제 1 장

솔로몬 왕이 지혜를 구하다(왕상 3:1-15)

1   다윗의 아들 솔로몬의 왕위가 견고하여 가며 그의 하나님 여호와께서 그와 함께 하사 심히 창대하게 하시니라

2   솔로몬이 온 이스라엘의 천부장들과 백부장들과 재판관들과 온 이스라엘의 방백들과 족장들에게 명령하여

3   솔로몬이 온 회중과 함께 기브온 산당으로 갔으니 하나님의 회막 곧 여호와의 종 모세가 광야에서 지은 것이 거기에 있음이라

4   다윗이 전에 예루살렘에서 하나님의 궤를 위하여 장막을 쳐 두었으므로 그 궤는 다윗이 이미 기럇여아림에서부터 그것을 위하여 준비한 곳으로 메어 올렸고

5   옛적에 훌의 손자 우리의 아들 브살렐이 지은 놋 제단은 여호와의 장막 앞에 있더라 솔로몬이 회중과 더불어 나아가서

6   여호와 앞 곧 회막 앞에 있는 놋 제단에 솔로몬이 이르러 그 위에 천 마리 희생으로 번제를 드렸더라

7   그 날 밤에 하나님이 솔로몬에게 나타나 그에게 이르시되 내가 네게 무엇을 주랴 너는 구하라 하시니

8   솔로몬이 하나님께 말하되 주께서 전에 큰 은혜를 내 아버지 다윗에게 베푸시고 내가 그를 대신하여 왕이 되게 하셨사오니

9   여호와 하나님이여 원하건대 주는 내 아버지 다윗에게 허락하신 것을 이제 굳게 하옵소서 주께서 나를 땅의 티끌 같이 많은 백성의 왕으로 삼으셨사오니

10   주는 이제 내게 지혜와 지식을 주사 이 백성 앞에서 출입하게 하옵소서 이렇게 많은 주의 백성을 누가 능히 재판하리이까 하니

11   하나님이 솔로몬에게 이르시되 이런 마음이 네게 있어서 부나 재물이나 영광이나 원수의 생명 멸하기를 구하지 아니하며 장수도 구하지 아니하고 오직 내가 네게 다스리게 한 내 백성을 재판하기 위하여 지혜와 지식을 구하였으니

12   그러므로 내가 네게 지혜와 지식을 주고 부와 재물과 영광도 주리니 네 전의 왕들도 이런 일이 없었거니와 네 후에도 이런 일이 없으리라 하시니라

13   이에 솔로몬이 기브온 산당 회막 앞에서부터 예루살렘으로 돌아와서 이스라엘을 다스렸더라

솔로몬의 부귀영화(왕상 10:26-29)

14   솔로몬이 병거와 마병을 모으매 병거가 천사백 대요 마병이 만 이천 명이라 병거성에도 두고 예루살렘 왕에게도 두었으며

15   왕이 예루살렘에서 은금을 돌 같이 흔하게 하고 백향목을 평지의 뽕나무 같이 많게 하였더라

16   솔로몬의 말들은 애굽과 구에에서 사들였으니 왕의 무역상들이 떼로 값을 정하여 산 것이며

17   애굽에서 사들인 병거는 한 대에 은 육백 세겔이요 말은 백오십 세겔이라 이와 같이 헷 사람들의 모든 왕들과 아람 왕들을 위하여 그들의 손으로 되팔기도 하였더라

Salomón pide sabiduría

(1 R. 3.3-15)

1Salomón hijo de David fue afirmado en su reino, y Jehová su Dios estaba con él, y lo engrandeció sobremanera.

2Y convocó Salomón a todo Israel, a jefes de millares y de centenas, a jueces, y a todos los príncipes de todo Israel, jefes de familias. 3Y fue Salomón, y con él toda esta asamblea, al lugar alto que había en Gabaón; porque allí estaba el tabernáculo de reunión de Dios, que Moisés siervo de Jehová había hecho en el desierto. 4Pero David había traído el arca de Dios de Quiriat-jearim al lugar que él le había preparado; porque él le había levantado una tienda en Jerusalén. 5Asimismo el altar de bronce que había hecho Bezaleel hijo de Uri, hijo de Hur, estaba allí delante del tabernáculo de Jehová, al cual fue a consultar Salomón con aquella asamblea. 6Subió, pues, Salomón allá delante de Jehová, al altar de bronce que estaba en el tabernáculo de reunión, y ofreció sobre él mil holocaustos.

