제 1 장
인사
1 바울과 실루아노와 디모데는 하나님 아버지와 주 예수 그리스도 안에 있는 데살로니가인의 교회에 편지하노니 은혜와 평강이 너희에게 있을지어다
데살로니가 교인들의 믿음의 본
2 우리가 너희 모두로 말미암아 항상 하나님께 감사하며 기도할 때에 너희를 기억함은
3 너희의 믿음의 역사와 사랑의 수고와 우리 주 예수 그리스도에 대한 소망의 인내를 우리 하나님 아버지 앞에서 끊임없이 기억함이니
4 하나님의 사랑하심을 받은 형제들아 너희를 택하심을 아노라
5 이는 우리 복음이 너희에게 말로만 이른 것이 아니라 또한 능력과 성령과 큰 확신으로 된 것임이라 우리가 너희 가운데서 너희를 위하여 어떤 사람이 된 것은 너희가 아는 바와 같으니라
6 또 너희는 많은 환난 가운데서 성령의 기쁨으로 말씀을 받아 우리와 주를 본받은 자가 되었으니
7 그러므로 너희가 마게도냐와 아가야에 있는 모든 믿는 자의 본이 되었느니라
8 주의 말씀이 너희에게로부터 마게도냐와 아가야에만 들릴 뿐 아니라 하나님을 향하는 너희 믿음의 소문이 각처에 퍼졌으므로 우리는 아무 말도 할 것이 없노라
9 그들이 우리에 대하여 스스로 말하기를 우리가 어떻게 너희 가운데에 들어갔는지와 너희가 어떻게 우상을 버리고 하나님께로 돌아와서 살아 계시고 참되신 하나님을 섬기는지와
10 또 죽은 자들 가운데서 다시 살리신 그의 아들이 하늘로부터 강림하실 것을 너희가 어떻게 기다리는지를 말하니 이는 장래의 노하심에서 우리를 건지시는 예수시니라
Capítulo 1
El Evangelio llega tanto en palabra como en poder.
1 Pablo, Silvano y Timoteo, a la iglesia de los tesalonicenses en Dios el Padre y en el Señor Jesucristo: Gracia y paz a vosotros, de Dios nuestro Padre y del Señor Jesucristo.
2 Damos siempre gracias a Dios por todos vosotros, haciendo memoria de vosotros en nuestras oraciones,
3 acordándonos sin cesar delante del Dios y Padre nuestro de la obra de vuestra fe, del trabajo de amor y de vuestra perseverancia en la esperanza de nuestro Señor Jesucristo;
4 sabiendo, hermanos amados de Dios, vuestra elección;
5 por cuanto nuestro evangelio no fue a vosotros en palabra solamente, sino también en poder, y en el Espíritu Santo y en gran certidumbre; bien sabéis cómo fuimos entre vosotros por amor a vosotros.
6 Y vosotros os hicisteis imitadores de nosotros y del Señor, recibiendo la palabra en medio de mucha tribulación, con gozo del Espíritu Santo,
7 de tal manera que habéis sido ejemplo a todos los que han creído en Macedonia y en Acaya.
8 Porque desde vosotros ha resonado la palabra del Señor, no solo en Macedonia y en Acaya, sino que también en todo lugar vuestra fe en Dios se ha extendido, de modo que no tenemos necesidad de hablar nada.
9 Porque ellos cuentan de nosotros la manera como nos recibisteis, y cómo os convertisteis de los ídolos a Dios, para servir al Dios vivo y verdadero,
10 y esperar a su Hijo de los cielos, al que resucitó de los muertos, a Jesús, quien nos libró de la ira que ha de venir.
Chapter 1
The gospel comes both in word and in power.
1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
2 We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;
3 Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;
4 Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God.
5 For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.
6 And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:
7 So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.
8 For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.
9 For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;
10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.
