제 2 장

다윗이 유다의 왕이 되다

1 그 후에 다윗이 여호와께 여쭈어 아뢰되 내가 유다 한 성읍으로 올라가리이까 여호와께서 이르시되 올라가라 다윗이 아뢰되 어디로 가리이까 이르시되 헤브론으로 갈지니라

2 다윗이 그의 두 아내 이스르엘 여인 아히노암과 갈멜 사람 나발의 아내였던 아비가일을 데리고 그리로 올라갈 때에

3 또 자기와 함께 한 추종자들과 그들의 가족들을 다윗이 다 데리고 올라가서 헤브론 각 성읍에 살게 하니라

4 유다 사람들이 와서 거기서 다윗에게 기름을 부어 유다 족속의 왕으로 삼았더라

어떤 사람이 다윗에게 말하여 이르되 사울을 장사한 사람은 길르앗 야베스 사람들이니이다 하매

5 다윗이 길르앗 야베스 사람들에게 전령들을 보내 그들에게 이르되 너희가 너희 주 사울에게 이처럼 은혜를 베풀어 그를 장사하였으니 여호와께 복을 받을지어다

6 너희가 이 일을 하였으니 이제 여호와께서 은혜와 진리로 너희에게 베푸시기를 원하고 나도 이 선한 일을 너희에게 갚으리니

7 이제 너희는 손을 강하게 하고 담대히 할지어다 너희 주 사울이 죽었고 또 유다 족속이 내게 기름을 부어 그들의 왕으로 삼았음이니라 하니라

이스보셋이 이스라엘의 왕이 되다

8 사울의 군사령관 넬의 아들 아브넬이 이미 사울의 아들 이스보셋을 데리고 마하나임으로 건너가

9 길르앗과 아술과 이스르엘과 에브라임과 베냐민과 온 이스라엘의 왕으로 삼았더라

10 사울의 아들 이스보셋이 이스라엘 왕이 될 때에 나이가 사십 세이며 두 해 동안 왕위에 있으니라 유다 족속은 다윗을 따르니

11 다윗이 헤브론에서 유다 족속의 왕이 된 날 수는 칠 년 육 개월이더라

이스라엘과 유다의 전쟁

12 넬의 아들 아브넬과 사울의 아들 이스보셋의 신복들은 마하나임에서 나와 기브온에 이르고

13 스루야의 아들 요압과 다윗의 신복들도 나와 기브온 못 가에서 그들을 만나 함께 앉으니 이는 못 이쪽이요 그는 못 저쪽이라

14 아브넬이 요압에게 이르되 원하건대 청년들에게 일어나서 우리 앞에서 겨루게 하자 요압이 이르되 일어나게 하자 하매

15 그들이 일어나 그 수대로 나아가니 베냐민과 사울의 아들 이스보셋의 편에 열두 명이요 다윗의 신복 중에 열두 명이라

16 각기 상대방의 머리를 잡고 칼로 상대방의 옆구리를 찌르매 일제히 쓰러진지라 그러므로 그 곳을 1)헬갓 핫수림이라 일컬었으며 기브온에 있더라

17 그 날에 싸움이 심히 맹렬하더니 아브넬과 이스라엘 사람들이 다윗의 신복들 앞에서 패하니라

18 그 곳에 스루야의 세 아들 요압과 아비새와 아사헬이 있었는데 아사헬의 발은 들노루 같이 빠르더라

19 아사헬이 아브넬을 쫓아 달려가되 좌우로 치우치지 않고 아브넬의 뒤를 쫓으니

20 아브넬이 뒤를 돌아보며 이르되 아사헬아 너냐 대답하되 나로라

21 아브넬이 그에게 이르되 너는 왼쪽으로나 오른쪽으로나 가서 청년 하나를 붙잡아 그의 군복을 빼앗으라 하되 아사헬이 그렇게 하기를 원하지 아니하고 그의 뒤를 쫓으매

22 아브넬이 다시 아사헬에게 이르되 너는 나 쫓기를 그치라 내가 너를 쳐서 땅에 엎드러지게 할 까닭이 무엇이냐 그렇게 하면 내가 어떻게 네 형 요압을 대면하겠느냐 하되

