제 17 장

이스라엘 왕 호세아

1 유다의 왕 아하스 제십이년에 엘라의 아들 호세아가 사마리아에서 이스라엘 왕이 되어 구 년간 다스리며

2 여호와께서 보시기에 악을 행하였으나 다만 그 전 이스라엘 여러 왕들과 같이 하지는 아니하였더라

3 앗수르의 왕 살만에셀이 올라오니 호세아가 그에게 종이 되어 조공을 드리더니

4 그가 애굽의 왕 소에게 사자들을 보내고 해마다 하던 대로 앗수르 왕에게 조공을 드리지 아니하매 앗수르 왕이 호세아가 배반함을 보고 그를 옥에 감금하여 두고

5 앗수르 왕이 올라와 그 온 땅에 두루다니고 사마리아로 올라와 그 곳을 삼 년간 에워쌌더라

6 호세아 제구년에 앗수르 왕이 사마리아를 점령하고 이스라엘 사람을 사로잡아 앗수르로 끌어다가 고산 강 가에 있는 할라와 하볼과 메대 사람의 여러 고을에 두었더라

앗수르 왕이 사마리아를 차지하다

7 이 일은 이스라엘 자손이 자기를 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 내사 애굽의 왕 바로의 손에서 벗어나게 하신 그 하나님 여호와께 죄를 범하고 또 다른 신들을 경외하며

8 여호와께서 이스라엘 자손 앞에서 쫓아내신 이방 사람의 규례와 이스라엘 여러 왕이 세운 율례를 행하였음이라

9 이스라엘의 자손이 점차로 불의를 행하여 그 하나님 여호와를 배역하여 모든 성읍에 망대로부터 견고한 성에 이르도록 산당을 세우고

10 모든 산 위에와 모든 푸른 나무 아래에 목상과 아세라 상을 세우고

11 또 여호와께서 그들 앞에서 물리치신 이방 사람 같이 그 곳 모든 산당에서 분향하며 또 악을 행하여 여호와를 격노하게 하였으며

12 또 우상을 섬겼으니 이는 여호와께서 그들에게 행하지 말라고 말씀하신 일이라

13 여호와께서 각 선지자와 각 선견자를 통하여 이스라엘과 유다에게 지정하여 이르시기를 너희는 돌이켜 너희 악한 길에서 떠나 나의 명령과 율례를 지키되 내가 너희 조상들에게 명령하고 또 내 종 선지자들을 통하여 너희에게 전한 모든 율법대로 행하라 하셨으나

14 그들이 듣지 아니하고 그들의 목을 곧게 하기를 그들의 하나님 여호와를 믿지 아니하던 그들 조상들의 목 같이 하여

15 여호와의 율례와 여호와께서 그들의 조상들과 더불어 세우신 언약과 경계하신 말씀을 버리고 허무한 것을 뒤따라 허망하며 또 여호와께서 명령하사 따르지 말라 하신 사방 이방 사람을 따라

16 그들의 하나님 여호와의 모든 명령을 버리고 자기들을 위하여 두 송아지 형상을 부어 만들고 또 아세라 목상을 만들고 하늘의 일월 성신을 경배하며 또 바알을 섬기고

17 또 자기 자녀를 불 가운데로 지나가게 하며 복술과 사술을 행하고 스스로 팔려 여호와 보시기에 악을 행하여 그를 격노하게 하였으므로

18 여호와께서 이스라엘에게 심히 노하사 그들을 그의 앞에서 제거하시니 오직 유다 지파 외에는 남은 자가 없으니라

19 유다도 그들의 하나님 여호와의 명령을 지키지 아니하고 이스라엘 사람들이 만든 관습을 행하였으므로

20 여호와께서 이스라엘의 온 족속을 버리사 괴롭게 하시며 노략꾼의 손에 넘기시고 마침내 그의 앞에서 쫓아내시니라

21 이스라엘을 다윗의 집에서 찢어 나누시매 그들이 느밧의 아들 여로보암을 왕으로 삼았더니 여로보암이 이스라엘을 몰아 여호와를 떠나고 큰 죄를 범하게 하매

22 이스라엘 자손이 여로보암이 행한 모든 죄를 따라 행하여 거기서 떠나지 아니하므로

23 여호와께서 그의 종 모든 선지자를 통하여 하신 말씀대로 드디어 이스라엘을 그 앞에서 내쫓으신지라 이스라엘이 고향에서 앗수르에 사로잡혀 가서 오늘까지 이르렀더라

