제 23 장

다윗이 그일라를 구원하다

1 사람들이 다윗에게 전하여 이르되 보소서 블레셋 사람이 그일라를 쳐서 그 타작 마당을 탈취하더이다 하니

2 이에 다윗이 여호와께 묻자와 이르되 내가 가서 이 블레셋 사람들을 치리이까 여호와께서 다윗에게 이르시되 가서 블레셋 사람들을 치고 그일라를 구원하라 하시니

3 다윗의 사람들이 그에게 이르되 보소서 우리가 유다에 있기도 두렵거든 하물며 그일라에 가서 블레셋 사람들의 군대를 치는 일이리이까 한지라

4 다윗이 여호와께 다시 묻자온대 여호와께서 대답하여 이르시되 일어나 그일라로 내려가라 내가 블레셋 사람들을 네 손에 넘기리라 하신지라

5 다윗과 그의 사람들이 그일라로 가서 블레셋 사람들과 싸워 그들을 크게 쳐서 죽이고 그들의 가축을 끌어 오니라 다윗이 이와 같이 그일라 주민을 구원하니라

6 아히멜렉의 아들 아비아달이 그일라 다윗에게로 도망할 때에 손에 에봇을 가지고 내려왔더라

7 다윗이 그일라에 온 것을 어떤 사람이 사울에게 알리매 사울이 이르되 하나님이 그를 내 손에 넘기셨도다 그가 문과 문 빗장이 있는 성읍에 들어갔으니 갇혔도다

8 사울이 모든 백성을 군사로 불러모으고 그일라로 내려가서 다윗과 그의 사람들을 에워싸려 하더니

9 다윗은 사울이 자기를 해하려 하는 음모를 알고 제사장 아비아달에게 이르되 에봇을 이리로 가져오라 하고

10 다윗이 이르되 이스라엘 하나님 여호와여 사울이 나 때문에 이 성읍을 멸하려고 그일라로 내려오기를 꾀한다 함을 주의 종이 분명히 들었나이다

11 그일라 사람들이 나를 그의 손에 넘기겠나이까 주의 종이 들은 대로 사울이 내려 오겠나이까 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와여 원하건대 주의 종에게 일러 주옵소서 하니 여호와께서 이르시되 그가 내려오리라 하신지라

12 다윗이 이르되 그일라 사람들이 나와 내 사람들을 사울의 손에 넘기겠나이까 하니 여호와께서 이르시되 그들이 너를 넘기리라 하신지라

13 다윗과 그의 사람 육백 명 가량이 일어나 그일라를 떠나서 갈 수 있는 곳으로 갔더니 다윗이 그일라에서 피한 것을 어떤 사람이 사울에게 말하매 사울이 가기를 그치니라

14 다윗이 광야의 요새에도 있었고 또 십 광야 산골에도 머물렀으므로 사울이 매일 찾되 하나님이 그를 그의 손에 넘기지 아니하시니라

다윗이 엔게디 요새로 피하다

15 다윗이 사울이 자기의 생명을 빼앗으려고 나온 것을 보았으므로 그가 십 광야 수풀에 있었더니

16 사울의 아들 요나단이 일어나 수풀에 들어가서 다윗에게 이르러 그에게 하나님을 힘 있게 의지하게 하였는데

17 곧 요나단이 그에게 이르기를 두려워하지 말라 내 아버지 사울의 손이 네게 미치지 못할 것이요 너는 이스라엘 왕이 되고 나는 네 다음이 될 것을 내 아버지 사울도 안다 하니라

18 두 사람이 여호와 앞에서 언약하고 다윗은 수풀에 머물고 요나단은 자기 집으로 돌아가니라

19 그 때에 십 사람들이 기브아에 이르러 사울에게 나아와 이르되 다윗이 우리와 함께 1)광야 남쪽 하길라 산 수풀 요새에 숨지 아니하였나이까

20 그러하온즉 왕은 내려오시기를 원하시는 대로 내려오소서 그를 왕의 손에 넘길 것이 우리의 의무니이다 하니

21 사울이 이르되 너희가 나를 긍휼히 여겼으니 여호와께 복 받기를 원하노라

22 어떤 사람이 내게 말하기를 그는 심히 지혜롭게 행동한다 하나니 너희는 가서 더 자세히 살펴서 그가 어디에 숨었으며 누가 거기서 그를 보았는지 알아보고

