제 5 장
솔로몬이 성전 건축을 준비하다(대하 2:1-18)
1 솔로몬이 기름 부음을 받고 그의 아버지를 이어 왕이 되었다 함을 두로 왕 히람이 듣고 그의 신하들을 솔로몬에게 보냈으니 이는 히람이 평생에 다윗을 사랑하였음이라
2 이에 솔로몬이 히람에게 사람을 보내어 이르되
3 당신도 알거니와 내 아버지 다윗이 사방의 전쟁으로 말미암아 그의 하나님 여호와의 이름을 위하여 성전을 건축하지 못하고 여호와께서 그의 원수들을 그의 발바닥 밑에 두시기를 기다렸나이다
4 이제 내 하나님 여호와께서 내게 사방의 태평을 주시매 원수도 없고 재앙도 없도다
5 여호와께서 내 아버지 다윗에게 하신 말씀에 내가 너를 이어 네 자리에 오르게 할 네 아들 그가 내 이름을 위하여 성전을 건축하리라 하신 대로 내가 내 하나님 여호와의 이름을 위하여 성전을 건축하려 하오니
6 당신은 명령을 내려 나를 위하여 레바논에서 백향목을 베어내게 하소서 내 종과 당신의 종이 함께 할 것이요 또 내가 당신의 모든 말씀대로 당신의 종의 삯을 당신에게 드리리이다 당신도 알거니와 우리 중에는 시돈 사람처럼 벌목을 잘하는 자가 없나이다
7 히람이 솔로몬의 말을 듣고 크게 기뻐하여 이르되 오늘 여호와를 찬양할지로다 그가 다윗에게 지혜로운 아들을 주사 그 많은 백성을 다스리게 하셨도다 하고
8 이에 솔로몬에게 사람을 보내어 이르되 당신이 사람을 보내어 하신 말씀을 내가 들었거니와 내 백향목 재목과 잣나무 재목에 대하여는 당신이 바라시는 대로 할지라
9 내 종이 레바논에서 바다로 운반하겠고 내가 그것을 바다에서 뗏목으로 엮어 당신이 지정하는 곳으로 보내고 거기서 그것을 풀리니 당신은 받으시고 내 원을 이루어 나의 궁정을 위하여 음식물을 주소서 하고
10 솔로몬의 모든 원대로 백향목 재목과 잣나무 재목을 주매
11 솔로몬이 히람에게 그의 궁정의 음식물로 밀 이만 고르와 맑은 기름 이십 고르를 주고 해마다 그와 같이 주었더라
12 여호와께서 그의 말씀대로 솔로몬에게 지혜를 주신 고로 히람과 솔로몬이 친목하여 두 사람이 함께 약조를 맺었더라
13 이에 솔로몬 왕이 온 이스라엘 가운데서 역군을 불러일으키니 그 역군의 수가 삼만 명이라
14 솔로몬이 그들을 한 달에 만 명씩 번갈아 레바논으로 보내매 그들이 한 달은 레바논에 있고 두 달은 집에 있으며 아도니람은 감독이 되었고
15 솔로몬에게 또 짐꾼이 칠만 명이요 산에서 돌을 뜨는 자가 팔만 명이며
16 이 외에 그 사역을 감독하는 관리가 삼천삼백 명이라 그들이 일하는 백성을 거느렸더라
17 이에 왕이 명령을 내려 크고 귀한 돌을 떠다가 다듬어서 성전의 기초석으로 놓게 하매
18 솔로몬의 건축자와 히람의 건축자와 그발 사람이 그 돌을 다듬고 성전을 건축하기 위하여 재목과 돌들을 갖추니라

Pacto de Salomón con Hiram
(2 Cr. 2.1-18)
Hiram rey de Tiro envió también sus siervos a Salomón, luego que oyó que lo habían ungido por rey en lugar de su padre; porque Hiram siempre había amado a David.
Entonces Salomón envió a decir a Hiram:
Tú sabes que mi padre David no pudo edificar casa al nombre de Jehová su Dios, por las guerras que le rodearon, hasta que Jehová puso sus enemigos bajo las plantas de sus pies.
Ahora Jehová mi Dios me ha dado paz por todas partes; pues ni hay adversarios, ni mal que temer.
Yo, por tanto, he determinado ahora edificar casa al nombre de Jehová mi Dios, según lo que Jehová habló a David mi padre, diciendo: Tu hijo, a quien yo pondré en lugar tuyo en tu trono, él edificará casa a mi nombre.
