제 28 장

1 그 때에 블레셋 사람들이 이스라엘과 싸우려고 군대를 모집한지라 아기스가 다윗에게 이르되 너는 밝히 알라 너와 네 사람들이 나와 함께 나가서 군대에 참가할 것이니라

2 다윗이 아기스에게 이르되 그러면 당신의 종이 행할 바를 아시리이다 하니 아기스가 다윗에게 이르되 그러면 내가 너를 영원히 내 머리 지키는 자를 삼으리라 하니라

사울이 신접한 여인을 찾다

3 사무엘이 죽었으므로 온 이스라엘이 그를 두고 슬피 울며 그의 고향 라마에 장사하였고 사울은 신접한 자와 박수를 그 땅에서 쫓아내었더라

4 블레셋 사람들이 모여 수넴에 이르러 진 치매 사울이 온 이스라엘을 모아 길보아에 진 쳤더니

5 사울이 블레셋 사람들의 군대를 보고 두려워서 그의 마음이 크게 떨린지라

6 사울이 여호와께 묻자오되 여호와께서 꿈으로도, 우림으로도, 선지자로도 그에게 대답하지 아니하시므로

7 사울이 그의 신하들에게 이르되 나를 위하여 신접한 여인을 찾으라 내가 그리로 가서 그에게 물으리라 하니 그의 신하들이 그에게 이르되 보소서 엔돌에 신접한 여인이 있나이다

8 사울이 다른 옷을 입어 변장하고 두 사람과 함께 갈새 그들이 밤에 그 여인에게 이르러서는 사울이 이르되 청하노니 나를 위하여 신접한 술법으로 내가 네게 말하는 사람을 불러 올리라 하니

9 여인이 그에게 이르되 네가 사울이 행한 일 곧 그가 신접한 자와 박수를 이 땅에서 멸절시켰음을 아나니 네가 어찌하여 내 생명에 올무를 놓아 나를 죽게 하려느냐 하는지라

10 사울이 여호와의 이름으로 그에게 맹세하여 이르되 여호와께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하노니 네가 이 일로는 벌을 당하지 아니하리라 하니

11 여인이 이르되 내가 누구를 네게로 불러 올리랴 하니 사울이 이르되 사무엘을 불러 올리라 하는지라

12 여인이 사무엘을 보고 큰 소리로 외치며 사울에게 말하여 이르되 당신이 어찌하여 나를 속이셨나이까 당신이 사울이시니이다

13 왕이 그에게 이르되 두려워하지 말라 네가 무엇을 보았느냐 하니 여인이 사울에게 이르되 내가 영이 땅에서 올라오는 것을 보았나이다 하는지라

14 사울이 그에게 이르되 그의 모양이 어떠하냐 하니 그가 이르되 한 노인이 올라오는데 그가 겉옷을 입었나이다 하더라 사울이 그가 사무엘인 줄 알고 그의 얼굴을 땅에 대고 절하니라

15 사무엘이 사울에게 이르되 네가 어찌하여 나를 불러 올려서 나를 성가시게 하느냐 하니 사울이 대답하되 나는 심히 다급하니이다 블레셋 사람들은 나를 향하여 군대를 일으켰고 하나님은 나를 떠나서 다시는 선지자로도, 꿈으로도 내게 대답하지 아니하시기로 내가 행할 일을 알아보려고 당신을 불러 올렸나이다 하더라

16 사무엘이 이르되 여호와께서 너를 떠나 네 대적이 되셨거늘 네가 어찌하여 내게 묻느냐

17 여호와께서 나를 통하여 말씀하신 대로 네게 행하사 나라를 네 손에서 떼어 네 이웃 다윗에게 주셨느니라

18 네가 여호와의 목소리를 순종하지 아니하고 그의 진노를 아말렉에게 쏟지 아니하였으므로 여호와께서 오늘 이 일을 네게 행하셨고

19 여호와께서 이스라엘을 너와 함께 블레셋 사람들의 손에 넘기시리니 내일 너와 네 아들들이 나와 함께 있으리라 여호와께서 또 이스라엘 군대를 블레셋 사람들의 손에 넘기시리라 하는지라