23 그가 숨어 있는 모든 곳을 정탐하고 실상을 내게 보고하라 내가 너희와 함께 가리니 그가 이 땅에 있으면 유다 2)몇 천 명 중에서라도 그를 찾아내리라 하더라

24 그들이 일어나 사울보다 먼저 십으로 가니라 다윗과 그의 사람들이 1)광야 남쪽 마온 광야 아라바에 있더니

25 사울과 그의 사람들이 찾으러 온 것을 어떤 사람이 다윗에게 아뢰매 이에 다윗이 바위로 내려가 마온 황무지에 있더니 사울이 듣고 마온 황무지로 다윗을 따라가서는

26 사울이 산 이쪽으로 가매 다윗과 그의 사람들은 산 저쪽으로 가며 다윗이 사울을 두려워하여 급히 피하려 하였으니 이는 사울과 그의 사람들이 다윗과 그의 사람들을 에워싸고 잡으려 함이었더라

27 전령이 사울에게 와서 이르되 급히 오소서 블레셋 사람들이 땅을 침노하나이다

28 이에 사울이 다윗 뒤쫓기를 그치고 돌아와 블레셋 사람들을 치러 갔으므로 그 곳을 3)셀라하마느곳이라 칭하니라

29 다윗이 거기서 올라가서 엔게디 요새에 머무니라

Dieron aviso a David, diciendo: He aquí que los filisteos combaten a Keila, y roban las eras. 2. Y David consultó a Jehová, diciendo: ¿Iré a atacar a estos filisteos? Y Jehová respondió a David: Ve, ataca a los filisteos, y libra a Keila. 3. Pero los que estaban con David le dijeron: He aquí que nosotros aquí en Judá estamos con miedo; ¿cuánto más si fuéremos a Keila contra el ejército de los filisteos? 4. Entonces David volvió a consultar a Jehová. Y Jehová le respondió y dijo: Levántate, desciende a Keila, pues yo entregaré en tus manos a los filisteos. 5. Fue, pues, David con sus hombres a Keila, y peleó contra los filisteos, se llevó sus ganados, y les causó una gran derrota; y libró David a los de Keila. 6. Y aconteció que cuando Abiatar hijo de Ahimelec huyó siguiendo a David a Keila, descendió con el efod en su mano. 7. Y fue dado aviso a Saúl que David había venido a Keila. Entonces dijo Saúl: Dios lo ha entregado en mi mano, pues se ha encerrado entrando en ciudad con puertas y cerraduras. 8. Y convocó Saúl a todo el pueblo a la batalla para descender a Keila, y poner sitio a David y a sus hombres. 9. Mas entendiendo David que Saúl ideaba el mal contra él, dijo a Abiatar sacerdote: Trae el efod. 10. Y dijo David: Jehová Dios de Israel, tu siervo tiene entendido que Saúl trata de venir contra Keila, a destruir la ciudad por causa mía. 11. ¿Me entregarán los vecinos de Keila en sus manos? ¿Descenderá Saúl, como ha oído tu siervo? Jehová Dios de Israel, te ruego que lo declares a tu siervo. Y Jehová dijo: Sí, descenderá. 12. Dijo luego David: ¿Me entregarán los vecinos de Keila a mí y a mis hombres en manos de Saúl? Y Jehová respondió: Os entregarán. 13. David entonces se levantó con sus hombres, que eran como seiscientos, y salieron de Keila, y anduvieron de un lugar a otro. Y vino a Saúl la nueva de que David se había escapado de Keila, y desistió de salir. 14. Y David se quedó en el desierto en lugares fuertes, y habitaba en un monte en el desierto de Zif; y lo buscaba Saúl todos los días, pero Dios no lo entregó en sus manos. 15. Viendo, pues, David que Saúl había salido en busca de su vida, se estuvo en Hores, en el desierto de Zif. 16. Entonces se levantó Jonatán hijo de Saúl y vino a David a Hores, y fortaleció su mano en Dios. 17. Y le dijo: No temas, pues no te hallará la mano de Saúl mi padre, y tú reinarás sobre Israel, y yo seré segundo después de ti; y aun Saúl mi padre así lo sabe. 18. Y ambos hicieron pacto delante de Jehová; y David se quedó en Hores, y Jonatán se volvió a su casa. 19. Después subieron los de Zif para decirle a Saúl en Gabaa: ¿No está David escondido en nuestra tierra en las peñas de Hores, en el collado de Haquila, que está al sur del desierto? 20. Por tanto, rey, desciende pronto ahora, conforme a tu deseo, y nosotros lo entregaremos en la mano del rey. 21. Y Saúl dijo: Benditos seáis vosotros de Jehová, que habéis tenido compasión de mí. 22. Id, pues, ahora, aseguraos más, conoced y ved el lugar de su escondite, y quién lo haya visto allí; porque se me ha dicho que él es astuto en gran manera. 23. Observad, pues, e informaos de todos los escondrijos donde se oculta, y volved a mí con información segura, y yo iré con vosotros; y si él estuviere en la tierra, yo le buscaré entre todos los millares de Judá. 24. Y ellos se levantaron, y se fueron a Zif delante de Saúl. Pero David y su gente estaban en el desierto de Maón, en el Arabá al sur del desierto. 25. Y se fue Saúl con su gente a buscarlo; pero fue dado aviso a David, y descendió a la peña, y se quedó en el desierto de Maón. Cuando Saúl oyó esto, siguió a David al desierto de Maón. 26. Y Saúl iba por un lado del monte, y David con sus hombres por el otro lado del monte, y se daba prisa David para escapar de Saúl; mas Saúl y sus hombres habían encerrado a David y a su gente para capturarlos. 27. Entonces vino un mensajero a Saúl, diciendo: Ven luego, porque los filisteos han hecho una irrupción en el país. 28. Volvió, por tanto, Saúl de perseguir a David, y partió contra los filisteos. Por esta causa pusieron a aquel lugar por nombre Sela-hama-lecot. 