23 그가 물러가기를 거절하매 아브넬이 창 뒤 끝으로 그의 배를 찌르니 창이 그의 등을 꿰뚫고 나간지라 곧 그 곳에 엎드러져 죽으매 아사헬이 엎드러져 죽은 곳에 이르는 자마다 머물러 섰더라

24 요압과 아비새가 아브넬의 뒤를 쫓아 기브온 거친 땅의 길 가 기아 맞은쪽 암마 산에 이를 때에 해가 졌고

25 베냐민 족속은 함께 모여 아브넬을 따라 한 무리를 이루고 작은 산 꼭대기에 섰더라

26 아브넬이 요압에게 외쳐 이르되 칼이 영원히 사람을 상하겠느냐 마침내 참혹한 일이 생길 줄을 알지 못하느냐 네가 언제 무리에게 그의 형제 쫓기를 그치라 명령하겠느냐

27 요압이 이르되 하나님이 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하노니 네가 말하지 아니하였더면 무리가 아침에 각각 다 돌아갔을 것이요 그의 형제를 쫓지 아니하였으리라 하고

28 요압이 나팔을 불매 온 무리가 머물러 서고 다시는 이스라엘을 쫓아가지 아니하고 다시는 싸우지도 아니하니라

29 아브넬과 그의 부하들이 밤새도록 걸어서 아라바를 지나 요단을 건너 비드론 온 땅을 지나 마하나임에 이르니라

30 요압이 아브넬 쫓기를 그치고 돌아와 무리를 다 모으니 다윗의 신복 중에 열아홉 명과 아사헬이 없어졌으나

31 다윗의 신복들이 베냐민과 아브넬에게 속한 자들을 쳐서 삼백육십 명을 죽였더라

32 무리가 아사헬을 들어올려 베들레헴에 있는 그의 조상 묘에 장사하고 요압과 그의 부하들이 밤새도록 걸어서 헤브론에 이른 때에 날이 밝았더라

Después de esto aconteció que David consultó a Jehová, diciendo: ¿Subiré a alguna de las ciudades de Judá? Y Jehová le respondió: Sube. David volvió a decir: ¿A dónde subiré? Y él le dijo: A Hebrón. 2. David subió allá, y con él sus dos mujeres, Ahinoam jezreelita y Abigail, la que fue mujer de Nabal el de Carmel. 3. Llevó también David consigo a los hombres que con él habían estado, cada uno con su familia; los cuales moraron en las ciudades de Hebrón. 4Y vinieron los varones de Judá y ungieron allí a David por rey sobre la casa de Judá. 4. Y dieron aviso a David, diciendo: Los de Jabes de Galaad son los que sepultaron a Saúl. 5. Entonces envió David mensajeros a los de Jabes de Galaad, diciéndoles: Benditos seáis vosotros de Jehová, que habéis hecho esta misericordia con vuestro señor, con Saúl, dándole sepultura. 6. Ahora, pues, Jehová haga con vosotros misericordia y verdad; y yo también os haré bien por esto que habéis hecho. 7. Esfuércense, pues, ahora vuestras manos, y sed valientes; pues muerto Saúl vuestro señor, los de la casa de Judá me han ungido por rey sobre ellos. Guerra entre David y la casa de Saúl 8. Pero Abner hijo de Ner, general del ejército de Saúl, tomó a Is-boset hijo de Saúl, y lo llevó a Mahanaim, 9. y lo hizo rey sobre Galaad, sobre Gesuri, sobre Jezreel, sobre Efraín, sobre Benjamín y sobre todo Israel. 10. De cuarenta años era Is-boset hijo de Saúl cuando comenzó a reinar sobre Israel, y reinó dos años. Solamente los de la casa de Judá siguieron a David. 11. Y fue el número de los días que David reinó en Hebrón sobre la casa de Judá, siete años y seis meses. 12. Abner hijo de Ner salió de Mahanaim a Gabaón con los siervos de Is-boset hijo de Saúl, 13. y Joab hijo de Sarvia y los siervos de David salieron y los encontraron junto al estanque de Gabaón; y se pararon los unos a un lado del estanque, y los otros al otro lado. 14. Y dijo Abner a Joab: Levántense ahora los jóvenes, y maniobren delante de nosotros. Y Joab respondió: Levántense. 15. Entonces se levantaron, y pasaron en número igual, doce de Benjamín por parte de Is-boset hijo de Saúl, y doce de los siervos de David. 16. Y cada uno echó mano de la cabeza de su adversario, y metió su espada en el costado de su adversario, y cayeron a una; por lo que fue llamado aquel lugar, Helcat-hazurim, el cual está en Gabaón. 17. La batalla fue muy reñida aquel día, y Abner y los hombres de Israel fueron vencidos por los siervos de David. 18. Estaban allí los tres hijos de Sarvia: Joab, Abisai y Asael. Este Asael era ligero de pies como una gacela del campo. 19. Y siguió Asael tras de Abner, sin apartarse ni a derecha ni a izquierda. 20. Y miró atrás Abner, y dijo: ¿No eres tú Asael? Y él respondió: Sí. 21. Entonces Abner le dijo: Apártate a la derecha o a la izquierda, y echa mano de alguno de los hombres, y toma para ti sus despojos. Pero Asael no quiso apartarse de en pos de él. 22. Y Abner volvió a decir a Asael: Apártate de en pos de mí; ¿por qué he de herirte hasta derribarte? ¿Cómo levantaría yo entonces mi rostro delante de Joab tu hermano? 23. Y no queriendo él irse, lo hirió Abner con el regatón de la lanza por la quinta costilla, y le salió la lanza por la espalda, y cayó allí, y murió en aquel mismo sitio. Y todos los que venían por aquel lugar donde Asael había caído y estaba muerto, se detenían. 24. Mas Joab y Abisai siguieron a Abner; y se puso el sol cuando llegaron al collado de Amma, que está delante de Gía, junto al camino del desierto de Gabaón. 25. Y se juntaron los hijos de Benjamín en pos de Abner, formando un solo ejército; e hicieron alto en la cumbre del collado. 26. Y Abner dio voces a Joab, diciendo: ¿Consumirá la espada perpetuamente? ¿No sabes tú que el final será amargura? ¿Hasta cuándo no dirás al pueblo que se vuelva de perseguir a sus hermanos? 27. Y Joab respondió: Vive Dios, que si no hubieses hablado, el pueblo hubiera dejado de seguir a sus hermanos desde esta mañana. 28. Entonces Joab tocó el cuerno, y todo el pueblo se detuvo, y no persiguió más a los de Israel, ni peleó más. 29. Y Abner y los suyos caminaron por el Arabá toda aquella noche, y pasando el Jordán cruzaron por todo Bitrón y llegaron a Mahanaim. 30. Joab también volvió de perseguir a Abner, y juntando a todo el pueblo, faltaron de los siervos de David diecinueve hombres y Asael. 