이스라엘과 유다의 충돌
아사 왕 제삼십육년에 이스라엘 왕 바아사가 유다를 치러 올라와서 라마를 건축하여 사람을 유다 왕 아사에게 왕래하지 못하게 하려 한지라
아사가 여호와의 전 곳간과 왕궁 곳간의 은금을 내어다가 다메섹에 사는 아람 왕 벤하닷에게 보내며 이르되
내 아버지와 당신의 아버지 사이에와 같이 나와 당신 사이에 약조하자 내가 당신에게 은금을 보내노니 와서 이스라엘 왕 바아사와 세운 약조를 깨뜨려 그가 나를 떠나게 하라 하매
벤하닷이 아사 왕의 말을 듣고 그의 군대 지휘관들을 보내어 이스라엘 성읍들을 치되 이욘과 단과 아벨마임과 납달리의 모든 국고성들을 쳤더니
바아사가 듣고 라마 건축하는 일을 포기하고 그 공사를 그친지라
아사 왕이 온 유다 무리를 거느리고 바아사가 라마를 건축하던 돌과 재목을 운반하여다가 게바와 미스바를 건축하였더라
그 때에 선견자 하나니가 유다 왕 아사에게 나와서 그에게 이르되 왕이 아람 왕을 의지하고 왕의 하나님 여호와를 의지하지 아니하였으므로 아람 왕의 군대가 왕의 손에서 벗어났나이다
구스 사람과 룹 사람의 군대가 크지 아니하며 말과 병거가 심히 많지 아니하더이까 그러나 왕이 여호와를 의지하였으므로 여호와께서 왕의 손에 넘기셨나이다
여호와의 눈은 온 땅을 두루 감찰하사 전심으로 자기에게 향하는 자들을 위하여 능력을 베푸시나니 이 일은 왕이 망령되이 행하였은즉 이 후부터는 왕에게 전쟁이 있으리이다 하매
아사가 노하여 선견자를 옥에 가두었으니 이는 그의 말에 크게 노하였음이며 그 때에 아사가 또 백성 중에서 몇 사람을 학대하였더라
아사의 처음부터 끝까지의 행적은 유다와 이스라엘 열왕기에 기록되니라
아사가 왕이 된 지 삼십구 년에 그의 발이 병들어 매우 위독했으나 병이 있을 때에 그가 여호와께 구하지 아니하고 의원들에게 구하였더라
아사가 왕위에 있은 지 사십일 년 후에 죽어 그의 조상들과 함께 누우매
다윗 성에 자기를 위하여 파 두었던 묘실에 무리가 장사하되 그의 시체를 법대로 만든 각양 향 재료를 가득히 채운 상에 두고 또 그것을 위하여 많이 분향하였더라

Alianza de Asa con Ben-adad
(1 R. 15.16-22)
1En el año treinta y seis del reinado de Asa, subió Baasa rey de Israel contra Judá, y fortificó a Ramá, para no dejar salir ni entrar a ninguno al rey Asa, rey de Judá. 2Entonces sacó Asa la plata y el oro de los tesoros de la casa de Jehová y de la casa real, y envió a Ben-adad rey de Siria, que estaba en Damasco, diciendo: 3Haya alianza entre tú y yo, como la hubo entre tu padre y mi padre; he aquí yo te he enviado plata y oro, para que vengas y deshagas la alianza que tienes con Baasa rey de Israel, a fin de que se retire de mí. 4Y consintió Ben-adad con el rey Asa, y envió los capitanes de sus ejércitos contra las ciudades de Israel; y conquistaron Ijón, Dan, Abel-maim y las ciudades de aprovisionamiento de Neftalí. 5Oyendo esto Baasa, cesó de edificar a Ramá, y abandonó su obra. 6Entonces el rey Asa tomó a todo Judá, y se llevaron de Ramá la piedra y la madera con que Baasa edificaba, y con ellas edificó a Geba y a Mizpa.
7En aquel tiempo vino el vidente Hanani a Asa rey de Judá, y le dijo: Por cuanto te has apoyado en el rey de Siria, y no te apoyaste en Jehová tu Dios, por eso el ejército del rey de Siria ha escapado de tus manos. 8Los etíopes y los libios, ¿no eran un ejército numerosísimo, con carros y mucha gente de a caballo? Con todo, porque te apoyaste en Jehová, él los entregó en tus manos. 9Porque los ojos de Jehová contemplan toda la tierra, para mostrar su poder a favor de los que tienen corazón perfecto para con él. Locamente has hecho en esto; porque de aquí en adelante habrá más guerra contra ti. 10Entonces se enojó Asa contra el vidente y lo echó en la cárcel, porque se encolerizó grandemente a causa de esto. Y oprimió Asa en aquel tiempo a algunos del pueblo.
Muerte de Asa
(1 R. 15.23-24)
11Mas he aquí los hechos de Asa, primeros y postreros, están escritos en el libro de los reyes de Judá y de Israel. 12En el año treinta y nueve de su reinado, Asa enfermó gravemente de los pies, y en su enfermedad no buscó a Jehová, sino a los médicos. 13Y durmió Asa con sus padres, y murió en el año cuarenta y uno de su reinado. 14Y lo sepultaron en los sepulcros que él había hecho para sí en la ciudad de David; y lo pusieron en un ataúd, el cual llenaron de perfumes y diversas especias aromáticas, preparadas por expertos perfumistas; e hicieron un gran fuego en su honor.

Asa’s Last Years
1 In the thirty-sixth year of the reign of Asa, Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah and built Ramah, that he might permit no one to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah. 2Then Asa took silver and gold from the treasures of the house of the Lord and the king’s house and sent them to Ben-hadad king of Syria, who lived in Damascus, saying, 3“There is a covenant between me and you, as there was between my father and your father. Behold, I am sending to you silver and gold. Go, break your covenant with Baasha king of Israel, that he may withdraw from me.” 4And Ben-hadad listened to King Asa and sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Israel, and they conquered Ijon, Dan, Abel-maim, and all the store cities of Naphtali. 5And when Baasha heard of it, he stopped building Ramah and let his work cease. 6Then King Asa took all Judah, and they carried away the stones of Ramah and its timber, with which Baasha had been building, and with them he built Geba and Mizpah.
7At that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said to him, “Because you relied on the king of Syria, and did not rely on the Lord your God, the army of the king of Syria has escaped you. 8Were not the Ethiopians and the Libyans a huge army with very many chariots and horsemen? Yet because you relied on the Lord, he gave them into your hand. 9For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him. You have done foolishly in this, for from now on you will have wars.” 10Then Asa was angry with the seer and put him in the stocks in prison, for he was in a rage with him because of this. And Asa inflicted cruelties upon some of the people at the same time.
11 The acts of Asa, from first to last, are written in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel. 12In the thirty-ninth year of his reign Asa was diseased in his feet, and his disease became severe. Yet even in his disease he did not seek the Lord, but sought help from physicians. 13And Asa slept with his fathers, dying in the forty-first year of his reign. 14They buried him in the tomb that he had cut for himself in the city of David. They laid him on a bier that had been filled with various kinds of spices prepared by the perfumer’s art, and they made a very great fire in his honor.