20 사울이 갑자기 땅에 완전히 엎드러지니 이는 사무엘의 말로 말미암아 심히 두려워함이요 또 그의 기력이 다하였으니 이는 그가 하루 밤낮을 음식을 먹지 못하였음이니라

21 그 여인이 사울에게 이르러 그가 심히 고통 당함을 보고 그에게 이르되 여종이 왕의 말씀을 듣고 내 생명을 아끼지 아니하고 왕이 내게 이르신 말씀을 순종하였사오니

22 그런즉 청하건대 이제 당신도 여종의 말을 들으사 내가 왕 앞에 한 조각 떡을 드리게 하시고 왕은 잡수시고 길 가실 때에 기력을 얻으소서 하니

23 사울이 거절하여 이르되 내가 먹지 아니하겠노라 하니라 그의 신하들과 여인이 강권하매 그들의 말을 듣고 땅에서 일어나 침상에 앉으니라

24 여인의 집에 살진 송아지가 있으므로 그것을 급히 잡고 가루를 가져다가 뭉쳐 무교병을 만들고 구워서

25 사울 앞에와 그의 신하들 앞에 내놓으니 그들이 먹고 일어나서 그 밤에 가니라

Aconteció en aquellos días, que los filisteos reunieron sus fuerzas para pelear contra Israel. Y dijo Aquis a David: Ten entendido que has de salir conmigo a campaña, tú y tus hombres. 2. Y David respondió a Aquis: Muy bien, tú sabrás lo que hará tu siervo. Y Aquis dijo a David: Por tanto, yo te constituiré guarda de mi persona durante toda mi vida. Saúl y la adivina de Endor 3. Ya Samuel había muerto, y todo Israel lo había lamentado, y le habían sepultado en Ramá, su ciudad. Y Saúl había arrojado de la tierra a los encantadores y adivinos. 4. Se juntaron, pues, los filisteos, y vinieron y acamparon en Sunem; y Saúl juntó a todo Israel, y acamparon en Gilboa. 5. Y cuando vio Saúl el campamento de los filisteos, tuvo miedo, y se turbó su corazón en gran manera. 6. Y consultó Saúl a Jehová; pero Jehová no le respondió ni por sueños, ni por Urim, ni por profetas. 7. Entonces Saúl dijo a sus criados: Buscadme una mujer que tenga espíritu de adivinación, para que yo vaya a ella y por medio de ella pregunte. Y sus criados le respondieron: He aquí hay una mujer en Endor que tiene espíritu de adivinación. 8. Y se disfrazó Saúl, y se puso otros vestidos, y se fue con dos hombres, y vinieron a aquella mujer de noche; y él dijo: Yo te ruego que me adivines por el espíritu de adivinación, y me hagas subir a quien yo te dijere. 9. Y la mujer le dijo: He aquí tú sabes lo que Saúl ha hecho, cómo ha cortado de la tierra a los evocadores y a los adivinos. ¿Por qué, pues, pones tropiezo a mi vida, para hacerme morir? 10. Entonces Saúl le juró por Jehová, diciendo: Vive Jehová, que ningún mal te vendrá por esto. 11. La mujer entonces dijo: ¿A quién te haré venir? Y él respondió: Hazme venir a Samuel. 12. Y viendo la mujer a Samuel, clamó en alta voz, y habló aquella mujer a Saúl, diciendo: 13. ¿Por qué me has engañado? pues tú eres Saúl. Y el rey le dijo: No temas. ¿Qué has visto? Y la mujer respondió a Saúl: He visto dioses que suben de la tierra. 14. Él le dijo: ¿Cuál es su forma? Y ella respondió: Un hombre anciano viene, cubierto de un manto. Saúl entonces entendió que era Samuel, y humillando el rostro a tierra, hizo gran reverencia. 15. Y Samuel dijo a Saúl: ¿Por qué me has inquietado haciéndome venir? Y Saúl respondió: Estoy muy angustiado, pues los filisteos pelean contra mí, y Dios se ha apartado de mí, y no me responde más, ni por medio de profetas ni por sueños; por esto te he llamado, para que me declares lo que tengo que hacer. 16. Entonces Samuel dijo: ¿Y para qué me preguntas a mí, si Jehová se ha apartado de ti y es tu enemigo? 17. Jehová te ha hecho como dijo por medio de mí; pues Jehová ha quitado el reino de tu mano, y lo ha dado a tu compañero, David. 18. Como tú no obedeciste a la voz de Jehová, ni cumpliste el ardor de su ira contra Amalec, por eso Jehová te ha hecho esto hoy. 19. Y Jehová entregará a Israel también contigo en manos de los filisteos; y mañana estaréis conmigo, tú y tus hijos; y Jehová entregará también al ejército de Israel en mano de los filisteos. 20. Entonces Saúl cayó en tierra cuan grande era, y tuvo gran temor por las palabras de Samuel; y estaba sin fuerzas, porque en todo aquel día y aquella noche no había comido pan. 21. Entonces la mujer vino a Saúl, y viéndolo turbado en gran manera, le dijo: He aquí que tu sierva ha obedecido a tu voz, y he arriesgado mi vida, y he oído las palabras que tú me has dicho. 22. Te ruego, pues, que tú también oigas la voz de tu sierva; pondré yo delante de ti un bocado de pan para que comas, a fin de que cobres fuerzas, y sigas tu camino. 