제 13 장

아비야와 여로보암의 전쟁(왕상 15:1-8)

1   여로보암 왕 열여덟째 해에 아비야가 유다의 왕이 되고

2   예루살렘에서 삼 년 동안 다스리니라 그의 어머니의 이름은 미가야요 기브아 사람 우리엘의 딸이더라 아비야가 여로보암과 더불어 싸울새

3   아비야는 싸움에 용감한 군사 사십만 명을 택하여 싸움을 준비하였고 여로보암은 큰 용사 팔십만 명을 택하여 그와 대진한지라

4   아비야가 에브라임 산 중 스마라임 산 위에 서서 이르되 여로보암과 이스라엘 무리들아 다 들으라

5   이스라엘 하나님 여호와께서 소금 언약으로 이스라엘 나라를 영원히 다윗과 그의 자손에게 주신 것을 너희가 알 것 아니냐

6   다윗의 아들 솔로몬의 신하 느밧의 아들 여로보암이 일어나 자기의 주를 배반하고

7   난봉꾼과 잡배가 모여 따르므로 스스로 강하게 되어 솔로몬의 아들 르호보암을 대적하였으나 그 때에 르호보암이 어리고 마음이 연약하여 그들의 입을 능히 막지 못하였었느니라

8   이제 너희가 또 다윗 자손의 손으로 다스리는 여호와의 나라를 대적하려 하는도다 너희는 큰 무리요 또 여로보암이 너희를 위하여 신으로 만든 금송아지들이 너희와 함께 있도다

9   너희가 아론 자손인 여호와의 제사장들과 레위 사람들을 쫓아내고 이방 백성들의 풍속을 따라 제사장을 삼지 아니하였느냐 누구를 막론하고 어린 수송아지 한 마리와 숫양 일곱 마리를 끌고 와서 장립을 받고자 하는 자마다 허무한 신들의 제사장이 될 수 있도다

10   우리에게는 여호와께서 우리 하나님이 되시니 우리가 그를 배반하지 아니하였고 여호와를 섬기는 제사장들이 있으니 아론의 자손이요 또 레위 사람들이 수종 들어

11   매일 아침 저녁으로 여호와 앞에 번제를 드리며 분향하며 또 깨끗한 상에 진설병을 놓고 또 금 등잔대가 있어 그 등에 저녁마다 불을 켜나니 우리는 우리 하나님 여호와의 계명을 지키나 너희는 그를 배반하였느니라

12   하나님이 우리와 함께 하사 우리의 머리가 되시고 그의 제사장들도 우리와 함께 하여 전쟁의 나팔을 불어 너희를 공격하느니라 이스라엘 자손들아 너희 조상들의 하나님 여호와와 싸우지 말라 너희가 형통하지 못하리라

13   여로보암이 유다의 뒤를 둘러 복병하였으므로 그 앞에는 이스라엘 사람들이 있고 그 뒤에는 복병이 있는지라

14   유다 사람이 뒤를 돌아보고 자기 앞 뒤의 적병으로 말미암아 여호와께 부르짖고 제사장들은 나팔을 부니라

15   유다 사람이 소리 지르매 유다 사람이 소리 지를 때에 하나님이 여로보암과 온 이스라엘을 아비야와 유다 앞에서 치시니

16   이스라엘 자손이 유다 앞에서 도망하는지라 하나님이 그들의 손에 넘기셨으므로

17   아비야와 그의 백성이 크게 무찌르니 이스라엘이 택한 병사들이 죽임을 당하고 엎드러진 자들이 오십만 명이었더라

18   그 때에 이스라엘 자손이 항복하고 유다 자손이 이겼으니 이는 그들이 그들의 조상들의 하나님 여호와를 의지하였음이라

19   아비야가 여로보암을 쫓아가서 그의 성읍들을 빼앗았으니 곧 벧엘과 그 동네들과 여사나와 그 동네들과 에브론과 그 동네들이라

20   아비야 때에 여로보암이 다시 강성하지 못하고 여호와의 치심을 입어 죽었고

21   아비야는 점점 강성하며 아내 열넷을 거느려 아들 스물둘과 딸 열여섯을 낳았더라

22   아비야의 남은 사적과 그의 행위와 그의 말은 선지자 잇도의 주석 책에 기록되니라

Reinado de Abías

(1 R. 15.1-8)

1A los dieciocho años del rey Jeroboam, reinó Abías sobre Judá, 2y reinó tres años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre fue Micaías hija de Uriel de Gabaa.

Y hubo guerra entre Abías y Jeroboam. 3Entonces Abías ordenó batalla con un ejército de cuatrocientos mil hombres de guerra, valerosos y escogidos; y Jeroboam ordenó batalla contra él con ochocientos mil hombres escogidos, fuertes y valerosos. 4Y se levantó Abías sobre el monte de Zemaraim, que está en los montes de Efraín, y dijo: Oídme, Jeroboam y todo Israel. 5¿No sabéis vosotros que Jehová Dios de Israel dio el reino a David sobre Israel para siempre, a él y a sus hijos, bajo pacto de sal? 6Pero Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, siervo de Salomón hijo de David, se levantó y rebeló contra su señor. 7Y se juntaron con él hombres vanos y perversos, y pudieron más que Roboam hijo de Salomón, porque Roboam era joven y pusilánime, y no se defendió de ellos.

