제 23 장

레위 사람의 일

1   다윗이 나이가 많아 늙으매 아들 솔로몬을 이스라엘 왕으로 삼고

2   이스라엘 모든 방백과 제사장과 레위 사람을 모았더라

3   레위 사람은 삼십 세 이상으로 계수하니 모든 남자의 수가 삼만 팔천 명인데

4   그 중의 이만 사천 명은 여호와의 성전의 일을 보살피는 자요 육천 명은 관원과 재판관이요

5   사천 명은 문지기요 사천 명은 그가 여호와께 찬송을 드리기 위하여 만든 악기로 찬송하는 자들이라

6   다윗이 레위의 아들들을 게르손과 그핫과 므라리에 따라 각 반으로 나누었더라

7   게르손 자손은 라단과 시므이라

8   라단의 아들들은 우두머리 여히엘과 또 세담과 요엘 세 사람이요

9   시므이의 아들들은 슬로밋과 하시엘과 하란 세 사람이니 이는 라단의 우두머리들이며

10   또 시므이의 아들들은 야핫과 시나와 여우스와 브리아이니 이 네 사람도 시므이의 아들이라

11   그 우두머리는 야핫이요 그 다음은 시사며 여우스와 브리아는 아들이 많지 아니하므로 그들과 한 조상의 가문으로 계수되었더라

12   그핫의 아들들은 아므람과 이스할과 헤브론과 웃시엘 네 사람이라

13   아므람의 아들들은 아론과 모세이니 아론은 그 자손들과 함께 구별되어 몸을 성결하게 하여 영원토록 심히 거룩한 자가 되어 여호와 앞에 분향하고 섬기며 영원토록 그 이름으로 축복하게 되었느니라

14   하나님의 사람 모세의 아들들은 레위 지파 중에 기록되었으니

15   모세의 아들은 게르솜과 엘리에셀이라

16   게르솜의 아들중에 스브엘이 우두머리가 되었고

17   엘리에셀의 아들들은 우두머리 르하뱌라 엘리에셀에게 이 외에는 다른 아들이 없고 르하뱌의 아들들은 심히 많았으며

18   이스할의 아들들은 우두머리 슬로밋이요

19   헤브론의 아들들은 우두머리 여리야와 둘째 아마랴와 셋째 야하시엘과 넷째 여가므암이며

20   웃시엘의 아들들은 우두머리 미가와 그 다음 잇시야더라

21   므라리의 아들들은 마흘리와 무시요 마흘리의 아들들은 엘르아살과 기스라

22   엘르아살이 아들이 없이 죽고 딸만 있더니 그의 형제 기스의 아들이 그에게 장가 들었으며

23   무시의 아들들은 마흘리와 에델과 여레못 세 사람이더라

24   이는 다 레위 자손이니 그 조상의 가문을 따라 계수된 이름이 기록되고 여호와의 성전에서 섬기는 일을 하는 이십세 이상 된 우두머리들이라

25   다윗이 이르기를 이스라엘 하나님 여호와께서 평강을 그의 백성에게 주시고 예루살렘에 영원히 거하시나니

26   레위 사람이 다시는 성막과 그 가운데에서 쓰는 모든 기구를 멜 필요가 없다 한지라

27   다윗의 유언대로 레위 자손이 이십 세 이상으로 계수되었으니

28   그 직분은 아론의 자손을 도와 여호와의 성전과 뜰과 골방에서 섬기고 또 모든 성물을 정결하게 하는 일 곧 하나님의 성전에서 섬기는 일과

29   또 진설병과 고운 가루의 소제물 곧 무교전병이나 과자를 굽는 것이나 반죽하는 것이나 또 모든 저울과 자를 맡고

30   아침과 저녁마다 서서 여호와께 감사하고 찬송하며

31   또 안식일과 초하루와 절기에 모든 번제를 여호와께 드리되 그가 명령하신 규례의 정한 수효대로 항상 여호와 앞에 드리며

32   또 회막의 직무와 성소의 직무와 그들의 형제 아론 자손의 직무를 지켜 여호와의 성전에서 수종드는 것이더라

Distribución y deberes de los levitas

1Siendo, pues, David ya viejo y lleno de días, hizo a Salomón su hijo rey sobre Israel.

2Y juntando a todos los principales de Israel, y a los sacerdotes y levitas, 3fueron contados los levitas de treinta años arriba; y fue el número de ellos por sus cabezas, contados uno por uno, treinta y ocho mil. 4De estos, veinticuatro mil para dirigir la obra de la casa de Jehová, y seis mil para gobernadores y jueces. 5Además, cuatro mil porteros, y cuatro mil para alabar a Jehová, dijo David, con los instrumentos que he hecho para tributar alabanzas. 6Y los repartió David en grupos conforme a los hijos de Leví: Gersón, Coat y Merari.

7Los hijos de Gersón: Laadán y Simei. 8Los hijos de Laadán, tres: Jehiel el primero, después Zetam y Joel. 9Los hijos de Simei, tres: Selomit, Haziel y Harán. Estos fueron los jefes de las familias de Laadán. 10Y los hijos de Simei: Jahat, Zina, Jeús y Bería. Estos cuatro fueron los hijos de Simei. 11Jahat era el primero, y Zina el segundo; pero Jeús y Bería no tuvieron muchos hijos, por lo cual fueron contados como una familia.

