세례 요한의 전파(마 3:1-12; 막 1:1-8; 요 1:19-28)
1 디베료 황제가 통치한 지 열다섯 해 곧 본디오 빌라도가 유대의 총독으로, 헤롯이 갈릴리의 분봉 왕으로, 그 동생 빌립이 이두래와 드라고닛 지방의 분봉 왕으로, 루사니아가 아빌레네의 분봉 왕으로,
2 안나스와 가야바가 대제사장으로 있을 때에 하나님의 말씀이 빈 들에서 사가랴의 아들 요한에게 임한지라
3 요한이 요단 강 부근 각처에 와서 죄 사함을 받게 하는 회개의 세례를 전파하니
4 선지자 이사야의 책에 쓴 바 ㄱ)광야에서 외치는 자의 소리가 있어 이르되 너희는 주의 길을 준비하라 그의 오실 길을 곧게 하라
5 모든 골짜기가 메워지고 모든 산과 작은 산이 낮아지고 굽은 것이 곧아지고 험한 길이 평탄하여질 것이요
6 모든 육체가 하나님의 구원하심을 보리라 함과 같으니라
7 요한이 세례 받으러 나아오는 무리에게 이르되 독사의 자식들아 누가 너희에게 일러 장차 올 진노를 피하라 하더냐
8 그러므로 회개에 합당한 열매를 맺고 속으로 아브라함이 우리 조상이라 말하지 말라 내가 너희에게 이르노니 하나님이 능히 이 돌들로도 아브라함의 자손이 되게 하시리라
9 이미 도끼가 나무 뿌리에 놓였으니 좋은 열매 맺지 아니하는 나무마다 찍혀 불에 던져지리라
10 무리가 물어 이르되 그러면 우리가 무엇을 하리이까
11 대답하여 이르되 옷 두 벌 있는 자는 옷 없는 자에게 나눠 줄 것이요 먹을 것이 있는 자도 그렇게 할 것이니라 하고
12 세리들도 세례를 받고자 하여 와서 이르되 선생이여 우리는 무엇을 하리이까 하매
13 이르되 부과된 것 외에는 거두지 말라 하고
14 군인들도 물어 이르되 우리는 무엇을 하리이까 하매 이르되 사람에게서 강탈하지 말며 거짓으로 고발하지 말고 받는 급료를 족한 줄로 알라 하니라
15 백성들이 바라고 기다리므로 모든 사람들이 요한을 혹 그리스도신가 심중에 생각하니
16 요한이 모든 사람에게 대답하여 이르되 나는 물로 너희에게 세례를 베풀거니와 나보다 능력이 많으신 이가 오시나니 나는 그의 신발끈을 풀기도 감당하지 못하겠노라 그는 성령과 불로 너희에게 1)침례를 베푸실 것이요
17 손에 키를 들고 자기의 타작 마당을 정하게 하사 알곡은 모아 곳간에 들이고 쭉정이는 꺼지지 않는 불에 태우시리라
18 또 그 밖에 여러 가지로 권하여 백성에게 좋은 소식을 전하였으나
19 분봉 왕 헤롯은 그의 동생의 아내 헤로디아의 일과 또 자기가 행한 모든 악한 일로 말미암아 요한에게 책망을 받고
20 그 위에 한 가지 악을 더하여 요한을 옥에 가두니라
세례를 받으시다(마 3:13-17; 막 1:9-11)
21 백성이 다 세례를 받을새 예수도 세례를 받으시고 기도하실 때에 하늘이 열리며
22 성령이 비둘기 같은 형체로 그의 위에 강림하시더니 하늘로부터 소리가 나기를 너는 내 사랑하는 아들이라 내가 너를 기뻐하노라 하시니라