앗수르 사람들이 사마리아에 거주하다

24 앗수르 왕이 바벨론과 구다와 아와와 하맛과 스발와임에서 사람을 옮겨다가 이스라엘 자손을 대신하여 사마리아 여러 성읍에 두매 그들이 사마리아를 차지하고 그 여러 성읍에 거주하니라

25 그들이 처음으로 거기 거주할 때에 여호와를 경외하지 아니하므로 여호와께서 사자들을 그들 가운데에 보내시매 몇 사람을 죽인지라

26 그러므로 어떤 사람이 앗수르 왕에게 말하여 이르되 왕께서 사마리아 여러 성읍에 옮겨 거주하게 하신 민족들이 그 땅 신의 법을 알지 못하므로 그들의 신이 사자들을 그들 가운데에 보내매 그들을 죽였사오니 이는 그들이 그 땅 신의 법을 알지 못함이니이다 하니라

27 앗수르 왕이 명령하여 이르되 너희는 그 곳에서 사로잡아 온 제사장 한 사람을 그 곳으로 데려가되 그가 그 곳에 가서 거주하며 그 땅 신의 법을 무리에게 가르치게 하라 하니

28 이에 사마리아에서 사로잡혀 간 제사장 중 한 사람이 와서 벧엘에 살며 백성에게 어떻게 여호와 경외할지를 가르쳤더라

29 그러나 각 민족이 각기 자기의 신상들을 만들어 사마리아 사람이 지은 여러 산당들에 두되 각 민족이 자기들이 거주한 성읍에서 그렇게 하여

30 바벨론 사람들은 숙곳브놋을 만들었고 굿 사람들은 네르갈을 만들었고 하맛 사람들은 아시마를 만들었고

31 아와 사람들은 닙하스와 다르닥을 만들었고 스발와임 사람들은 그 자녀를 불살라 그들의 신 아드람멜렉과 아남멜렉에게 드렸으며

32 그들이 또 여호와를 경외하여 자기 중에서 사람을 산당의 제사장으로 택하여 그 산당들에서 자기를 위하여 제사를 드리게 하니라

33 이와 같이 그들이 여호와도 경외하고 또한 어디서부터 옮겨왔든지 그 민족의 풍속대로 자기의 신들도 섬겼더라

34 그들이 오늘까지 이전 풍속대로 행하여 여호와를 경외하지 아니하며 또 여호와께서 이스라엘이라 이름을 주신 야곱의 자손에게 명령하신 율례와 법도와 율법과 계명을 준행하지 아니하는도다

35 옛적에 여호와께서 야곱의 자손에게 언약을 세우시고 그들에게 명령하여 이르시되 너희는 다른 신을 경외하지 말며 그를 경배하지 말며 그를 섬기지 말며 그에게 제사하지 말고

