제 4 장
하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 생활
1 그러므로 형제들아 우리가 끝으로 주 예수 안에서 너희에게 구하고 권면하노니 너희가 마땅히 어떻게 행하며 하나님을 기쁘시게 할 수 있는지를 우리에게 배웠으니 곧 너희가 행하는 바라 더욱 많이 힘쓰라
2 우리가 주 예수로 말미암아 너희에게 무슨 명령으로 준 것을 너희가 아느니라
3 하나님의 뜻은 이것이니 너희의 거룩함이라 곧 음란을 버리고
4 각각 거룩함과 존귀함으로 자기의 아내 대할 줄을 알고
5 하나님을 모르는 이방인과 같이 색욕을 따르지 말고
6 이 일에 분수를 넘어서 형제를 해하지 말라 이는 우리가 너희에게 미리 말하고 증언한 것과 같이 이 모든 일에 주께서 신원하여 주심이라
7 하나님이 우리를 부르심은 부정하게 하심이 아니요 거룩하게 하심이니
8 그러므로 저버리는 자는 사람을 저버림이 아니요 너희에게 그의 성령을 주신 하나님을 저버림이니라
9 형제 사랑에 관하여는 너희에게 쓸 것이 없음은 너희들 자신이 하나님의 가르치심을 받아 서로 사랑함이라
10 너희가 온 마게도냐 모든 형제에 대하여 과연 이것을 행하도다 형제들아 권하노니 더욱 그렇게 행하고
11 또 너희에게 명한 것 같이 조용히 자기 일을 하고 너희 손으로 일하기를 힘쓰라
12 이는 외인에 대하여 단정히 행하고 또한 아무 궁핍함이 없게 하려 함이라
주의 강림과 죽은 자들의 부활
13 형제들아 자는 자들에 관하여는 너희가 알지 못함을 우리가 원하지 아니하노니 이는 소망 없는 다른 이와 같이 슬퍼하지 않게 하려 함이라
14 우리가 예수께서 죽으셨다가 다시 살아나심을 믿을진대 이와 같이 예수 안에서 자는 자들도 하나님이 그와 함께 데리고 오시리라
15 우리가 주의 말씀으로 너희에게 이것을 말하노니 주께서 강림하실 때까지 우리 살아 남아 있는 자도 자는 자보다 결코 앞서지 못하리라
16 주께서 호령과 천사장의 소리와 하나님의 나팔 소리로 친히 하늘로부터 강림하시리니 그리스도 안에서 죽은 자들이 먼저 일어나고
17 그 후에 우리 살아 남은 자들도 그들과 함께 구름 속으로 끌어 올려 공중에서 주를 영접하게 하시리니 그리하여 우리가 항상 주와 함께 있으리라
18 그러므로 이러한 말로 서로 위로하라
Capítulo 4
Se exhorta a los miembros a ser santos, a santificarse y a amarse unos a otros — El Señor vendrá y los muertos resucitarán.
1 Por lo demás, hermanos, os rogamos y exhortamos en el Señor Jesús, que de la manera que fuisteis enseñados por nosotros de cómo os conviene andar y agradar a Dios, abundéis más y más.
2 Porque ya sabéis qué mandamientos os dimos de parte del Señor Jesús.
3 Porque la voluntad de Dios es vuestra santificación; que os apartéis de la fornicación;
4 que cada uno de vosotros sepa tener su vaso en santificación y honor;
5 no con pasión de concupiscencia, como los gentiles que no conocen a Dios;
6 que ninguno oprima ni engañe en nada a su hermano, porque el Señor es vengador de todo esto, como ya os hemos dicho y testificado.
7 Porque no nos ha llamado Dios a impureza, sino a santificación.
8 Así que, el que menosprecia esto, no menosprecia a hombre, sino a Dios, que también nos dio su Espíritu Santo.
9 Pero acerca del amor fraternal no es necesario que os escriba, porque vosotros mismos habéis aprendido de Dios que os améis los unos a los otros;
10 y también lo hacéis así con todos los hermanos que están por toda Macedonia. Pero os rogamos, hermanos, que abundéis en ello más y más;
11 y que procuréis tener tranquilidad, y ocuparos de vuestros asuntos, y trabajar con vuestras manos de la manera que os hemos mandado;
12 a fin de que andéis honradamente para con los extraños, y no tengáis necesidad de nada.
13 Tampoco queremos, hermanos, que ignoréis acerca de los que duermen, para que no os entristezcáis como los otros que no tienen esperanza.
14 Porque si creemos que Jesús murió y resucitó, así también traerá Dios con Jesús a los que durmieron en él.
15 Por lo cual, os decimos esto en palabra del Señor: que nosotros que vivimos, que habremos quedado hasta la venida del Señor, no precederemos a los que durmieron.
16 Porque el Señor mismo con voz de mando, con voz de arcángel, y con trompeta de Dios, descenderá del cielo; y los muertos en Cristo resucitarán primero.
17 Luego nosotros, los que vivamos, los que hayamos quedado, seremos arrebatados juntamente con ellos en las nubes para recibir al Señor en el aire, y así estaremos siempre con el Señor.
18 Por tanto, consolaos los unos a los otros con estas palabras.
Chapter 4
The Saints are told to be holy, sanctify themselves, and love one another—The Lord will come, and the dead will rise.
1 Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
2 For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
5 Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:
6 That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.
7 For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
8 He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.
9 But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.
10 And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;
11 And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
12 That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