23 예수께서 가르치심을 시작하실 때에 삼십 세쯤 되시니라 사람들이 아는 대로는 요셉의 아들이니 요셉의 위는 헬리요

CAPÍTULO 3
Juan el Bautista predica y bautiza — Jesús es bautizado y Dios declara que es Su Hijo — Se da la genealogía de Jesús, desde Él hasta Adán.
1 Y en el año decimoquinto del imperio de Tiberio César, siendo gobernador de Judea aPoncio Pilato, y bHerodes tetrarca de Galilea, y su hermano Felipe tetrarca de Iturea y de la provincia de Traconite, y Lisanias tetrarca de Abilinia,
2 siendo asumos sacerdotes bAnás y cCaifás, vino la palabra de Dios a dJuan hijo de Zacarías, en el desierto.
3 Y él fue por toda la región circunvecina del Jordán predicando el abautismo del arrepentimiento para la bremisión de pecados;
4acomo está escrito en el libro de las palabras del profeta bIsaías, que dice:cVoz del que clama en el desierto:Preparad el camino del Señor,enderezad sus sendas.
5Todo avalle se rellenará,y se bajará todo monte y collado;y los caminos torcidos serán enderezados,y los caminos ásperos allanados;
6y verá toda carne la asalvación de Dios.
7 Y decía a las multitudes que salían para ser bautizadas por él: ¡Oh ageneración de víboras! ¿Quién os enseñó a huir de la ira que vendrá?
8 Haced, pues, afrutos dignos de arrepentimiento y no comencéis a decir dentro de vosotros mismos: bTenemos a cAbraham por padre; porque os digo que Dios puede, aun de estas piedras, levantar hijos a Abraham.
9 Y ya también el ahacha está puesta a la raíz de los árboles; por tanto, todo árbol que no da buen bfruto es cortado y echado al fuego.
10 Y la gente le preguntaba, diciendo: Pues, ¿qué haremos?
11 Y respondiendo, les decía: El que tiene dos túnicas, dé al que no tiene; y el que tiene qué comer, haga lo mismo.
12 Y vinieron también unos apublicanos para ser bautizados y le dijeron: Maestro, ¿qué haremos?
13 aY él les dijo: No exijáis más de lo que os está ordenado.
14 Y le preguntaron también unos soldados, diciendo: Y nosotros, ¿qué haremos? Y les dijo: No hagáis extorsión a nadie ni calumniéis, y contentaos con vuestro salario.
15 Y estando el pueblo a la expectativa, se preguntaban todos en sus corazones si acaso aJuan sería el Cristo.
16 Respondió Juan, diciendo a todos: Yo, a la verdad, os bautizo en agua; mas viene uno más poderoso que yo, de quien no soy digno de desatar la correa de su calzado; él os abautizará con el Espíritu Santo y con fuego.
17 Su aaventador está en su mano, y limpiará su era, y recogerá el trigo en su balfolí y quemará la cpaja en un fuego que nunca se apagará.
18 Y con otras muchas exhortaciones anunciaba las buenas nuevas al pueblo.
19 Entonces Herodes, el tetrarca, siendo reprendido por él a causa de Herodías, esposa de su hermano Felipe, y por todas las maldades que Herodes había hecho,
20 añadió también, sobre todas ellas, esto: encerró a Juan en la cárcel.
21 Y aconteció que, cuando todo el pueblo se bautizaba, también Jesús fue abautizado; y mientras oraba, el cielo se abrió,
22 y descendió el aEspíritu Santo sobre él en forma corporal, como bpaloma, y vino una cvoz del cielo que decía: Tú eres mi Hijo Amado, en ti me complazco.
23 Y Jesús mismo tenía unos atreinta años, hijo, según se creía, de bJosé hijo de Elí,
24 hijo de Matat, hijo de Leví, hijo de Melqui, hijo de Jana, hijo de José,
25 hijo de Matatías, hijo de Amós, hijo de Nahum, hijo de Esli, hijo de Nagai,
26 hijo de Maat, hijo de Matatías, hijo de Semei, hijo de José, hijo de Judá,
27 hijo de Joana, hijo de Resa, hijo de Zorobabel, hijo de Salatiel, hijo de Neri,
28 hijo de Melqui, hijo de Adi, hijo de Cosam, hijo de Elmodam, hijo de Er,

CHAPTER 3
John the Baptist preaches and baptizes—Jesus is baptized, and God acclaims Him as His Son—Jesus’ genealogy back to Adam is given.
1 Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Cæsar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judæa, and aHerod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituræa and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene,
2 aAnnas and Caiaphas being the bhigh priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.
3 And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the abaptism of repentance for the bremission of sins;
4 aAs it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The bvoice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
5 Every avalley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;
6 And all flesh shall see the asalvation of God.
7 Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O ageneration of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8 Bring forth therefore afruits bworthy of crepentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, dWe have eAbraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
9 And now also the aaxe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good bfruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
10 And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then?
11 He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two acoats, let him bimpart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise.
12 Then came also apublicans to be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what shall we do?
13 aAnd he said unto them, Exact no more than that which is appointed you.
14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any afalsely; and be bcontent with your cwages.
15 And as the people were in expectation, and all men amused in their hearts of bJohn, whether he were the Christ, or not;
16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall abaptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:
17 Whose afan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his bgarner; but the cchaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.
18 And many other things in his exhortation preached he unto the people.
19 But aHerod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother Philip’s wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done,
20 Added yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison.
21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being abaptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,
22 And the aHoly Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a bdove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
23 And aJesus himself began to be about bthirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of cJoseph, which was the son of Heli,
24 Which was the son of Matthat, which was the son of Levi, which was the son of Melchi, which was the son of Janna, which was the son of Joseph,
25 Which was the son of Mattathias, which was the son of Amos, which was the son of Naum, which was the son of Esli, which was the son of Nagge,
26 Which was the son of Maath, which was the son of Mattathias, which was the son of Semei, which was the son of Joseph, which was the son of Juda,
27 Which was the son of Joanna, which was the son of Rhesa, which was the son of Zorobabel, which was the son of Salathiel, which was the son of Neri,
28 Which was the son of Melchi, which was the son of Addi, which was the son of Cosam, which was the son of Elmodam, which was the son of Er,
29 Which was the son of Jose, which was the son of Eliezer, which was the son of Jorim, which was the son of Matthat, which was the son of Levi,
