제 9 장

백성들이 죄를 자복하다

1   그 달 스무나흗 날에 이스라엘 자손이 다 모여 금식하며 굵은 베 옷을 입고 티끌을 무릅쓰며

2   모든 이방 사람들과 절교하고 서서 자기의 죄와 조상들의 허물을 자복하고

3   이 날에 낮 사분의 일은 그 제자리에 서서 그들의 하나님 여호와의 율법책을 낭독하고 낮 사분의 일은 죄를 자복하며 그들의 하나님 여호와께 경배하는데

4   레위 사람 예수아와 바니와 갓미엘과 스바냐와 분니와 세레뱌와 바니와 그나니는 단에 올라서서 큰 소리로 그들의 하나님 여호와께 부르짖고

5   또 레위 사람 예수아와 갓미엘과 바니와 하삽느야와 세레뱌와 호디야와 스바냐와 브다히야는 이르기를 너희 무리는 마땅히 일어나 영원부터 영원까지 계신 너희 하나님 여호와를 송축할지어다 주여 주의 영화로운 이름을 송축하올 것은 주의 이름이 존귀하여 모든 송축이나 찬양에서 뛰어남이니이다

6   오직 주는 여호와시라 하늘과 하늘들의 하늘과 일월 성신과 땅과 땅 위의 만물과 바다와 그 가운데 모든 것을 지으시고 다 보존하시오니 모든 천군이 주께 경배하나이다

7   주는 하나님 여호와시라 옛적에 아브람을 택하시고 갈대아 우르에서 인도하여 내시고 아브라함이라는 이름을 주시고

8   그의 마음이 주 앞에서 충성됨을 보시고 그와 더불어 언약을 세우사 가나안 족속과 헷 족속과 아모리 족속과 브리스 족속과 여부스 족속과 기르가스 족속의 땅을 그의 씨에게 주리라 하시더니 그 말씀대로 이루셨사오매 주는 의로우심이로소이다

9   주께서 우리 조상들이 애굽에서 고난 받는 것을 감찰하시며 홍해에서 그들의 부르짖음을 들으시고

10   이적과 기사를 베푸사 바로와 그의 모든 신하와 그의 나라 온 백성을 치셨사오니 이는 그들이 우리의 조상들에게 교만하게 행함을 아셨음이라 주께서 오늘과 같이 명예를 얻으셨나이다

11   또 주께서 우리 조상들 앞에서 바다를 갈라지게 하사 그들이 바다 가운데를 육지 같이 통과하게 하시고 쫓아오는 자들을 돌을 큰 물에 던짐 같이 깊은 물에 던지시고

12   낮에는 구름 기둥으로 인도하시고 밤에는 불 기둥으로 그들이 행할 길을 그들에게 비추셨사오며

13   또 시내 산에 강림하시고 하늘에서부터 그들과 말씀하사 정직한 규례와 진정한 율법과 선한 율례와 계명을 그들에게 주시고

14   거룩한 안식일을 그들에게 알리시며 주의 종 모세를 통하여 계명과 율례와 율법을 그들에게 명령하시고

15   그들의 굶주림 때문에 하늘에서 그들에게 양식을 주시며 그들의 목마름 때문에 그들에게 반석에서 물을 내시고 또 주께서 옛적에 손을 들어 맹세하시고 주겠다고 하신 땅을 들어가서 차지하라 말씀하셨사오나

16   그들과 우리 조상들이 교만하고 목을 굳게 하여 주의 명령을 듣지 아니하고

17   거역하며 주께서 그들 가운데에서 행하신 기사를 기억하지 아니하고 목을 굳게 하며 패역하여 스스로 한 우두머리를 세우고 종 되었던 땅으로 돌아가고자 하였나이다 그러나 주께서는 용서하시는 하나님이시라 은혜로우시며 긍휼히 여기시며 더디 노하시며 인자가 풍부하시므로 그들을 버리지 아니하셨나이다

18   또 그들이 자기들을 위하여 송아지를 부어 만들고 이르기를 이는 곧 너희를 인도하여 애굽에서 나오게 한 신이라 하여 하나님을 크게 모독하였사오나

19   주께서는 주의 크신 긍휼로 그들을 광야에 버리지 아니하시고 낮에는 구름 기둥이 그들에게서 떠나지 아니하고 길을 인도하며 밤에는 불 기둥이 그들이 갈 길을 비추게 하셨사오며