29. Entonces David subió de allí y habitó en los lugares fuertes de En-gadi. 1 #Samuel 23 David Saves the City of Keilah 1. Now they told David, “Behold, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah and are robbing the threshing floors.” 2. Therefore David inquired of the Lord, “Shall I go and attack these Philistines?” And the Lord said to David, “Go and attack the Philistines and save Keilah.” 3. But David’s men said to him, “Behold, we are afraid here in Judah; how much more then if we go to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?” 4. Then David inquired of the Lord again. And the Lord answered him, “Arise, go down to Keilah, for I will give the Philistines into your hand.” 5. And David and his men went to Keilah and fought with the Philistines and brought away their livestock and struck them with a great blow. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah. 6. When Abiathar the son of Ahimelech had fled to David to Keilah, he had come down with an ephod in his hand. 7. Now it was told Saul that David had come to Keilah. And Saul said, “God has given him into my hand, for he has shut himself in by entering a town that has gates and bars.” 8. And Saul summoned all the people to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men. 9. David knew that Saul was plotting harm against him. And he said to Abiathar the priest, “Bring the ephod here.” 10. Then David said, “O Lord, the God of Israel, your servant has surely heard that Saul seeks to come to Keilah, to destroy the city on my account. 11. Will the men of Keilah surrender me into his hand? Will Saul come down, as your servant has heard? O Lord, the God of Israel, please tell your servant.” And the Lord said, “He will come down.” 12. Then David said, “Will the men of Keilah surrender me and my men into the hand of Saul?” And the Lord said, “They will surrender you.” 13. Then David and his men, who were about six hundred, arose and departed from Keilah, and they went wherever they could go. When Saul was told that David had escaped from Keilah, he gave up the expedition. 14. And David remained in the strongholds in the wilderness, in the hill country of the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God did not give him into his hand. Saul Pursues David 15. David saw that Saul had come out to seek his life. David was in the wilderness of Ziph at Horesh. 16. And Jonathan, Saul’s son, rose and went to David at Horesh, and strengthened his hand in God. 17. And he said to him, “Do not fear, for the hand of Saul my father shall not find you. You shall be king over Israel, and I shall be next to you. Saul my father also knows this.” 18. And the two of them made a covenant before the Lord. David remained at Horesh, and Jonathan went home. 19. Then the Ziphites went up to Saul at Gibeah, saying, “Is not David hiding among us in the strongholds at Horesh, on the hill of Hachilah, which is south of Jeshimon? 20. Now come down, O king, according to all your heart’s desire to come down, and our part shall be to surrender him into the king’s hand.” 21. And Saul said, “May you be blessed by the Lord, for you have had compassion on me. 22. Go, make yet more sure. Know and see the place where his foot is, and who has seen him there, for it is told me that he is very cunning. 23. See therefore and take note of all the lurking places where he hides, and come back to me with sure information. Then I will go with you. And if he is in the land, I will search him out among all the thousands of Judah.” 24. And they arose and went to Ziph ahead of Saul. Now David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the Arabah to the south of Jeshimon. 25. And Saul and his men went to seek him. And David was told, so he went down to the rock and lived in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon. 26. Saul went on one side of the mountain, and David and his men on the other side of the mountain. And David was hurrying to get away from Saul. As Saul and his men were closing in on David and his men to capture them, 27. a messenger came to Saul, saying, “Hurry and come, for the Philistines have made a raid against the land.” 28. So Saul returned from pursuing after David and went against the Philistines. Therefore that place was called the Rock of Escape. 29. And David went up from there and lived in the strongholds of Engedi.

