제 12 장

애굽이 유다를 치다(왕상 14:25-28)

1   르호보암의 나라가 견고하고 세력이 강해지매 그가 여호와의 율법을 버리니 온 이스라엘이 본받은지라

2   그들이 여호와께 범죄하였으므로 르호보암 왕 제오년에 애굽 왕 시삭이 예루살렘을 치러 올라오니

3   그에게 병거가 천이백 대요 마병이 육만 명이며 애굽에서 그와 함께 온 백성 곧 리비아와 숙과 구스 사람이 헤아릴 수 없이 많더라

4   시삭이 유다의 견고한 성읍들을 빼앗고 예루살렘에 이르니

5   그 때에 유다 방백들이 시삭의 일로 예루살렘에 모였는지라 선지자 스마야가 르호보암과 방백들에게 나아와 이르되 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시기를 너희가 나를 버렸으므로 나도 너희를 버려 시삭의 손에 넘겼노라 하셨다 한지라

6   이에 이스라엘 방백들과 왕이 스스로 겸비하여 이르되 여호와는 의로우시다 하매

7   여호와께서 그들이 스스로 겸비함을 보신지라 여호와의 말씀이 스마야에게 임하여 이르시되 그들이 스스로 겸비하였으니 내가 멸하지 아니하고 저희를 조금 구원하여 나의 노를 시삭의 손을 통하여 예루살렘에 쏟지 아니하리라

8   그러나 그들이 시삭의 종이 되어 나를 섬기는 것과 세상 나라들을 섬기는 것이 어떠한지 알게 되리라 하셨더라

9   애굽 왕 시삭이 올라와서 예루살렘을 치고 여호와의 전 보물과 왕궁의 보물을 모두 빼앗고 솔로몬이 만든 금 방패도 빼앗은지라

10   르호보암 왕이 그 대신에 놋으로 방패를 만들어 궁문을 지키는 경호 책임자들의 손에 맡기매

11   왕이 여호와의 전에 들어갈 때마다 경호하는 자가 그 방패를 들고 갔다가 경호실로 도로 가져갔더라

12   르호보암이 스스로 겸비하였고 유다에 선한 일도 있으므로 여호와께서 노를 돌이키사 다 멸하지 아니하셨더라

르호보암이 죽다

13   르호보암 왕은 예루살렘에서 스스로 세력을 굳게 하여 다스리니라 르호보암이 왕위에 오를 때에 나이가 사십일 세라 예루살렘 곧 여호와께서 이스라엘의 모든 지파 중에서 택하여 그의 이름을 두신 성에서 십칠 년 동안 다스리니라 르호보암의 어머니의 이름은 나아마요 암몬 여인이더라

14   르호보암이 악을 행하였으니 이는 그가 여호와를 구하는 마음을 굳게 하지 아니함이었더라

15   르호보암의 처음부터 끝까지의 행적은 선지자 스마야와 선견자 잇도의 족보책에 기록되지 아니하였느냐 르호보암과 여로보암 사이에 항상 전쟁이 있으니라

16   르호보암이 그의 조상들과 함께 누우매 다윗 성에 장사되고 그의 아들 아비야가 그를 대신하여 왕이 되니라

Sisac invade Judá

(1 R. 14.21-31)

1Cuando Roboam había consolidado el reino, dejó la ley de Jehová, y todo Israel con él. 2Y por cuanto se habían rebelado contra Jehová, en el quinto año del rey Roboam subió Sisac rey de Egipto contra Jerusalén, 3con mil doscientos carros, y con sesenta mil hombres de a caballo; mas el pueblo que venía con él de Egipto, esto es, de libios, suquienos y etíopes, no tenía número. 4Y tomó las ciudades fortificadas de Judá, y llegó hasta Jerusalén. 5Entonces vino el profeta Semaías a Roboam y a los príncipes de Judá, que estaban reunidos en Jerusalén por causa de Sisac, y les dijo: Así ha dicho Jehová: Vosotros me habéis dejado, y yo también os he dejado en manos de Sisac. 6Y los príncipes de Israel y el rey se humillaron, y dijeron: Justo es Jehová. 7Y cuando Jehová vio que se habían humillado, vino palabra de Jehová a Semaías, diciendo: Se han humillado; no los destruiré; antes los salvaré en breve, y no se derramará mi ira contra Jerusalén por mano de Sisac. 8Pero serán sus siervos, para que sepan lo que es servirme a mí, y qué es servir a los reinos de las naciones.

9Subió, pues, Sisac rey de Egipto a Jerusalén, y tomó los tesoros de la casa de Jehová, y los tesoros de la casa del rey; todo lo llevó, y tomó los escudos de oro que Salomón había hecho. 10Y en lugar de ellos hizo el rey Roboam escudos de bronce, y los entregó a los jefes de la guardia, los cuales custodiaban la entrada de la casa del rey. 11Cuando el rey iba a la casa de Jehová, venían los de la guardia y los llevaban, y después los volvían a la cámara de la guardia. 12Y cuando él se humilló, la ira de Jehová se apartó de él, para no destruirlo del todo; y también en Judá las cosas fueron bien.

13Fortalecido, pues, Roboam, reinó en Jerusalén; y era Roboam de cuarenta y un años cuando comenzó a reinar, y diecisiete años reinó en Jerusalén, ciudad que escogió Jehová de todas las tribus de Israel para poner en ella su nombre. Y el nombre de la madre de Roboam fue Naama amonita. 14E hizo lo malo, porque no dispuso su corazón para buscar a Jehová.

15Las cosas de Roboam, primeras y postreras, ¿no están escritas en los libros del profeta Semaías y del vidente Iddo, en el registro de las familias? Y entre Roboam y Jeroboam hubo guerra constante. 16Y durmió Roboam con sus padres, y fue sepultado en la ciudad de David; y reinó en su lugar Abías su hijo.

Egypt Plunders Jerusalem

1 When the rule of Rehoboam was established and he was strong, he abandoned the law of the Lord, and all Israel with him. 2In the fifth year of King Rehoboam, because they had been unfaithful to the Lord, Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem 3with 1,200 chariots and 60,000 horsemen. And the people were without number who came with him from Egypt—Libyans, Sukkiim, and Ethiopians. 4And he took the fortified cities of Judah and came as far as Jerusalem. 5Then Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam and to the princes of Judah, who had gathered at Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said to them, “Thus says the Lord, ‘You abandoned me, so I have abandoned you to the hand of Shishak.’” 6Then the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves and said, “The Lord is righteous.” 7When the Lord saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the Lord came to Shemaiah: “They have humbled themselves. I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance, and my wrath shall not be poured out on Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak. 8Nevertheless, they shall be servants to him, that they may know my service and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.”

9 So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem. He took away the treasures of the house of the Lord and the treasures of the king’s house. He took away everything. He also took away the shields of gold that Solomon had made, 10and King Rehoboam made in their place shields of bronze and committed them to the hands of the officers of the guard, who kept the door of the king’s house. 11And as often as the king went into the house of the Lord, the guard came and carried them and brought them back to the guardroom. 12And when he humbled himself the wrath of the Lord turned from him, so as not to make a complete destruction. Moreover, conditions were good in Judah.

13 So King Rehoboam grew strong in Jerusalem and reigned. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city that the Lord had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel to put his name there. His mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonite. 14And he did evil, for he did not set his heart to seek the Lord.

15 Now the acts of Rehoboam, from first to last, are they not written in the chronicles of Shemaiah the prophet and of Iddo the seer? There were continual wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam. 16And Rehoboam slept with his fathers and was buried in the city of David, and Abijah his son reigned in his place.