20   또 주의 선한 영을 주사 그들을 가르치시며 주의 만나가 그들의 입에서 끊어지지 않게 하시고 그들의 목마름을 인하여 그들에게 물을 주어

21   사십 년 동안 들에서 기르시되 부족함이 없게 하시므로 그 옷이 해어지지 아니하였고 발이 부르트지 아니하였사오며

22   또 나라들과 족속들을 그들에게 각각 나누어 주시매 그들이 시혼의 땅 곧 헤스본 왕의 땅과 바산 왕 옥의 땅을 차지하였나이다

23   주께서 그들의 자손을 하늘의 별같이 많게 하시고 전에 그들의 열조에게 들어가서 차지하라고 말씀하신 땅으로 인도하여 이르게 하셨으므로

24   그 자손이 들어가서 땅을 차지하되 주께서 그 땅 가나안 주민들이 그들 앞에 복종하게 하실 때에 가나안 사람들과 그들의 왕들과 본토 여러 족속들을 그들의 손에 넘겨 임의로 행하게 하시매

25   그들이 견고한 성읍들과 기름진 땅을 점령하고 모든 아름다운 물건이 가득한 집과 판 우물과 포도원과 감람원과 허다한 과목을 차지하여 배불리 먹어 살찌고 주의 큰 복을 즐겼사오나

26   그들은 순종하지 아니하고 주를 거역하며 주의 율법을 등지고 주께로 돌아오기를 권면하는 선지자들을 죽여 주를 심히 모독하였나이다

27   그러므로 주께서 그들을 대적의 손에 넘기사 그들이 곤고를 당하게 하시매 그들이 환난을 당하여 주께 부르짖을 때에 주께서 하늘에서 들으시고 주의 크신 긍휼로 그들에게 구원자들을 주어 그들을 대적의 손에서 구원하셨거늘

28   그들이 평강을 얻은 후에 다시 주 앞에서 악을 행하므로 주께서 그들을 원수들의 손에 버려 두사 원수들에게 지배를 당하게 하시다가 그들이 돌이켜 주께 부르짖으매 주께서 하늘에서 들으시고 여러 번 주의 긍휼로 건져내시고

29   다시 주의 율법을 복종하게 하시려고 그들에게 경계하셨으나 그들이 교만하여 사람이 준행하면 그 가운데에서 삶을 얻는 주의 계명을 듣지 아니하며 주의 규례를 범하여 고집하는 어깨를 내밀며 목을 굳게 하여 듣지 아니하였나이다

30   그러나 주께서 그들을 여러 해 동안 참으시고 또 주의 선지자들을 통하여 주의 영으로 그들을 경계하시되 그들이 듣지 아니하므로 열방 사람들의 손에 넘기시고도

31   주의 크신 긍휼로 그들을 아주 멸하지 아니하시며 버리지도 아니하셨사오니 주는 은혜로우시고 불쌍히 여기시는 하나님이심이니이다

32   우리 하나님이여 광대하시고 능하시고 두려우시며 언약과 인자하심을 지키시는 하나님이여 우리와 우리 왕들과 방백들과 제사장들과 선지자들과 조상들과 주의 모든 백성이 앗수르 왕들의 때로부터 오늘까지 당한 모든 환난을 이제 작게 여기지 마옵소서

33   그러나 우리가 당한 모든 일에 주는 공의로우시니 우리는 악을 행하였사오나 주께서는 진실하게 행하셨음이니이다

34   우리 왕들과 방백들과 제사장들과 조상들이 주의 율법을 지키지 아니하며 주의 명령과 주께서 그들에게 경계하신 말씀을 순종하지 아니하고

35   그들이 그 나라와 주께서 그들에게 베푸신 큰 복과 자기 앞에 주신 넓고 기름진 땅을 누리면서도 주를 섬기지 아니하며 악행을 그치지 아니하였으므로

36   우리가 오늘날 종이 되었는데 곧 주께서 우리 조상들에게 주사 그것의 열매를 먹고 그것의 아름다운 소산을 누리게 하신 땅에서 우리가 종이 되었나이다

37   우리의 죄로 말미암아 주께서 우리 위에 세우신 이방 왕들이 이 땅의 많은 소산을 얻고 그들이 우리의 몸과 가축을 임의로 관할하오니 우리의 곤란이 심하오며

