸음을 인도하시는 이는 여호와시니라
10 하나님의 말씀이 왕의 입술에 있은즉 재판할 때에 그의 입이 그르치지 아니하리라
11 공평한 저울과 접시 저울은 여호와의 것이요 주머니 속의 저울추도 다 그가 지으신 것이니라
12 악을 행하는 것은 왕들이 미워할 바니 이는 그 보좌가 공의로 말미암아 굳게 섬이니라
13 의로운 입술은 왕들이 기뻐하는 것이요 정직하게 말하는 자는 그들의 사랑을 입느니라
14 왕의 진노는 죽음의 사자들과 같아도 지혜로운 사람은 그것을 쉬게 하리라
15 왕의 희색은 생명을 뜻하나니 그의 은택이 3)늦은 비를 내리는 구름과 같으니라
16 지혜를 얻는 것이 금을 얻는 것보다 얼마나 나은고 명철을 얻는 것이 은을 얻는 것보다 더욱 나으니라
17 악을 떠나는 것은 정직한 사람의 대로이니 자기의 길을 지키는 자는 자기의 영혼을 보전하느니라
18 교만은 패망의 선봉이요 거만한 마음은 넘어짐의 앞잡이니라
19 겸손한 자와 함께 하여 마음을 낮추는 것이 교만한 자와 함께 하여 탈취물을 나누는 것보다 나으니라
20 삼가 4)말씀에 주의하는 자는 좋은 것을 얻나니 여호와를 의지하는 자는 복이 있느니라
21 마음이 지혜로운 자는 명철하다 일컬음을 받고 입이 선한 자는 남의 학식을 더하게 하느니라
22 명철한 자에게는 그 명철이 생명의 샘이 되거니와 미련한 자에게는 그 미련한 것이 징계가 되느니라
23 지혜로운 자의 마음은 그의 입을 슬기롭게 하고 또 그의 5)입술에 지식을 더하느니라
24 선한 말은 꿀송이 같아서 마음에 달고 뼈에 양약이 되느니라
25 어떤 길은 사람이 보기에 바르나 필경은 사망의 길이니라
26 고되게 일하는 자는 식욕으로 말미암아 애쓰나니 이는 그의 입이 자기를 독촉함이니라
27 불량한 자는 악을 꾀하나니 그 입술에는 맹렬한 불 같은 것이 있느니라
28 패역한 자는 다툼을 일으키고 말쟁이는 친한 벗을 이간하느니라
29 강포한 사람은 그 이웃을 꾀어 좋지 아니한 길로 인도하느니라
30 눈짓을 하는 자는 패역한 일을 도모하며 입술을 닫는 자는 악한 일을 이루느니라
31 백발은 영화의 면류관이라 공의로운 길에서 얻으리라
32 노하기를 더디하는 자는 용사보다 낫고 자기의 마음을 다스리는 자는 성을 빼앗는 자보다 나으니라
33 제비는 사람이 뽑으나 모든 일을 작정하기는 여호와께 있느니라
CAPÍTULO 16
Mejor es adquirir sabiduría que oro — Antes de la destrucción viene el orgullo — Las canas del justo son corona de honra.
1Del hombre son los aplanes del corazón,mas de Jehová es la respuesta de la blengua.
2Todos los caminos del hombre son limpios ante sus propios ojos,pero Jehová pesa los espíritus.
3aEncomienda a Jehová tus obras,y tus pensamientos serán afirmados.
4Todas las cosas ha hecho Jehová para sus propios fines,y aun al malvado para el día malo.
5Abominación es a Jehová todo altivo de corazón;ciertamente no será considerado inocente.
6Con misericordia y verdad se corrige la iniquidad,y con el temor de Jehová los hombres se aapartan del mal.
7Cuando los caminos del hombre son agradables a Jehová,aun a sus enemigos hace estar en apaz con él.
8aMejor es lo poco con justiciaque muchas ganancias con injusticia.
9El corazón del hombre propone su camino,pero Jehová dirige sus pasos.
10aOráculo hay en los labios del rey;en el juicio no transgredirá su boca.
11Peso y balanzas justas son de Jehová;obra suya son todas las pesas de la bolsa.
12Abominación es a los reyes cometer amaldad,porque con la justicia será afirmado el trono.
13Los alabios bjustos son el deleite de los reyes,y estos aman al que habla lo recto.
14La ira del rey es como mensajero de muerte,pero el hombre sabio la apaciguará.
15En la alegría del rostro del rey está la vida,y su favor es como nube de lluvia tardía.
16Mejor es adquirir asabiduría que el oro,y adquirir bentendimiento vale más que la plata.
17El camino de los rectos es apartarse del mal;el que guarda su camino guarda su alma.
18Antes del quebranto va la asoberbia,y antes de la caída, la altivez de espíritu.
19Mejor es ser de espíritu ahumilde con los pobresque repartir el botín con los soberbios.
20El entendido en la palabra hallará el bien,y el que aconfía en Jehová es bbienaventurado.
21El sabio de corazón es llamado prudente,y la dulzura de labios aumenta el saber.
22Manantial de vida es el entendimiento para el que lo posee,pero la instrucción de los necios es necedad.
23El corazón del sabio hace prudente su bocay añade persuasión a sus labios.
24Panal de miel son los dichos agradables,dulzura al alma y salud a los huesos.
25Hay acamino que al hombre le parece recto,pero su fin es camino de muerte.
26El alma del que trabaja, trabaja para sí,porque su boca le impulsa.
27El hombre perverso cava en busca del mal,y en sus labios hay como afuego abrasador.
28El hombre perverso provoca acontienda,y el chismoso separa a los mejores amigos.
29El hombre violento incita a su prójimoy le hace andar por mal camino;
30cierra sus ojos para tramar perversidades,apretando sus labios, efectúa el mal.
31Corona de honra son las acanas;se halla en el camino de la justicia.
32Mejor es el que atarda en airarse que el poderoso,y el que se enseñorea de su espíritu que el que toma una ciudad.
33La suerte se echa en el regazo,mas de Jehová es la decisión de ella.
CHAPTER 16
It is better to get wisdom than gold—Pride goes before destruction—The gray hair of the righteous person is a crown of glory.
1 The apreparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the btongue, is from the Lord.
2 All the ways of a man are aclean in his bown eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits.
3 aCommit thy works unto the Lord, and thy bthoughts shall be established.
4 The Lord hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
5 Every one that is aproud in heart is an abomination to the Lord: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the afear of the Lord men bdepart from cevil.
7 When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his aenemies to be at bpeace with him.
8 aBetter is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.
9 A man’s heart adeviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.
10 A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment.
11 A just weight and balance are the Lord’s: all the weights of the bag are his work.
12 It is an abomination to kings to commit awickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.
13 aRighteous blips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.
14 The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.
15 In the light of the king’s countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.
16 How much better is it to get awisdom than gold! and to get bunderstanding rather to be chosen than silver!
17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.
18 aPride goeth before destruction, and an bhaughty spirit before a fall.
19 Better it is to be of an ahumble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
20 He that ahandleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso btrusteth in the Lord, chappy is he.
21 The wise in heart shall be called aprudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.
22 Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly.
23 The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.
24 Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
25 There is a away that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
26 He that laboureth laboureth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him.
27 An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning afire.
28 A froward man soweth astrife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.
29 A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good.
30 He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass.
31 aThe hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.
32 He that is slow to aanger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
33 The alot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the Lord.