36 오직 큰 능력과 편 팔로 너희를 애굽에서 인도하여 내신 여호와만 경외하여 그를 예배하며 그에게 제사를 드릴 것이며

37 또 여호와가 너희를 위하여 기록한 율례와 법도와 율법과 계명을 지켜 영원히 행하고 다른 신들을 경외하지 말며

38 또 내가 너희와 세운 언약을 잊지 말며 다른 신들을 경외하지 말고

39 오직 너희 하나님 여호와만을 경외하라 그가 너희를 모든 원수의 손에서 건져내리라 하셨으나

40 그러나 그들이 듣지 아니하고 오히려 이전 풍속대로 행하였느니라

41 이 여러 민족이 여호와를 경외하고 또 그 아로새긴 우상을 섬기니 그들의 자자 손손이 그들의 조상들이 행하던 대로 그들도 오늘까지 행하니라

En el año duodécimo de Acaz rey de Judá, comenzó a reinar Oseas hijo de Ela en Samaria sobre Israel; y reinó nueve años. 2. E hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, aunque no como los reyes de Israel que habían sido antes de él. 3. Contra este subió Salmanasar rey de los asirios; y Oseas fue hecho su siervo, y le pagaba tributo. 4. Mas el rey de Asiria descubrió que Oseas conspiraba; porque había enviado embajadores a So, rey de Egipto, y no pagaba tributo al rey de Asiria, como lo hacía cada año; por lo que el rey de Asiria le detuvo, y le aprisionó en la casa de la cárcel. 5. Y el rey de Asiria invadió todo el país, y sitió a Samaria, y estuvo sobre ella tres años. 6. En el año nueve de Oseas, el rey de Asiria tomó Samaria, y llevó a Israel cautivo a Asiria, y los puso en Halah, en Habor junto al río Gozán, y en las ciudades de los medos. 7. Y los hijos de Israel hicieron secretamente cosas no rectas contra Jehová su Dios, edificándose lugares altos en todas sus ciudades, desde las torres de las atalayas hasta las ciudades fortificadas, 10. y levantaron estatuas e imágenes de Asera en todo collado alto, y debajo de todo árbol frondoso, 11. y quemaron allí incienso en todos los lugares altos, a la manera de las naciones que Jehová había traspuesto de delante de ellos, e hicieron cosas muy malas para provocar a ira a Jehová. 12. Y desecharon sus estatutos, y el pacto que él había hecho con sus padres, y los testimonios que él había prescrito a ellos; y siguieron la vanidad, y se hicieron vanos, y fueron en pos de las naciones que estaban alrededor de ellos, de las cuales Jehová les había mandado que no hiciesen a la manera de ellas. 16. Dejaron todos los mandamientos de Jehová su Dios, y se hicieron imágenes fundidas de dos becerros, y también imágenes de Asera, y adoraron a todo el ejército de los cielos, y sirvieron a Baal; 17. e hicieron pasar a sus hijos y a sus hijas por fuego; y se dieron a adivinaciones y agüeros, y se entregaron a hacer lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, provocándole a ira. 18. Jehová, por tanto, se airó en gran manera contra Israel, y los quitó de delante de su rostro; y no quedó sino solo la tribu de Judá. 19. Y desechó Jehová a toda la descendencia de Israel, y los afligió, y los entregó en manos de saqueadores, hasta echarlos de su presencia. 21. Porque separó a Israel de la casa de David, y ellos hicieron rey a Jeroboam hijo de Nabat; y Jeroboam apartó a Israel de en pos de Jehová, y les hizo cometer gran pecado. 22. Y los hijos de Israel anduvieron en todos los pecados de Jeroboam que él hizo, sin apartarse de ellos, 23. hasta que Jehová quitó a Israel de delante de su rostro, como él lo había dicho por medio de todos los profetas sus siervos; e Israel fue llevado cautivo de su tierra a Asiria, hasta hoy. Asiria puebla de nuevo a Samaria 24. Y trajo el rey de Asiria gente de Babilonia, de Cuta, de Ava, de Hamat y de Sefarvaim, y los puso en las ciudades de Samaria, en lugar de los hijos de Israel; y poseyeron a Samaria, y habitaron en sus ciudades. 25. Y aconteció al principio, cuando comenzaron a habitar allí, que no temiendo ellos a Jehová, envió Jehová contra ellos leones que los mataban. 26. Dijeron, pues, al rey de Asiria: Las gentes que tú trasladaste y pusiste en las ciudades de Samaria, no conocen la ley del Dios de aquella tierra, y él ha echado leones en medio de ellos, y he aquí que los leones los matan, porque no conocen la ley del Dios de la tierra. 27. Y el rey de Asiria mandó, diciendo: Llevad allí a alguno de los sacerdotes que trajisteis de allá, y vaya y habite allí, y les enseñe la ley del Dios del país. 28. Y vino uno de los sacerdotes que habían llevado cautivo de Samaria, y habitó en Bet-el, y les enseñó cómo habían de temer a Jehová. 29. Pero cada nación se hizo sus dioses, y los pusieron en los templos de los lugares altos que habían hecho los de Samaria; cada nación en su ciudad donde habitaba. 30. Los de Babilonia hicieron a Sucot-benot, los de Cuta hicieron a Nergal, y los de Hamat hicieron a Asima. 31. Los aveos hicieron a Nibhaz y a Tartac, y los de Sefarvaim quemaban sus hijos en el fuego para adorar a Adramelec y a Anamelec, dioses de Sefarvaim. 32. Temían a Jehová, e hicieron del bajo pueblo sacerdotes de los lugares altos, que sacrificaban para ellos en los templos de los lugares altos. 33. Temían a Jehová, y honraban a sus dioses, según la costumbre de las naciones de donde habían sido trasladados. 34. Hasta hoy hacen como antes: ni temen a Jehová, ni guardan sus estatutos ni sus ordenanzas, ni hacen según la ley y los mandamientos que prescribió Jehová a los hijos de Jacob, al cual puso el nombre de Israel; 35. con los cuales Jehová había hecho pacto, y les mandó diciendo: No temeréis a otros dioses, ni los adoraréis, ni les serviréis, ni les haréis sacrificios. 36. Mas a Jehová, que os sacó de tierra de Egipto con grande poder y brazo extendido, a este temeréis, y a este adoraréis, y a este haréis sacrificio. 37. Los estatutos y derechos y ley y mandamientos que os dio por escrito, cuidaréis siempre de ponerlos por obra, y no temeréis a dioses ajenos. 38. No olvidaréis el pacto que hice con vosotros, ni temeréis a dioses ajenos; 39. mas temed a Jehová vuestro Dios, y él os librará de mano de todos vuestros enemigos. 40. Pero ellos no escucharon; antes hicieron según su costumbre antigua. 41. Así temieron a Jehová aquellas gentes, y al mismo tiempo sirvieron a sus ídolos; y también sus hijos y sus nietos, según como hicieron sus padres, así hacen hasta hoy. 2 #Kings 17 Hoshea Reigns in Israel 1. In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah, Hoshea the son of Elah began to reign in Samaria over Israel, and he reigned nine years. 2. And he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, yet not as the kings of Israel who were before him. 3. Against him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria. And Hoshea became his vassal and paid him tribute. 