38   우리가 이 모든 일로 말미암아 이제 견고한 언약을 세워 기록하고 우리의 방백들과 레위 사람들과 제사장들이 다 인봉하나이다 하였느니라

#NEHEMÍAS 9

Esdras confiesa los pecados de Israel

1El día veinticuatro del mismo mes se reunieron los hijos de Israel en ayuno, y con cilicio y tierra sobre sí. 2Y ya se había apartado la descendencia de Israel de todos los extranjeros; y estando en pie, confesaron sus pecados, y las iniquidades de sus padres. 3Y puestos de pie en su lugar, leyeron el libro de la ley de Jehová su Dios la cuarta parte del día, y la cuarta parte confesaron sus pecados y adoraron a Jehová su Dios.

4Luego se levantaron sobre la grada de los levitas, Jesúa, Bani, Cadmiel, Sebanías, Buni, Serebías, Bani y Quenani, y clamaron en voz alta a Jehová su Dios. 5Y dijeron los levitas Jesúa, Cadmiel, Bani, Hasabnías, Serebías, Hodías, Sebanías y Petaías: Levantaos, bendecid a Jehová vuestro Dios desde la eternidad hasta la eternidad; y bendígase el nombre tuyo, glorioso y alto sobre toda bendición y alabanza. 6Tú solo eres Jehová; tú hiciste los cielos, y los cielos de los cielos, con todo su ejército, la tierra y todo lo que está en ella, los mares y todo lo que hay en ellos; y tú vivificas todas estas cosas, y los ejércitos de los cielos te adoran. 7Tú eres, oh Jehová, el Dios que escogiste a Abram, y lo sacaste de Ur de los caldeos, y le pusiste el nombre Abraham; 8y hallaste fiel su corazón delante de ti, e hiciste pacto con él para darle la tierra del cananeo, del heteo, del amorreo, del ferezeo, del jebuseo y del gergeseo, para darla a su descendencia; y cumpliste tu palabra, porque eres justo. 9Y miraste la aflicción de nuestros padres en Egipto, y oíste el clamor de ellos en el Mar Rojo; 10e hiciste señales y maravillas contra Faraón, contra todos sus siervos, y contra todo el pueblo de su tierra, porque sabías que habían procedido con soberbia contra ellos; y te hiciste nombre grande, como en este día.

11Dividiste el mar delante de ellos, y pasaron por medio de él en seco; y a sus perseguidores echaste en las profundidades, como una piedra en profundas aguas. 12Con columna de nube los guiaste de día, y con columna de fuego de noche, para alumbrarles el camino por donde habían de ir. 13Y sobre el monte de Sinaí descendiste, y hablaste con ellos desde el cielo, y les diste juicios rectos, leyes verdaderas, y estatutos y mandamientos buenos, 14y les ordenaste el día de reposo santo para ti, y por mano de Moisés tu siervo les prescribiste mandamientos, estatutos y la ley. 15Les diste pan del cielo en su hambre, y en su sed les sacaste aguas de la peña; y les dijiste que entrasen a poseer la tierra, por la cual alzaste tu mano y juraste que se la darías. 16Mas ellos y nuestros padres fueron soberbios, y endurecieron su cerviz, y no escucharon tus mandamientos. 17No quisieron oír, ni se acordaron de tus maravillas que habías hecho con ellos; antes endurecieron su cerviz, y en su rebelión pensaron poner caudillo para volverse a su servidumbre. Pero tú eres Dios que perdonas, clemente y piadoso, tardo para la ira, y grande en misericordia, porque no los abandonaste. 18Además, cuando hicieron para sí becerro de fundición y dijeron: Este es tu Dios que te hizo subir de Egipto; y cometieron grandes abominaciones, 19tú, con todo, por tus muchas misericordias no los abandonaste en el desierto. La columna de nube no se apartó de ellos de día, para guiarlos por el camino, ni de noche la columna de fuego, para alumbrarles el camino por el cual habían de ir. 20Y enviaste tu buen Espíritu para enseñarles, y no retiraste tu maná de su boca, y agua les diste para su sed. 21Los sustentaste cuarenta años en el desierto; de ninguna cosa tuvieron necesidad; sus vestidos no se envejecieron, ni se hincharon sus pies. 22Y les diste reinos y pueblos, y los repartiste por distritos; y poseyeron la tierra de Sehón, la tierra del rey de Hesbón, y la tierra de Og rey de Basán. 23Multiplicaste sus hijos como las estrellas del cielo, y los llevaste a la tierra de la cual habías dicho a sus padres que habían de entrar a poseerla. 24Y los hijos vinieron y poseyeron la tierra, y humillaste delante de ellos a los moradores del país, a los cananeos, los cuales entregaste en su mano, y a sus reyes, y a los pueblos de la tierra, para que hiciesen de ellos como quisieran. 25Y tomaron ciudades fortificadas y tierra fértil, y heredaron casas llenas de todo bien, cisternas hechas, viñas y olivares, y muchos árboles frutales; comieron, se saciaron, y se deleitaron en tu gran bondad. 26Pero te provocaron a ira, y se rebelaron contra ti, y echaron tu ley tras sus espaldas, y mataron a tus profetas que protestaban contra ellos para convertirlos a ti, e hicieron grandes abominaciones.