Now they told David, “Behold, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah and are robbing the threshing floors.”
Therefore David inquired of the Lord, “Shall I go and attack these Philistines?” And the Lord said to David, “Go and attack the Philistines and save Keilah.”
But David’s men said to him, “Behold, we are afraid here in Judah; how much more then if we go to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?”
Then David inquired of the Lord again. And the Lord answered him, “Arise, go down to Keilah, for I will give the Philistines into your hand.”
And David and his men went to Keilah and fought with the Philistines and brought away their livestock and struck them with a great blow. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.
When Abiathar the son of Ahimelech had fled to David to Keilah, he had come down with an ephod in his hand.
Now it was told Saul that David had come to Keilah. And Saul said, “God has given him into my hand, for he has shut himself in by entering a town that has gates and bars.”
And Saul summoned all the people to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men.
David knew that Saul was plotting harm against him. And he said to Abiathar the priest, “Bring the ephod here.”
Then David said, “O Lord, the God of Israel, your servant has surely heard that Saul seeks to come to Keilah, to destroy the city on my account.
Will the men of Keilah surrender me into his hand? Will Saul come down, as your servant has heard? O Lord, the God of Israel, please tell your servant.” And the Lord said, “He will come down.”
Then David said, “Will the men of Keilah surrender me and my men into the hand of Saul?” And the Lord said, “They will surrender you.”
Then David and his men, who were about six hundred, arose and departed from Keilah, and they went wherever they could go. When Saul was told that David had escaped from Keilah, he gave up the expedition.
And David remained in the strongholds in the wilderness, in the hill country of the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God did not give him into his hand.

Saul Pursues David
David saw that Saul had come out to seek his life. David was in the wilderness of Ziph at Horesh.
And Jonathan, Saul’s son, rose and went to David at Horesh, and strengthened his hand in God.
And he said to him, “Do not fear, for the hand of Saul my father shall not find you. You shall be king over Israel, and I shall be next to you. Saul my father also knows this.”
And the two of them made a covenant before the Lord. David remained at Horesh, and Jonathan went home.
Then the Ziphites went up to Saul at Gibeah, saying, “Is not David hiding among us in the strongholds at Horesh, on the hill of Hachilah, which is south of Jeshimon?
Now come down, O king, according to all your heart’s desire to come down, and our part shall be to surrender him into the king’s hand.”
And Saul said, “May you be blessed by the Lord, for you have had compassion on me.
Go, make yet more sure. Know and see the place where his foot is, and who has seen him there, for it is told me that he is very cunning.
See therefore and take note of all the lurking places where he hides, and come back to me with sure information. Then I will go with you. And if he is in the land, I will search him out among all the thousands of Judah.”
And they arose and went to Ziph ahead of Saul.
Now David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the Arabah to the south of Jeshimon.
And Saul and his men went to seek him. And David was told, so he went down to the rock and lived in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon.
Saul went on one side of the mountain, and David and his men on the other side of the mountain. And David was hurrying to get away from Saul. As Saul and his men were closing in on David and his men to capture them,
a messenger came to Saul, saying, “Hurry and come, for the Philistines have made a raid against the land.”
So Saul returned from pursuing after David and went against the Philistines. Therefore that place was called the Rock of Escape.
And David went up from there and lived in the strongholds of Engedi.