4. But the king of Assyria found treachery in Hoshea, for he had sent messengers to So, king of Egypt, and offered no tribute to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year. Therefore the king of Assyria shut him up and bound him in prison. 5. Then the king of Assyria invaded all the land and came to Samaria, and for three years he besieged it. The Fall of Israel 6. In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria captured Samaria, and he carried the Israelites away to Assyria and placed them in Halah, and on the Habor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes. And this occurred because the people of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God, who had brought them up out of the land of Egypt from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods 8. and walked in the customs of the nations whom the Lord drove out before the people of Israel, and in the customs that the kings of Israel had practiced. 9. And the people of Israel did secretly against the Lord their God things that were not right. They built for themselves high places in all their towns, from watchtower to fortified city. 10. They set up for themselves pillars and Asherim on every high hill and under every green tree, 11. and there they made offerings on all the high places, as the nations did whom the Lord carried away before them. And they did wicked things, provoking the Lord to anger, 12. and they served idols, of which the Lord had said to them, “You shall not do this.” 13. Yet the Lord warned Israel and Judah by every prophet and every seer, saying, “Turn from your evil ways and keep my commandments and my statutes, in accordance with all the Law that I commanded your fathers, and that I sent to you by my servants the prophets.” 14. But they would not listen, but were stubborn, as their fathers had been, who did not believe in the Lord their God. 15. They despised his statutes and his covenant that he made with their fathers and the warnings that he gave them. They went after false idols and became false, and they followed the nations that were around them, concerning whom the Lord had commanded them that they should not do like them. 16. And they abandoned all the commandments of the Lord their God, and made for themselves metal images of two calves; and they made an Asherah and worshiped all the host of heaven and served Baal. 17. And they burned their sons and their daughters as offerings and used divination and omens and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking him to anger. 18. Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel and removed them out of his sight. None was left but the tribe of Judah only. 19. Judah also did not keep the commandments of the Lord their God, but walked in the customs that Israel had introduced. 20. And the Lord rejected all the descendants of Israel and afflicted them and gave them into the hand of plunderers, until he had cast them out of his sight. 21. When he had torn Israel from the house of David, they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king. And Jeroboam drove Israel from following the Lord and made them commit great sin. 22. The people of Israel walked in all the sins that Jeroboam did. They did not depart from them, 23. until the Lord removed Israel out of his sight, as he had spoken by all his servants the prophets. So Israel was exiled from their own land to Assyria until this day. Assyria Resettles Samaria 24. And the king of Assyria brought people from Babylon, Cuthah, Avva, Hamath, and Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the people of Israel. And they took possession of Samaria and lived in its cities. 25. And at the beginning of their dwelling there, they did not fear the Lord. Therefore the Lord sent lions among them, which killed some of them. 26. So the king of Assyria was told, “The nations that you have carried away and placed in the cities of Samaria do not know the law of the god of the land. Therefore he has sent lions among them, and behold, they are killing them, because they do not know the law of the god of the land.” 27. Then the king of Assyria commanded, “Send there one of the priests whom you carried away from there, and let him go and dwell there and teach them the law of the god of the land.” 28. So one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and lived in Bethel and taught them how they should fear the Lord. 29. But every nation still made gods of its own and put them in the shrines of the high places that the Samaritans had made, every nation in the cities in which they lived. 30. The men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, the men of Cuth made Nergal, the men of Hamath made Ashima, 31. and the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak; and the Sepharvites burned their children in the fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim. 32. They also feared the Lord and appointed from among themselves all sorts of people as priests of the high places, who sacrificed for them in the shrines of the high places. 33. So they feared the Lord but also served their own gods, after the manner of the nations from among whom they had been carried away. 34. To this day they do according to the former manner. They do not fear the Lord, and they do not follow the statutes or the rules or the law or the commandment that the Lord commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel. 35. The Lord made a covenant with them and commanded them, “You shall not fear other gods or bow yourselves to them or serve them or sacrifice to them, 36. but you shall fear the Lord, who brought you out of the land of Egypt with great power and with an outstretched arm. You shall bow yourselves to him, and to him you shall sacrifice. 37. And the statutes and the rules and the law and the commandment that he wrote for you, you shall always be careful to do. You shall not fear other gods, 38. and you shall not forget the covenant that I have made with you. You shall not fear other gods, 39. but you shall fear the Lord your God, and he will deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.” 40. However, they would not listen, but they did according to their former manner. 41. So these nations feared the Lord and also served their carved images. Their children did likewise, and their children’s children—as their fathers did, so they do to this day.