27Entonces los entregaste en mano de sus enemigos, los cuales los afligieron. Pero en el tiempo de su tribulación clamaron a ti, y tú desde los cielos los oíste; y según tu gran misericordia les enviaste libertadores para que los salvasen de mano de sus enemigos. 28Pero una vez que tenían paz, volvían a hacer lo malo delante de ti, por lo cual los abandonaste en mano de sus enemigos que los dominaron; pero volvían y clamaban otra vez a ti, y tú desde los cielos los oías y según tus misericordias muchas veces los libraste. 29Les amonestaste a que se volviesen a tu ley; mas ellos se llenaron de soberbia, y no oyeron tus mandamientos, sino que pecaron contra tus juicios, los cuales si el hombre hiciere, en ellos vivirá; se rebelaron, endurecieron su cerviz, y no escucharon. 30Les soportaste por muchos años, y les testificaste con tu Espíritu por medio de tus profetas, pero no escucharon; por lo cual los entregaste en mano de los pueblos de la tierra. 31Mas por tus muchas misericordias no los consumiste, ni los desamparaste; porque eres Dios clemente y misericordioso. 32Ahora pues, Dios nuestro, Dios grande, fuerte, temible, que guardas el pacto y la misericordia, no sea tenido en poco delante de ti todo el sufrimiento que ha alcanzado a nuestros reyes, a nuestros príncipes, a nuestros sacerdotes, a nuestros profetas, a nuestros padres y a todo tu pueblo, desde los días de los reyes de Asiria hasta este día. 33Pero tú eres justo en todo lo que ha venido sobre nosotros; porque rectamente has hecho, mas nosotros hemos hecho lo malo. 34Nuestros reyes, nuestros príncipes, nuestros sacerdotes y nuestros padres no pusieron por obra tu ley, ni atendieron a tus mandamientos y a tus testimonios con que les amonestabas. 35Y ellos en su reino y en tu mucho bien que les diste, y en la tierra espaciosa y fértil que entregaste delante de ellos, no te sirvieron, ni se convirtieron de sus malas obras. 36He aquí que hoy somos siervos; henos aquí, siervos en la tierra que diste a nuestros padres para que comiesen su fruto y su bien. 37Y se multiplica su fruto para los reyes que has puesto sobre nosotros por nuestros pecados, quienes se enseñorean sobre nuestros cuerpos, y sobre nuestros ganados, conforme a su voluntad, y estamos en grande angustia.

Pacto del pueblo, de guardar la ley

38A causa, pues, de todo esto, nosotros hacemos fiel promesa, y la escribimos, firmada por nuestros príncipes, por nuestros levitas y por nuestros sacerdotes.

#Nehemiah 9

The People of Israel Confess Their Sin

1Now on the twenty-fourth day of this month the people of Israel were assembled with fasting and in sackcloth, and with earth on their heads. 2And the Israelites separated themselves from all foreigners and stood and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their fathers. 3And they stood up in their place and read from the Book of the Law of the Lord their God for a quarter of the day; for another quarter of it they made confession and worshiped the Lord their God. 4On the stairs of the Levites stood Jeshua, Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, and Chenani; and they cried with a loud voice to the Lord their God. 5Then the Levites, Jeshua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah, said, “Stand up and bless the Lord your God from everlasting to everlasting. Blessed be your glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise.

6 “You are the Lord, you alone. You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them; and you preserve all of them; and the host of heaven worships you. 7You are the Lord, the God who chose Abram and brought him out of Ur of the Chaldeans and gave him the name Abraham. 8You found his heart faithful before you, and made with him the covenant to give to his offspring the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Jebusite, and the Girgashite. And you have kept your promise, for you are righteous.