31. Mas los siervos de David hirieron de los de Benjamín y de los de Abner, a trescientos sesenta hombres, los cuales murieron. 32. Tomaron luego a Asael, y lo sepultaron en el sepulcro de su padre en Belén. Y caminaron toda aquella noche Joab y sus hombres, y les amaneció en Hebrón. 2 #Samuel 2 David Anointed King of Judah 1. After this David inquired of the Lord, “Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah?” And the Lord said to him, “Go up.” David said, “To which shall I go up?” And he said, “To Hebron.” 2. So David went up there, and his two wives also, Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail the widow of Nabal of Carmel. 3. And David brought up his men who were with him, everyone with his household, and they lived in the towns of Hebron. 4. And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. When they told David, “It was the men of Jabesh-gilead who buried Saul,” 5. David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-gilead and said to them, “May you be blessed by the Lord, because you showed this loyalty to Saul your lord and buried him. 6. Now may the Lord show steadfast love and faithfulness to you. And I will do good to you because you have done this thing. 7. Now therefore let your hands be strong, and be valiant, for Saul your lord is dead, and the house of Judah has anointed me king over them.” Ish-bosheth Made King of Israel 8. But Abner the son of Ner, commander of Saul’s army, took Ish-bosheth the son of Saul and brought him over to Mahanaim, 9. and he made him king over Gilead and the Ashurites and Jezreel and Ephraim and Benjamin and all Israel. 10. Ish-bosheth, Saul’s son, was forty years old when he began to reign over Israel, and he reigned two years. But the house of Judah followed David. 11. And the time that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months. The Battle of Gibeon 12. Abner the son of Ner, and the servants of Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, went out from Mahanaim to Gibeon. 13. And Joab the son of Zeruiah and the servants of David went out and met them at the pool of Gibeon. And they sat down, the one on the one side of the pool, and the other on the other side of the pool. 14. And Abner said to Joab, “Let the young men arise and compete before us.” And Joab said, “Let them arise.” 15. Then they arose and passed over by number, twelve for Benjamin and Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, and twelve of the servants of David. 16. And each caught his opponent by the head and thrust his sword in his opponent’s side, so they fell down together. Therefore that place was called Helkath-hazzurim, which is at Gibeon. 17. And the battle was very fierce that day. And Abner and the men of Israel were beaten before the servants of David. 18. And the three sons of Zeruiah were there, Joab, Abishai, and Asahel. Now Asahel was as swift of foot as a wild gazelle. 19. And Asahel pursued Abner, and as he went, he turned neither to the right hand nor to the left from following Abner. 20. Then Abner looked behind him and said, “Is it you, Asahel?” And he answered, “It is I.” 21. Abner said to him, “Turn aside to your right hand or to your left, and seize one of the young men and take his spoil.” But Asahel would not turn aside from following him. 22. And Abner said again to Asahel, “Turn aside from following me. Why should I strike you to the ground? How then could I lift up my face to your brother Joab?” 23. But he refused to turn aside. Therefore Abner struck him in the stomach with the butt of his spear, so that the spear came out at his back. And he fell there and died where he was. And all who came to the place where Asahel had fallen and died, stood still. 24. But Joab and Abishai pursued Abner. And as the sun was going down they came to the hill of Ammah, which lies before Giah on the way to the wilderness of Gibeon. 25. And the people of Benjamin gathered themselves together behind Abner and became one group and took their stand on the top of a hill. 26. Then Abner called to Joab, “Shall the sword devour forever? Do you not know that the end will be bitter? How long will it be before you tell your people to turn from the pursuit of their brothers?” 27. And Joab said, “As God lives, if you had not spoken, surely the men would not have given up the pursuit of their brothers until the morning.” 28. So Joab blew the trumpet, and all the men stopped and pursued Israel no more, nor did they fight anymore. 29. And Abner and his men went all that night through the Arabah. They crossed the Jordan, and marching the whole morning, they came to Mahanaim. 30. Joab returned from the pursuit of Abner. And when he had gathered all the people together, there were missing from David’s servants nineteen men besides Asahel. 31. But the servants of David had struck down of Benjamin 360 of Abner’s men. 32. And they took up Asahel and buried him in the tomb of his father, which was at Bethlehem. And Joab and his men marched all night, and the day broke upon them at Hebron.