8Y ahora vosotros tratáis de resistir al reino de Jehová en mano de los hijos de David, porque sois muchos, y tenéis con vosotros los becerros de oro que Jeroboam os hizo por dioses. 9¿No habéis arrojado vosotros a los sacerdotes de Jehová, a los hijos de Aarón y a los levitas, y os habéis designado sacerdotes a la manera de los pueblos de otras tierras, para que cualquiera venga a consagrarse con un becerro y siete carneros, y así sea sacerdote de los que no son dioses? 10Mas en cuanto a nosotros, Jehová es nuestro Dios, y no le hemos dejado; y los sacerdotes que ministran delante de Jehová son los hijos de Aarón, y los que están en la obra son levitas, 11los cuales queman para Jehová los holocaustos cada mañana y cada tarde, y el incienso aromático; y ponen los panes sobre la mesa limpia, y el candelero de oro con sus lámparas para que ardan cada tarde; porque nosotros guardamos la ordenanza de Jehová nuestro Dios, mas vosotros le habéis dejado. 12Y he aquí Dios está con nosotros por jefe, y sus sacerdotes con las trompetas del júbilo para que suenen contra vosotros. Oh hijos de Israel, no peleéis contra Jehová el Dios de vuestros padres, porque no prosperaréis.

13Pero Jeroboam hizo tender una emboscada para venir a ellos por la espalda; y estando así delante de ellos, la emboscada estaba a espaldas de Judá. 14Y cuando miró Judá, he aquí que tenía batalla por delante y a las espaldas; por lo que clamaron a Jehová, y los sacerdotes tocaron las trompetas. 15Entonces los de Judá gritaron con fuerza; y así que ellos alzaron el grito, Dios desbarató a Jeroboam y a todo Israel delante de Abías y de Judá; 16y huyeron los hijos de Israel delante de Judá, y Dios los entregó en sus manos. 17Y Abías y su gente hicieron en ellos una gran matanza, y cayeron heridos de Israel quinientos mil hombres escogidos. 18Así fueron humillados los hijos de Israel en aquel tiempo, y los hijos de Judá prevalecieron, porque se apoyaban en Jehová el Dios de sus padres. 19Y siguió Abías a Jeroboam, y le tomó algunas ciudades, a Bet-el con sus aldeas, a Jesana con sus aldeas, y a Efraín con sus aldeas. 20Y nunca más tuvo Jeroboam poder en los días de Abías; y Jehová lo hirió, y murió. 21Pero Abías se hizo más poderoso. Tomó catorce mujeres, y engendró veintidós hijos y dieciséis hijas. 22Los demás hechos de Abías, sus caminos y sus dichos, están escritos en la historia de Iddo profeta.

Abijah Reigns in Judah

1 In the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam, Abijah began to reign over Judah. 2He reigned for three years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Micaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah.

Now there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam. 3Abijah went out to battle, having an army of valiant men of war, 400,000 chosen men. And Jeroboam drew up his line of battle against him with 800,000 chosen mighty warriors. 4Then Abijah stood up on Mount Zemaraim that is in the hill country of Ephraim and said, “Hear me, O Jeroboam and all Israel! 5Ought you not to know that the Lord God of Israel gave the kingship over Israel forever to David and his sons by a covenant of salt? 6Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, a servant of Solomon the son of David, rose up and rebelled against his lord, 7and certain worthless scoundrels gathered about him and defied Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and irresolute and could not withstand them.

8“And now you think to withstand the kingdom of the Lord in the hand of the sons of David, because you are a great multitude and have with you the golden calves that Jeroboam made you for gods. 9Have you not driven out the priests of the Lord, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and made priests for yourselves like the peoples of other lands? Whoever comes for ordination with a young bull or seven rams becomes a priest of what are not gods. 10But as for us, the Lord is our God, and we have not forsaken him. We have priests ministering to the Lord who are sons of Aaron, and Levites for their service. 11They offer to the Lord every morning and every evening burnt offerings and incense of sweet spices, set out the showbread on the table of pure gold, and care for the golden lampstand that its lamps may burn every evening. For we keep the charge of the Lord our God, but you have forsaken him. 12Behold, God is with us at our head, and his priests with their battle trumpets to sound the call to battle against you. O sons of Israel, do not fight against the Lord, the God of your fathers, for you cannot succeed.”

13Jeroboam had sent an ambush around to come upon them from behind. Thus his troops were in front of Judah, and the ambush was behind them. 14And when Judah looked, behold, the battle was in front of and behind them. And they cried to the Lord, and the priests blew the trumpets. 15Then the men of Judah raised the battle shout. And when the men of Judah shouted, God defeated Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah. 16The men of Israel fled before Judah, and God gave them into their hand. 17Abijah and his people struck them with great force, so there fell slain of Israel 500,000 chosen men. 18Thus the men of Israel were subdued at that time, and the men of Judah prevailed, because they relied on the Lord, the God of their fathers. 19And Abijah pursued Jeroboam and took cities from him, Bethel with its villages and Jeshanah with its villages and Ephron with its villages. 20Jeroboam did not recover his power in the days of Abijah. And the Lord struck him down, and he died. 21But Abijah grew mighty. And he took fourteen wives and had twenty-two sons and sixteen daughters. 22The rest of the acts of Abijah, his ways and his sayings, are written in the story of the prophet Iddo.