Caída de Samaria y cautiverio de Israel

En el año duodécimo de Acaz rey de Judá, comenzó a reinar Oseas hijo de Ela en Samaria sobre Israel; y reinó nueve años.
E hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, aunque no como los reyes de Israel que habían sido antes de él.
Contra este subió Salmanasar rey de los asirios; y Oseas fue hecho su siervo, y le pagaba tributo.
Mas el rey de Asiria descubrió que Oseas conspiraba; porque había enviado embajadores a So, rey de Egipto, y no pagaba tributo al rey de Asiria, como lo hacía cada año; por lo que el rey de Asiria le detuvo, y le aprisionó en la casa de la cárcel.
Y el rey de Asiria invadió todo el país, y sitió a Samaria, y estuvo sobre ella tres años.
En el año nueve de Oseas, el rey de Asiria tomó Samaria, y llevó a Israel cautivo a Asiria, y los puso en Halah, en Habor junto al río Gozán, y en las ciudades de los medos.
Porque los hijos de Israel pecaron contra Jehová su Dios, que los sacó de tierra de Egipto, de bajo la mano de Faraón rey de Egipto, y temieron a dioses ajenos,
y anduvieron en los estatutos de las naciones que Jehová había lanzado de delante de los hijos de Israel, y en los estatutos que hicieron los reyes de Israel.
Y los hijos de Israel hicieron secretamente cosas no rectas contra Jehová su Dios, edificándose lugares altos en todas sus ciudades, desde las torres de las atalayas hasta las ciudades fortificadas,
y levantaron estatuas e imágenes de Asera en todo collado alto, y debajo de todo árbol frondoso,
y quemaron allí incienso en todos los lugares altos, a la manera de las naciones que Jehová había traspuesto de delante de ellos, e hicieron cosas muy malas para provocar a ira a Jehová.
Y servían a los ídolos, de los cuales Jehová les había dicho: Vosotros no habéis de hacer esto.
Jehová amonestó entonces a Israel y a Judá por medio de todos los profetas y de todos los videntes, diciendo: Volveos de vuestros malos caminos, y guardad mis mandamientos y mis ordenanzas, conforme a todas las leyes que yo prescribí a vuestros padres, y que os he enviado por medio de mis siervos los profetas.
Mas ellos no obedecieron, antes endurecieron su cerviz, como la cerviz de sus padres, los cuales no creyeron en Jehová su Dios.
Y desecharon sus estatutos, y el pacto que él había hecho con sus padres, y los testimonios que él había prescrito a ellos; y siguieron la vanidad, y se hicieron vanos, y fueron en pos de las naciones que estaban alrededor de ellos, de las cuales Jehová les había mandado que no hiciesen a la manera de ellas.
Dejaron todos los mandamientos de Jehová su Dios, y se hicieron imágenes fundidas de dos becerros, y también imágenes de Asera, y adoraron a todo el ejército de los cielos, y sirvieron a Baal;
e hicieron pasar a sus hijos y a sus hijas por fuego; y se dieron a adivinaciones y agüeros, y se entregaron a hacer lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, provocándole a ira.
Jehová, por tanto, se airó en gran manera contra Israel, y los quitó de delante de su rostro; y no quedó sino solo la tribu de Judá.
Mas ni aun Judá guardó los mandamientos de Jehová su Dios, sino que anduvieron en los estatutos de Israel, los cuales habían ellos hecho.
Y desechó Jehová a toda la descendencia de Israel, y los afligió, y los entregó en manos de saqueadores, hasta echarlos de su presencia.
Porque separó a Israel de la casa de David, y ellos hicieron rey a Jeroboam hijo de Nabat; y Jeroboam apartó a Israel de en pos de Jehová, y les hizo cometer gran pecado.
Y los hijos de Israel anduvieron en todos los pecados de Jeroboam que él hizo, sin apartarse de ellos,
hasta que Jehová quitó a Israel de delante de su rostro, como él lo había dicho por medio de todos los profetas sus siervos; e Israel fue llevado cautivo de su tierra a Asiria, hasta hoy.