9 “And you saw the affliction of our fathers in Egypt and heard their cry at the Red Sea, 10and performed signs and wonders against Pharaoh and all his servants and all the people of his land, for you knew that they acted arrogantly against our fathers. And you made a name for yourself, as it is to this day. 11And you divided the sea before them, so that they went through the midst of the sea on dry land, and you cast their pursuers into the depths, as a stone into mighty waters. 12By a pillar of cloud you led them in the day, and by a pillar of fire in the night to light for them the way in which they should go. 13You came down on Mount Sinai and spoke with them from heaven and gave them right rules and true laws, good statutes and commandments, 14and you made known to them your holy Sabbath and commanded them commandments and statutes and a law by Moses your servant. 15You gave them bread from heaven for their hunger and brought water for them out of the rock for their thirst, and you told them to go in to possess the land that you had sworn to give them.

16“But they and our fathers acted presumptuously and stiffened their neck and did not obey your commandments. 17They refused to obey and were not mindful of the wonders that you performed among them, but they stiffened their neck and appointed a leader to return to their slavery in Egypt. But you are a God ready to forgive, gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and did not forsake them. 18Even when they had made for themselves a golden calf and said, ‘This is your God who brought you up out of Egypt,’ and had committed great blasphemies, 19you in your great mercies did not forsake them in the wilderness. The pillar of cloud to lead them in the way did not depart from them by day, nor the pillar of fire by night to light for them the way by which they should go. 20You gave your good Spirit to instruct them and did not withhold your manna from their mouth and gave them water for their thirst. 21Forty years you sustained them in the wilderness, and they lacked nothing. Their clothes did not wear out and their feet did not swell.

22“And you gave them kingdoms and peoples and allotted to them every corner. So they took possession of the land of Sihon king of Heshbon and the land of Og king of Bashan. 23You multiplied their children as the stars of heaven, and you brought them into the land that you had told their fathers to enter and possess. 24So the descendants went in and possessed the land, and you subdued before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, and gave them into their hand, with their kings and the peoples of the land, that they might do with them as they would. 25And they captured fortified cities and a rich land, and took possession of houses full of all good things, cisterns already hewn, vineyards, olive orchards and fruit trees in abundance. So they ate and were filled and became fat and delighted themselves in your great goodness.

26 “Nevertheless, they were disobedient and rebelled against you and cast your law behind their back and killed your prophets, who had warned them in order to turn them back to you, and they committed great blasphemies. 27Therefore you gave them into the hand of their enemies, who made them suffer. And in the time of their suffering they cried out to you and you heard them from heaven, and according to your great mercies you gave them saviors who saved them from the hand of their enemies. 28But after they had rest they did evil again before you, and you abandoned them to the hand of their enemies, so that they had dominion over them. Yet when they turned and cried to you, you heard from heaven, and many times you delivered them according to your mercies. 29And you warned them in order to turn them back to your law. Yet they acted presumptuously and did not obey your commandments, but sinned against your rules, which if a person does them, he shall live by them, and they turned a stubborn shoulder and stiffened their neck and would not obey. 30Many years you bore with them and warned them by your Spirit through your prophets. Yet they would not give ear. Therefore you gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands. 31Nevertheless, in your great mercies you did not make an end of them or forsake them, for you are a gracious and merciful God.

32“Now, therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who keeps covenant and steadfast love, let not all the hardship seem little to you that has come upon us, upon our kings, our princes, our priests, our prophets, our fathers, and all your people, since the time of the kings of Assyria until this day. 33Yet you have been righteous in all that has come upon us, for you have dealt faithfully and we have acted wickedly. 34Our kings, our princes, our priests, and our fathers have not kept your law or paid attention to your commandments and your warnings that you gave them. 35Even in their own kingdom, and amid your great goodness that you gave them, and in the large and rich land that you set before them, they did not serve you or turn from their wicked works. 36Behold, we are slaves this day; in the land that you gave to our fathers to enjoy its fruit and its good gifts, behold, we are slaves. 37And its rich yield goes to the kings whom you have set over us because of our sins. They rule over our bodies and over our livestock as they please, and we are in great distress.

38 “Because of all this we make a firm covenant in writing; on the sealed document are the names of our princes, our Levites, and our priests.