Estaban allí los tres hijos de Sarvia: Joab, Abisai y Asael. Este Asael era ligero de pies como una gacela del campo.
Y siguió Asael tras de Abner, sin apartarse ni a derecha ni a izquierda.
Y miró atrás Abner, y dijo: ¿No eres tú Asael? Y él respondió: Sí.
Entonces Abner le dijo: Apártate a la derecha o a la izquierda, y echa mano de alguno de los hombres, y toma para ti sus despojos. Pero Asael no quiso apartarse de en pos de él.
Y Abner volvió a decir a Asael: Apártate de en pos de mí; ¿por qué he de herirte hasta derribarte? ¿Cómo levantaría yo entonces mi rostro delante de Joab tu hermano?
Y no queriendo él irse, lo hirió Abner con el regatón de la lanza por la quinta costilla, y le salió la lanza por la espalda, y cayó allí, y murió en aquel mismo sitio. Y todos los que venían por aquel lugar donde Asael había caído y estaba muerto, se detenían.
Mas Joab y Abisai siguieron a Abner; y se puso el sol cuando llegaron al collado de Amma, que está delante de Gía, junto al camino del desierto de Gabaón.
Y se juntaron los hijos de Benjamín en pos de Abner, formando un solo ejército; e hicieron alto en la cumbre del collado.
Y Abner dio voces a Joab, diciendo: ¿Consumirá la espada perpetuamente? ¿No sabes tú que el final será amargura? ¿Hasta cuándo no dirás al pueblo que se vuelva de perseguir a sus hermanos?
Y Joab respondió: Vive Dios, que si no hubieses hablado, el pueblo hubiera dejado de seguir a sus hermanos desde esta mañana.
Entonces Joab tocó el cuerno, y todo el pueblo se detuvo, y no persiguió más a los de Israel, ni peleó más.
Y Abner y los suyos caminaron por el Arabá toda aquella noche, y pasando el Jordán cruzaron por todo Bitrón y llegaron a Mahanaim.
Joab también volvió de perseguir a Abner, y juntando a todo el pueblo, faltaron de los siervos de David diecinueve hombres y Asael.
Mas los siervos de David hirieron de los de Benjamín y de los de Abner, a trescientos sesenta hombres, los cuales murieron.
Tomaron luego a Asael, y lo sepultaron en el sepulcro de su padre en Belén. Y caminaron toda aquella noche Joab y sus hombres, y les amaneció en Hebrón.

