제 2 장
동방으로부터 박사들이 경배하러 오다
1 헤롯 왕 때에 예수께서 유대 베들레헴에서 나시매 동방으로부터 1)박사들이 예루살렘에 이르러 말하되
2 유대인의 왕으로 나신 이가 어디 계시냐 우리가 동방에서 그의 별을 보고 그에게 경배하러 왔노라 하니
3 헤롯 왕과 온 예루살렘이 듣고 소동한지라
4 왕이 모든 대제사장과 백성의 서기관들을 모아 그리스도가 어디서 나겠느냐 물으니
5 이르되 유대 베들레헴이오니 이는 선지자로 이렇게 기록된 바
6 ㄱ)또 유대 땅 베들레헴아 너는 유대2)고을 중에서 가장 작지 아니하도다 네게서 한 다스리는 자가 나와서 내 백성 이스라엘의 목자가 되리라 하였음이니이다
7 이에 헤롯이 가만히 박사들을 불러 별이 나타난 때를 자세히 묻고
8 베들레헴으로 보내며 이르되 가서 아기에 대하여 자세히 알아보고 찾거든 내게 고하여 나도 가서 그에게 경배하게 하라
9 박사들이 왕의 말을 듣고 갈새 동방에서 보던 그 별이 문득 앞서 인도하여 가다가 아기 있는 곳 위에 머물러 서 있는지라
10 그들이 별을 보고 매우 크게 기뻐하고 기뻐하더라
11 집에 들어가 아기와 그의 어머니 마리아가 함께 있는 것을 보고 엎드려 아기께 경배하고 보배합을 열어 황금과 유향과 몰약을 예물로 드리니라
12 그들은 꿈에 헤롯에게로 돌아가지 말라 지시하심을 받아 다른 길로 고국에 돌아가니라
애굽으로 피하다
13 그들이 떠난 후에 주의 사자가 요셉에게 현몽하여 이르되 헤롯이 아기를 찾아 죽이려 하니 일어나 아기와 그의 어머니를 데리고 애굽으로 피하여 내가 네게 이르기까지 거기 있으라 하시니
14 요셉이 일어나서 밤에 아기와 그의 어머니를 데리고 애굽으로 떠나가
15 헤롯이 죽기까지 거기 있었으니 이는 주께서 선지자를 통하여 말씀하신 바 ㄴ)애굽으로부터 내 아들을 불렀다 함을 이루려 하심이라
16 이에 헤롯이 박사들에게 속은 줄 알고 심히 노하여 사람을 보내어 베들레헴과 그 모든 지경 안에 있는 사내아이를 박사들에게 자세히 알아본 그 때를 기준하여 두 살부터 그 아래로 다 죽이니
17 이에 선지자 예레미야를 통하여 말씀하신 바
18 ㄷ)라마에서 슬퍼하며 크게 통곡하는 소리가 들리니 라헬이 그 자식을 위하여 애곡하는 것이라 그가 자식이 없으므로 위로 받기를 거절하였도다 함이 이루어졌느니라
애굽에서 이스라엘 땅으로
19 헤롯이 죽은 후에 주의 사자가 애굽에서 요셉에게 현몽하여 이르되
20 일어나 아기와 그의 어머니를 데리고 이스라엘 땅으로 가라 아기의 목숨을 찾던 자들이 죽었느니라 하시니
21 요셉이 일어나 아기와 그의 어머니를 데리고 이스라엘 땅으로 들어가니라
22 그러나 아켈라오가 그의 아버지 헤롯을 이어 유대의 임금 됨을 듣고 거기로 가기를 무서워하더니 꿈에 지시하심을 받아 갈릴리 지방으로 떠나가
23 나사렛이란 동네에 가서 사니 이는 선지자로 하신 말씀에 ㄹ)나사렛 사람이라 칭하리라 하심을 이루려 함이러라
CAPÍTULO 2
Los magos son guiados hacia Jesús por una estrella — José lleva al niño a Egipto — Herodes manda matar a los niños de Belén — Jesús es llevado a Nazaret.
1 Y cuando Jesús nació en aBelén de Judea en los días del rey Herodes, he aquí, unos magos vinieron del oriente a bJerusalén,
2 diciendo: ¿aDónde está el bRey de los judíos que ha nacido? Porque su cestrella hemos visto en el oriente y venimos a dadorarle.