7Y aquella noche apareció Dios a Salomón y le dijo: Pídeme lo que quieras que yo te dé. 8Y Salomón dijo a Dios: Tú has tenido con David mi padre gran misericordia, y a mí me has puesto por rey en lugar suyo. 9Confírmese pues, ahora, oh Jehová Dios, tu palabra dada a David mi padre; porque tú me has puesto por rey sobre un pueblo numeroso como el polvo de la tierra. 10Dame ahora sabiduría y ciencia, para presentarme delante de este pueblo; porque ¿quién podrá gobernar a este tu pueblo tan grande? 11Y dijo Dios a Salomón: Por cuanto hubo esto en tu corazón, y no pediste riquezas, bienes o gloria, ni la vida de los que te quieren mal, ni pediste muchos días, sino que has pedido para ti sabiduría y ciencia para gobernar a mi pueblo, sobre el cual te he puesto por rey, 12sabiduría y ciencia te son dadas; y también te daré riquezas, bienes y gloria, como nunca tuvieron los reyes que han sido antes de ti, ni tendrán los que vengan después de ti. 13Y desde el lugar alto que estaba en Gabaón, delante del tabernáculo de reunión, volvió Salomón a Jerusalén, y reinó sobre Israel.

Salomón comercia en caballos y en carros

(1 R. 10.26-29; 2 Cr. 9.25-28)

14Y juntó Salomón carros y gente de a caballo; y tuvo mil cuatrocientos carros y doce mil jinetes, los cuales puso en las ciudades de los carros y con el rey en Jerusalén. 15Y acumuló el rey plata y oro en Jerusalén como piedras, y cedro como cabrahígos de la Sefela en abundancia. 16Y los mercaderes del rey compraban por contrato caballos y lienzos finos de Egipto para Salomón. 17Y subían y compraban en Egipto un carro por seiscientas piezas de plata, y un caballo por ciento cincuenta; y así compraban por medio de ellos para todos los reyes de los heteos, y para los reyes de Siria.

Solomon Worships at Gibeon

1 Solomon the son of David established himself in his kingdom, and the Lord his God was with him and made him exceedingly great.

2Solomon spoke to all Israel, to the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, to the judges, and to all the leaders in all Israel, the heads of fathers’ houses. 3And Solomon, and all the assembly with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon, for the tent of meeting of God, which Moses the servant of the Lord had made in the wilderness, was there. 4(But David had brought up the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim to the place that David had prepared for it, for he had pitched a tent for it in Jerusalem.) 5Moreover, the bronze altar that Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, had made, was there before the tabernacle of the Lord. And Solomon and the assembly sought it out. 6And Solomon went up there to the bronze altar before the Lord, which was at the tent of meeting, and offered a thousand burnt offerings on it.

Solomon Prays for Wisdom

7 In that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, “Ask what I shall give you.” 8And Solomon said to God, “You have shown great and steadfast love to David my father, and have made me king in his place. 9O Lord God, let your word to David my father be now fulfilled, for you have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth. 10Give me now wisdom and knowledge to go out and come in before this people, for who can govern this people of yours, which is so great?” 11God answered Solomon, “Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked for possessions, wealth, honor, or the life of those who hate you, and have not even asked for long life, but have asked for wisdom and knowledge for yourself that you may govern my people over whom I have made you king, 12wisdom and knowledge are granted to you. I will also give you riches, possessions, and honor, such as none of the kings had who were before you, and none after you shall have the like.” 13So Solomon came from the high place at Gibeon, from before the tent of meeting, to Jerusalem. And he reigned over Israel.

Solomon Given Wealth

14 Solomon gathered together chariots and horsemen. He had 1,400 chariots and 12,000 horsemen, whom he stationed in the chariot cities and with the king in Jerusalem. 15And the king made silver and gold as common in Jerusalem as stone, and he made cedar as plentiful as the sycamore of the Shephelah. 16And Solomon’s import of horses was from Egypt and Kue, and the king’s traders would buy them from Kue for a price. 17They imported a chariot from Egypt for 600 shekels of silver, and a horse for 150. Likewise through them these were exported to all the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Syria.