David Anointed King of Judah

After this David inquired of the Lord, “Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah?” And the Lord said to him, “Go up.” David said, “To which shall I go up?” And he said, “To Hebron.”
So David went up there, and his two wives also, Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail the widow of Nabal of Carmel.
And David brought up his men who were with him, everyone with his household, and they lived in the towns of Hebron.
And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah.
When they told David, “It was the men of Jabesh-gilead who buried Saul,”
David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-gilead and said to them, “May you be blessed by the Lord, because you showed this loyalty to Saul your lord and buried him.
Now may the Lord show steadfast love and faithfulness to you. And I will do good to you because you have done this thing.
Now therefore let your hands be strong, and be valiant, for Saul your lord is dead, and the house of Judah has anointed me king over them.”

Ish-bosheth Made King of Israel
But Abner the son of Ner, commander of Saul’s army, took Ish-bosheth the son of Saul and brought him over to Mahanaim,
and he made him king over Gilead and the Ashurites and Jezreel and Ephraim and Benjamin and all Israel.
Ish-bosheth, Saul’s son, was forty years old when he began to reign over Israel, and he reigned two years. But the house of Judah followed David.
And the time that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months.

The Battle of Gibeon
Abner the son of Ner, and the servants of Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, went out from Mahanaim to Gibeon.
And Joab the son of Zeruiah and the servants of David went out and met them at the pool of Gibeon. And they sat down, the one on the one side of the pool, and the other on the other side of the pool.
And Abner said to Joab, “Let the young men arise and compete before us.” And Joab said, “Let them arise.”
Then they arose and passed over by number, twelve for Benjamin and Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, and twelve of the servants of David.
And each caught his opponent by the head and thrust his sword in his opponent’s side, so they fell down together. Therefore that place was called Helkath-hazzurim, which is at Gibeon.
And the battle was very fierce that day. And Abner and the men of Israel were beaten before the servants of David.
And the three sons of Zeruiah were there, Joab, Abishai, and Asahel. Now Asahel was as swift of foot as a wild gazelle.
And Asahel pursued Abner, and as he went, he turned neither to the right hand nor to the left from following Abner.
Then Abner looked behind him and said, “Is it you, Asahel?” And he answered, “It is I.”
Abner said to him, “Turn aside to your right hand or to your left, and seize one of the young men and take his spoil.” But Asahel would not turn aside from following him.
And Abner said again to Asahel, “Turn aside from following me. Why should I strike you to the ground? How then could I lift up my face to your brother Joab?”
But he refused to turn aside. Therefore Abner struck him in the stomach with the butt of his spear, so that the spear came out at his back. And he fell there and died where he was. And all who came to the place where Asahel had fallen and died, stood still.
But Joab and Abishai pursued Abner. And as the sun was going down they came to the hill of Ammah, which lies before Giah on the way to the wilderness of Gibeon.
And the people of Benjamin gathered themselves together behind Abner and became one group and took their stand on the top of a hill.
Then Abner called to Joab, “Shall the sword devour forever? Do you not know that the end will be bitter? How long will it be before you tell your people to turn from the pursuit of their brothers?”
And Joab said, “As God lives, if you had not spoken, surely the men would not have given up the pursuit of their brothers until the morning.”
So Joab blew the trumpet, and all the men stopped and pursued Israel no more, nor did they fight anymore.
And Abner and his men went all that night through the Arabah. They crossed the Jordan, and marching the whole morning, they came to Mahanaim.
Joab returned from the pursuit of Abner. And when he had gathered all the people together, there were missing from David’s servants nineteen men besides Asahel.
But the servants of David had struck down of Benjamin 360 of Abner’s men.
And they took up Asahel and buried him in the tomb of his father, which was at Bethlehem. And Joab and his men marched all night, and the day broke upon them at Hebron.