23. Y él rehusó diciendo: No comeré. Pero porfiaron con él sus siervos juntamente con la mujer, y él les obedeció. Se levantó, pues, del suelo, y se sentó sobre una cama. 24. Y aquella mujer tenía en su casa un ternero engordado, el cual mató luego; y tomó harina y la amasó, y coció de ella panes sin levadura. 25. Y lo trajo delante de Saúl y de sus siervos; y después de haber comido, se levantaron, y se fueron aquella noche. 1 #Samuel 28 Saul and the Medium of En-dor 1. David said to Achish, “Very well, you shall know what your servant can do.” And Achish said to David, “Very well, I will make you my bodyguard for life.” 3. Now Samuel had died, and all Israel had mourned for him and buried him in Ramah, his own city. And Saul had put the mediums and the necromancers out of the land. 4. The Philistines assembled and came and encamped at Shunem. And Saul gathered all Israel, and they encamped at Gilboa. 5. When Saul saw the army of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart trembled greatly. 6. And when Saul inquired of the Lord, the Lord did not answer him, either by dreams, or by Urim, or by prophets. 7. Then Saul said to his servants, “Seek out for me a woman who is a medium, that I may go to her and inquire of her.” And his servants said to him, “Behold, there is a medium at En-dor.” 8. So Saul disguised himself and put on other garments and went, he and two men with him. And they came to the woman by night. And he said, “Divine for me by a spirit and bring up for me whomever I shall name to you.” 9. The woman said to him, “Surely you know what Saul has done, how he has cut off the mediums and the necromancers from the land. Why then are you laying a trap for my life to bring about my death?” 10. But Saul swore to her by the Lord, “As the Lord lives, no punishment shall come upon you for this thing.” 11. Then the woman said, “Whom shall I bring up for you?” He said, “Bring up Samuel for me.” 12. When the woman saw Samuel, she cried out with a loud voice. And the woman said to Saul, “Why have you deceived me? You are Saul.” 13. The king said to her, “Do not be afraid. What do you see?” And the woman said to Saul, “I see a god coming up out of the earth.” 14. He said to her, “What is his appearance?” And she said, “An old man is coming up, and he is wrapped in a robe.” And Saul knew that it was Samuel, and he bowed with his face to the ground and paid homage. 15. Then Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?” Saul answered, “I am in great distress, for the Philistines are warring against me, and God has turned away from me and answers me no more, either by prophets or by dreams. Therefore I have summoned you to tell me what I shall do.” 16. And Samuel said, “Why then do you ask me, since the Lord has turned from you and become your enemy? 17. The Lord has done to you as he spoke by me, for the Lord has torn the kingdom out of your hand and given it to your neighbor, David. 18. Because you did not obey the voice of the Lord and did not carry out his fierce wrath against Amalek, therefore the Lord has done this thing to you this day. 19. Moreover, the Lord will give Israel also with you into the hand of the Philistines, and tomorrow you and your sons shall be with me. The Lord will give the army of Israel also into the hand of the Philistines.” 20. Then Saul fell at once full length on the ground, filled with fear because of the words of Samuel. And there was no strength in him, for he had eaten nothing all day and all night. 21. And the woman came to Saul, and when she saw that he was terrified, she said to him, “Behold, your servant has obeyed you. I have taken my life in my hand and have listened to what you have said to me. 22. Now therefore, you also obey your servant. Let me set a morsel of bread before you; and eat, that you may have strength when you go on your way.” 23. He refused and said, “I will not eat.” But his servants, together with the woman, urged him, and he listened to their words. So he arose from the earth and sat on the bed. 24. Now the woman had a fattened calf in the house, and she quickly killed it, and she took flour and kneaded it and baked unleavened bread of it, 25. and she put it before Saul and his servants, and they ate. Then they rose and went away that night.