Asiria puebla de nuevo a Samaria
Y trajo el rey de Asiria gente de Babilonia, de Cuta, de Ava, de Hamat y de Sefarvaim, y los puso en las ciudades de Samaria, en lugar de los hijos de Israel; y poseyeron a Samaria, y habitaron en sus ciudades.
Y aconteció al principio, cuando comenzaron a habitar allí, que no temiendo ellos a Jehová, envió Jehová contra ellos leones que los mataban.
Dijeron, pues, al rey de Asiria: Las gentes que tú trasladaste y pusiste en las ciudades de Samaria, no conocen la ley del Dios de aquella tierra, y él ha echado leones en medio de ellos, y he aquí que los leones los matan, porque no conocen la ley del Dios de la tierra.
Y el rey de Asiria mandó, diciendo: Llevad allí a alguno de los sacerdotes que trajisteis de allá, y vaya y habite allí, y les enseñe la ley del Dios del país.
Y vino uno de los sacerdotes que habían llevado cautivo de Samaria, y habitó en Bet-el, y les enseñó cómo habían de temer a Jehová.
Pero cada nación se hizo sus dioses, y los pusieron en los templos de los lugares altos que habían hecho los de Samaria; cada nación en su ciudad donde habitaba.
Los de Babilonia hicieron a Sucot-benot, los de Cuta hicieron a Nergal, y los de Hamat hicieron a Asima.
Los aveos hicieron a Nibhaz y a Tartac, y los de Sefarvaim quemaban sus hijos en el fuego para adorar a Adramelec y a Anamelec, dioses de Sefarvaim.
Temían a Jehová, e hicieron del bajo pueblo sacerdotes de los lugares altos, que sacrificaban para ellos en los templos de los lugares altos.
Temían a Jehová, y honraban a sus dioses, según la costumbre de las naciones de donde habían sido trasladados.
Hasta hoy hacen como antes: ni temen a Jehová, ni guardan sus estatutos ni sus ordenanzas, ni hacen según la ley y los mandamientos que prescribió Jehová a los hijos de Jacob, al cual puso el nombre de Israel;
con los cuales Jehová había hecho pacto, y les mandó diciendo: No temeréis a otros dioses, ni los adoraréis, ni les serviréis, ni les haréis sacrificios.
Mas a Jehová, que os sacó de tierra de Egipto con grande poder y brazo extendido, a este temeréis, y a este adoraréis, y a este haréis sacrificio.
Los estatutos y derechos y ley y mandamientos que os dio por escrito, cuidaréis siempre de ponerlos por obra, y no temeréis a dioses ajenos.
No olvidaréis el pacto que hice con vosotros, ni temeréis a dioses ajenos;
mas temed a Jehová vuestro Dios, y él os librará de mano de todos vuestros enemigos.
Pero ellos no escucharon; antes hicieron según su costumbre antigua.
Así temieron a Jehová aquellas gentes, y al mismo tiempo sirvieron a sus ídolos; y también sus hijos y sus nietos, según como hicieron sus padres, así hacen hasta hoy.

Hoshea Reigns in Israel

In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah, Hoshea the son of Elah began to reign in Samaria over Israel, and he reigned nine years.
And he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, yet not as the kings of Israel who were before him.
Against him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria. And Hoshea became his vassal and paid him tribute.
But the king of Assyria found treachery in Hoshea, for he had sent messengers to So, king of Egypt, and offered no tribute to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year. Therefore the king of Assyria shut him up and bound him in prison.
Then the king of Assyria invaded all the land and came to Samaria, and for three years he besieged it.

The Fall of Israel
In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria captured Samaria, and he carried the Israelites away to Assyria and placed them in Halah, and on the Habor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.

Exile Because of Idolatry