Manda, pues, ahora, que me corten cedros del Líbano; y mis siervos estarán con los tuyos, y yo te daré por tus siervos el salario que tú dijeres; porque tú sabes bien que ninguno hay entre nosotros que sepa labrar madera como los sidonios.
Cuando Hiram oyó las palabras de Salomón, se alegró en gran manera, y dijo: Bendito sea hoy Jehová, que dio hijo sabio a David sobre este pueblo tan grande.
Y envió Hiram a decir a Salomón: He oído lo que me mandaste a decir; yo haré todo lo que te plazca acerca de la madera de cedro y la madera de ciprés.
Mis siervos la llevarán desde el Líbano al mar, y la enviaré en balsas por mar hasta el lugar que tú me señales, y allí se desatará, y tú la tomarás; y tú cumplirás mi deseo al dar de comer a mi familia.
Dio, pues, Hiram a Salomón madera de cedro y madera de ciprés, toda la que quiso.
Y Salomón daba a Hiram veinte mil coros de trigo para el sustento de su familia, y veinte coros de aceite puro; esto daba Salomón a Hiram cada año.
Jehová, pues, dio a Salomón sabiduría como le había dicho; y hubo paz entre Hiram y Salomón, e hicieron pacto entre ambos.
Y el rey Salomón decretó leva en todo Israel, y la leva fue de treinta mil hombres,
los cuales enviaba al Líbano de diez mil en diez mil, cada mes por turno, viniendo así a estar un mes en el Líbano, y dos meses en sus casas; y Adoniram estaba encargado de aquella leva.
Tenía también Salomón setenta mil que llevaban las cargas, y ochenta mil cortadores en el monte;
sin los principales oficiales de Salomón que estaban sobre la obra, tres mil trescientos, los cuales tenían a cargo el pueblo que hacía la obra.
Y mandó el rey que trajesen piedras grandes, piedras costosas, para los cimientos de la casa, y piedras labradas.
Y los albañiles de Salomón y los de Hiram, y los hombres de Gebal, cortaron y prepararon la madera y la cantería para labrar la casa.

Preparations for Building the Temple
Now Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants to Solomon when he heard that they had anointed him king in place of his father, for Hiram always loved David.
And Solomon sent word to Hiram,
“You know that David my father could not build a house for the name of the Lord his God because of the warfare with which his enemies surrounded him, until the Lord put them under the soles of his feet.
But now the Lord my God has given me rest on every side. There is neither adversary nor misfortune.
And so I intend to build a house for the name of the Lord my God, as the Lord said to David my father, ‘Your son, whom I will set on your throne in your place, shall build the house for my name.’
Now therefore command that cedars of Lebanon be cut for me. And my servants will join your servants, and I will pay you for your servants such wages as you set, for you know that there is no one among us who knows how to cut timber like the Sidonians.”
As soon as Hiram heard the words of Solomon, he rejoiced greatly and said, “Blessed be the Lord this day, who has given to David a wise son to be over this great people.”
And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, “I have heard the message that you have sent to me. I am ready to do all you desire in the matter of cedar and cypress timber.
My servants shall bring it down to the sea from Lebanon, and I will make it into rafts to go by sea to the place you direct. And I will have them broken up there, and you shall receive it. And you shall meet my wishes by providing food for my household.”
So Hiram supplied Solomon with all the timber of cedar and cypress that he desired,
while Solomon gave Hiram 20,000 cors of wheat as food for his household, and 20,000 cors of beaten oil. Solomon gave this to Hiram year by year.
And the Lord gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him. And there was peace between Hiram and Solomon, and the two of them made a treaty.
King Solomon drafted forced labor out of all Israel, and the draft numbered 30,000 men.
And he sent them to Lebanon, 10,000 a month in shifts. They would be a month in Lebanon and two months at home. Adoniram was in charge of the draft.
Solomon also had 70,000 burden-bearers and 80,000 stonecutters in the hill country,
besides Solomon’s 3,300 chief officers who were over the work, who had charge of the people who carried on the work.
At the king’s command they quarried out great, costly stones in order to lay the foundation of the house with dressed stones.
So Solomon’s builders and Hiram’s builders and the men of Gebal did the cutting and prepared the timber and the stone to build the house.