3 Y al oír esto, el rey Herodes se turbó, y toda Jerusalén con él.
4 aY, habiendo convocado a todos los principales sacerdotes y a los bescribas del pueblo, cles preguntó dónde había de nacer el Cristo.
5 Y ellos le dijeron: En Belén de Judea, porque así está escrito por el profeta:
6Y tú, aBelén, de tierra de Judá,no eres la más pequeña entre los príncipes de Judá;porque de ti saldrá un bguiador,que capacentará a mi pueblo Israel.
7 Entonces Herodes, llamando en secreto a los magos, indagó de ellos diligentemente el tiempo en que había aparecido la estrella;
8 y enviándolos a Belén, dijo: Id allá, y preguntad con diligencia acerca del niño y, cuando le halléis, hacédmelo saber, para que yo también vaya y le adore.
9 Y ellos, habiendo oído al rey, se fueron; y he aquí la estrella que habían visto en el oriente iba delante de ellos, hasta que, llegando, se detuvo sobre donde estaba el niño.
10 Y cuando vieron la estrella, se regocijaron con gran gozo.
11 Y cuando entraron en la casa, vieron al niño con su madre María, y postrándose, le adoraron; y abriendo sus tesoros, le ofrecieron presentes: oro, e incienso y mirra.
12 Pero avisados por revelación, en asueños, que no volviesen a Herodes, regresaron a su tierra por otro camino.
13 Y cuando hubieron partido, he aquí un ángel del Señor se le apareció en sueños a José, diciendo: Levántate, y toma al niño y a su madre, y huye a Egipto, y quédate allá hasta que yo te lo diga, porque acontecerá que Herodes buscará al niño para matarlo.
14 Y él, despertando, tomó de noche al niño y a su madre, y se fue a Egipto;
15 y estuvo allá hasta la muerte de Herodes, para que se cumpliese lo que el Señor declaró por medio del profeta, cuando dijo: De aEgipto llamé a mi Hijo.
16 Herodes entonces, cuando se vio aburlado por los magos, se enojó mucho, y mandó matar a todos los niños menores de dos años que había en Belén y en todos sus alrededores, conforme al tiempo que había averiguado de los magos.
17 Entonces se cumplió lo dicho por medio del profeta Jeremías, cuando dijo:
18Voz fue oída en aRamá,grande lamentación, lloro y gemido;Raquel que llora por sus hijos,y no quiso ser consolada, porque perecieron.
19 Pero cuando hubo muerto Herodes, he aquí, un ángel del Señor se le apareció en asueños a José en Egipto,
20 diciendo: Levántate, y toma al niño y a su madre, y vete a la tierra de Israel, que ya han muerto los que procuraban la muerte del niño.
21 Entonces él se levantó, y tomó al niño y a su madre, y se fue a la tierra de Israel.
22 Pero cuando oyó que Arquelao reinaba en Judea en lugar de Herodes, su padre, temió ir allá; y advertido por revelación, en sueños, se fue a la región de Galilea.
23 Y vino y habitó en la ciudad que se llama aNazaret, para que se cumpliese lo que fue bdicho por medio de los profetas, que había de ser llamado cnazareno.
CHAPTER 2
The wise men are directed by a star to Jesus—Joseph takes the child to Egypt—Herod slays the children in Bethlehem—Jesus is taken to Nazareth to dwell.
1 Now when Jesus was aborn in Bethlehem of Judæa in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
2 Saying, aWhere is he that is born bKing of the Jews? for we have seen his cstar in the east, and are come to dworship him.
3 When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
4 aAnd when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he bdemanded of them where Christ should be born.
5 And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judæa: for thus it is written by the prophet,
6 And thou aBethlehem, in the land of bJuda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a cGovernor, that shall drule my people Israel.
7 Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, inquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.
8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.
9 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.
10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
11 ¶ And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and afrankincense, and myrrh.
12 And being warned of God in a adream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.
13 And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.
14 When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:
15 And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of aEgypt have I called my son.
16 ¶ Then Herod, when he saw that he was amocked of the wise men, bwas exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and cslew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the dcoasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men.
17 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by aJeremy the prophet, saying,
18 In aRama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great bmourning, Rachel weeping for her cchildren, and would not be comforted, because they are not.
19 ¶ But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a adream to Joseph in Egypt,
20 Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the aland of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child’s life.
21 And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.
22 But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judæa in the aroom of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a bdream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee:
23 And he came and dwelt in a city called aNazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was bspoken by the prophets, He shall be called a cNazarene.