12Los hijos de Coat: Amram, Izhar, Hebrón y Uziel, ellos cuatro. 13Los hijos de Amram: Aarón y Moisés. Y Aarón fue apartado para ser dedicado a las cosas más santas, él y sus hijos para siempre, para que quemasen incienso delante de Jehová, y le ministrasen y bendijesen en su nombre, para siempre. 14Y los hijos de Moisés varón de Dios fueron contados en la tribu de Leví. 15Los hijos de Moisés fueron Gersón y Eliezer. 16Hijo de Gersón fue Sebuel el jefe. 17E hijo de Eliezer fue Rehabías el jefe. Y Eliezer no tuvo otros hijos; mas los hijos de Rehabías fueron muchos. 18Hijo de Izhar fue Selomit el jefe. 19Los hijos de Hebrón: Jerías el jefe, Amarías el segundo, Jahaziel el tercero, y Jecamán el cuarto. 20Los hijos de Uziel: Micaía el jefe, e Isías el segundo.

21Los hijos de Merari: Mahli y Musi. Los hijos de Mahli: Eleazar y Cis. 22Y murió Eleazar sin hijos; pero tuvo hijas, y los hijos de Cis, sus parientes, las tomaron por mujeres. 23Los hijos de Musi: Mahli, Edar y Jeremot, ellos tres.

24Estos son los hijos de Leví en las familias de sus padres, jefes de familias según el censo de ellos, contados por sus nombres, por sus cabezas, de veinte años arriba, los cuales trabajaban en el ministerio de la casa de Jehová. 25Porque David dijo: Jehová Dios de Israel ha dado paz a su pueblo Israel, y él habitará en Jerusalén para siempre. 26Y también los levitas no tendrán que llevar más el tabernáculo y todos los utensilios para su ministerio. 27Así que, conforme a las postreras palabras de David, se hizo la cuenta de los hijos de Leví de veinte años arriba. 28Y estaban bajo las órdenes de los hijos de Aarón para ministrar en la casa de Jehová, en los atrios, en las cámaras, y en la purificación de toda cosa santificada, y en la demás obra del ministerio de la casa de Dios. 29Asimismo para los panes de la proposición, para la flor de harina para el sacrificio, para las hojuelas sin levadura, para lo preparado en sartén, para lo tostado, y para toda medida y cuenta; 30y para asistir cada mañana todos los días a dar gracias y tributar alabanzas a Jehová, y asimismo por la tarde; 31y para ofrecer todos los holocaustos a Jehová los días de reposo, lunas nuevas y fiestas solemnes, según su número y de acuerdo con su rito, continuamente delante de Jehová; 32y para que tuviesen la guarda del tabernáculo de reunión, y la guarda del santuario, bajo las órdenes de los hijos de Aarón sus hermanos, en el ministerio de la casa de Jehová.

David Organizes the Levites

1 When David was old and full of days, he made Solomon his son king over Israel.

2David assembled all the leaders of Israel and the priests and the Levites. 3The Levites, thirty years old and upward, were numbered, and the total was 38,000 men. 4“Twenty-four thousand of these,” David said, “shall have charge of the work in the house of the Lord, 6,000 shall be officers and judges, 54,000 gatekeepers, and 4,000 shall offer praises to the Lord with the instruments that I have made for praise.” 6And David organized them in divisions corresponding to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

7 The sons of Gershon were Ladan and Shimei. 8The sons of Ladan: Jehiel the chief, and Zetham, and Joel, three. 9The sons of Shimei: Shelomoth, Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the heads of the fathers’ houses of Ladan. 10And the sons of Shimei: Jahath, Zina, and Jeush and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei. 11Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second; but Jeush and Beriah did not have many sons, therefore they became counted as a single father’s house.

12 The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four. 13The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses. Aaron was set apart to dedicate the most holy things, that he and his sons forever should make offerings before the Lord and minister to him and pronounce blessings in his name forever. 14But the sons of Moses the man of God were named among the tribe of Levi. 15The sons of Moses: Gershom and Eliezer. 16The sons of Gershom: Shebuel the chief. 17The sons of Eliezer: Rehabiah the chief. Eliezer had no other sons, but the sons of Rehabiah were very many. 18The sons of Izhar: Shelomith the chief. 19The sons of Hebron: Jeriah the chief, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth. 20The sons of Uzziel: Micah the chief and Isshiah the second.

21 The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish. 22Eleazar died having no sons, but only daughters; their kinsmen, the sons of Kish, married them. 23The sons of Mushi: Mahli, Eder, and Jeremoth, three.

24 These were the sons of Levi by their fathers’ houses, the heads of fathers’ houses as they were listed according to the number of the names of the individuals from twenty years old and upward who were to do the work for the service of the house of the Lord. 25For David said, “The Lord, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people, and he dwells in Jerusalem forever. 26And so the Levites no longer need to carry the tabernacle or any of the things for its service.” 27For by the last words of David the sons of Levi were numbered from twenty years old and upward. 28For their duty was to assist the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the Lord, having the care of the courts and the chambers, the cleansing of all that is holy, and any work for the service of the house of God. 29Their duty was also to assist with the showbread, the flour for the grain offering, the wafers of unleavened bread, the baked offering, the offering mixed with oil, and all measures of quantity or size. 30And they were to stand every morning, thanking and praising the Lord, and likewise at evening, 31and whenever burnt offerings were offered to the Lord on Sabbaths, new moons, and feast days, according to the number required of them, regularly before the Lord. 32Thus they were to keep charge of the tent of meeting and the sanctuary, and to attend the sons of Aaron, their brothers, for the service of the house of the Lord.