Aconteció en aquellos días, que los filisteos reunieron sus fuerzas para pelear contra Israel. Y dijo Aquis a David: Ten entendido que has de salir conmigo a campaña, tú y tus hombres.

Saul and the Medium of En-dor

In those days the Philistines gathered their forces for war, to fight against Israel. And Achish said to David, “Understand that you and your men are to go out with me in the army.”
David said to Achish, “Very well, you shall know what your servant can do.” And Achish said to David, “Very well, I will make you my bodyguard for life.”
Now Samuel had died, and all Israel had mourned for him and buried him in Ramah, his own city. And Saul had put the mediums and the necromancers out of the land.
The Philistines assembled and came and encamped at Shunem. And Saul gathered all Israel, and they encamped at Gilboa.
When Saul saw the army of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart trembled greatly.
And when Saul inquired of the Lord, the Lord did not answer him, either by dreams, or by Urim, or by prophets.
Then Saul said to his servants, “Seek out for me a woman who is a medium, that I may go to her and inquire of her.” And his servants said to him, “Behold, there is a medium at En-dor.”

The woman said to him, “Surely you know what Saul has done, how he has cut off the mediums and the necromancers from the land. Why then are you laying a trap for my life to bring about my death?”
But Saul swore to her by the Lord, “As the Lord lives, no punishment shall come upon you for this thing.”
Then the woman said, “Whom shall I bring up for you?” He said, “Bring up Samuel for me.”
When the woman saw Samuel, she cried out with a loud voice. And the woman said to Saul, “Why have you deceived me? You are Saul.”
The king said to her, “Do not be afraid. What do you see?” And the woman said to Saul, “I see a god coming up out of the earth.”
He said to her, “What is his appearance?” And she said, “An old man is coming up, and he is wrapped in a robe.” And Saul knew that it was Samuel, and he bowed with his face to the ground and paid homage.
Then Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?” Saul answered, “I am in great distress, for the Philistines are warring against me, and God has turned away from me and answers me no more, either by prophets or by dreams. Therefore I have summoned you to tell me what I shall do.”
And Samuel said, “Why then do you ask me, since the Lord has turned from you and become your enemy?
The Lord has done to you as he spoke by me, for the Lord has torn the kingdom out of your hand and given it to your neighbor, David.
Because you did not obey the voice of the Lord and did not carry out his fierce wrath against Amalek, therefore the Lord has done this thing to you this day.
Moreover, the Lord will give Israel also with you into the hand of the Philistines, and tomorrow you and your sons shall be with me. The Lord will give the army of Israel also into the hand of the Philistines.”
Then Saul fell at once full length on the ground, filled with fear because of the words of Samuel. And there was no strength in him, for he had eaten nothing all day and all night.
And the woman came to Saul, and when she saw that he was terrified, she said to him, “Behold, your servant has obeyed you. I have taken my life in my hand and have listened to what you have said to me.
Now therefore, you also obey your servant. Let me set a morsel of bread before you; and eat, that you may have strength when you go on your way.”
He refused and said, “I will not eat.” But his servants, together with the woman, urged him, and he listened to their words. So he arose from the earth and sat on the bed.
Now the woman had a fattened calf in the house, and she quickly killed it, and she took flour and kneaded it and baked unleavened bread of it,
and she put it before Saul and his servants, and they ate. Then they rose and went away that night.
