제 3 장
비로소 여호와께 번제를 드리다
1 이스라엘 자손이 각자의 성읍에 살았더니 일곱째 달에 이르러 일제히 예루살렘에 모인지라
2 요사닥의 아들 예수아와 그의 형제 제사장들과 스알디엘의 아들 스룹바벨과 그의 형제들이 다 일어나 이스라엘 하나님의 제단을 만들고 하나님의 사람 모세의 율법에 기록한 대로 번제를 그 위에서 드리려 할새
3 무리가 모든 나라 백성을 두려워하여 제단을 그 터에 세우고 그 위에서 아침 저녁으로 여호와께 번제를 드리며
4 기록된 규례대로 초막절을 지켜 번제를 매일 정수대로 날마다 드리고
5 그 후에는 항상 드리는 번제와 초하루와 여호와의 모든 거룩한 절기의 번제와 사람이 여호와께 기쁘게 드리는 예물을 드리되
6 일곱째 달 초하루부터 비로소 여호와께 번제를 드렸으나 그 때에 여호와의 성전 지대는 미처 놓지 못한지라
7 이에 석수와 목수에게 돈을 주고 또 시돈 사람과 두로 사람에게 먹을 것과 마실 것과 기름을 주고 바사 왕 고레스의 명령대로 백향목을 레바논에서 욥바 해변까지 운송하게 하였더라
성전 건축을 시작하다
8 예루살렘에 있는 하나님의 성전에 이른 지 이 년 둘째 달에 스알디엘의 아들 스룹바벨과 요사닥의 아들 예수아와 다른 형제 제사장들과 레위 사람들과 무릇 사로잡혔다가 예루살렘에 돌아온 자들이 공사를 시작하고 이십 세 이상의 레위 사람들을 세워 여호와의 성전 공사를 감독하게 하매
9 이에 예수아와 그의 아들들과 그의 형제들과 갓미엘과 그의 아들들과 유다 자손과 헤나닷 자손과 그의 형제 레위 사람들이 일제히 일어나 하나님의 성전 일꾼들을 감독하니라
10 건축자가 여호와의 성전의 기초를 놓을 때에 제사장들은 예복을 입고 나팔을 들고 아삽 자손 레위 사람들은 제금을 들고 서서 이스라엘 왕 다윗의 규례대로 여호와를 찬송하되
11 찬양으로 화답하며 여호와께 감사하여 이르되 주는 지극히 선하시므로 그의 인자하심이 이스라엘에게 영원하시도다 하니 모든 백성이 여호와의 성전 기초가 놓임을 보고 여호와를 찬송하며 큰 소리로 즐거이 부르며
12 제사장들과 레위 사람들과 나이 많은 족장들은 첫 성전을 보았으므로 이제 이 성전의 기초가 놓임을 보고 대성통곡하였으나 여러 사람은 기쁨으로 크게 함성을 지르니
13 백성이 크게 외치는 소리가 멀리 들리므로 즐거이 부르는 소리와 통곡하는 소리를 백성들이 분간하지 못하였더라

Restauración del altar y del culto
1Cuando llegó el mes séptimo, y estando los hijos de Israel ya establecidos en las ciudades, se juntó el pueblo como un solo hombre en Jerusalén. 2Entonces se levantaron Jesúa hijo de Josadac y sus hermanos los sacerdotes, y Zorobabel hijo de Salatiel y sus hermanos, y edificaron el altar del Dios de Israel, para ofrecer sobre él holocaustos, como está escrito en la ley de Moisés varón de Dios. 3Y colocaron el altar sobre su base, porque tenían miedo de los pueblos de las tierras, y ofrecieron sobre él holocaustos a Jehová, holocaustos por la mañana y por la tarde. 4Celebraron asimismo la fiesta solemne de los tabernáculos, como está escrito, y holocaustos cada día por orden conforme al rito, cada cosa en su día; 5además de esto, el holocausto continuo, las nuevas lunas, y todas las fiestas solemnes de Jehová, y todo sacrificio espontáneo, toda ofrenda voluntaria a Jehová. 6Desde el primer día del mes séptimo comenzaron a ofrecer holocaustos a Jehová; pero los cimientos del templo de Jehová no se habían echado todavía. 7Y dieron dinero a los albañiles y carpinteros; asimismo comida, bebida y aceite a los sidonios y tirios para que trajesen madera de cedro desde el Líbano por mar a Jope, conforme a la voluntad de Ciro rey de Persia acerca de esto.
Colocación de los cimientos del templo
8En el año segundo de su venida a la casa de Dios en Jerusalén, en el mes segundo, comenzaron Zorobabel hijo de Salatiel, Jesúa hijo de Josadac y los otros sus hermanos, los sacerdotes y los levitas, y todos los que habían venido de la cautividad a Jerusalén; y pusieron a los levitas de veinte años arriba para que activasen la obra de la casa de Jehová. 9Jesúa también, sus hijos y sus hermanos, Cadmiel y sus hijos, hijos de Judá, como un solo hombre asistían para activar a los que hacían la obra en la casa de Dios, junto con los hijos de Henadad, sus hijos y sus hermanos, levitas.
10Y cuando los albañiles del templo de Jehová echaban los cimientos, pusieron a los sacerdotes vestidos de sus ropas y con trompetas, y a los levitas hijos de Asaf con címbalos, para que alabasen a Jehová, según la ordenanza de David rey de Israel. 11Y cantaban, alabando y dando gracias a Jehová, y diciendo: Porque él es bueno, porque para siempre es su misericordia sobre Israel. Y todo el pueblo aclamaba con gran júbilo, alabando a Jehová porque se echaban los cimientos de la casa de Jehová. 12Y muchos de los sacerdotes, de los levitas y de los jefes de casas paternas, ancianos que habían visto la casa primera, viendo echar los cimientos de esta casa, lloraban en alta voz, mientras muchos otros daban grandes gritos de alegría. 13Y no podía distinguir el pueblo el clamor de los gritos de alegría, de la voz del lloro; porque clamaba el pueblo con gran júbilo, y se oía el ruido hasta de lejos.

Rebuilding the Altar
1 When the seventh month came, and the children of Israel were in the towns, the people gathered as one man to Jerusalem. 2Then arose Jeshua the son of Jozadak, with his fellow priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel with his kinsmen, and they built the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings on it, as it is written in the Law of Moses the man of God. 3They set the altar in its place, for fear was on them because of the peoples of the lands, and they offered burnt offerings on it to the Lord, burnt offerings morning and evening. 4And they kept the Feast of Booths, as it is written, and offered the daily burnt offerings by number according to the rule, as each day required, 5and after that the regular burnt offerings, the offerings at the new moon and at all the appointed feasts of the Lord, and the offerings of everyone who made a freewill offering to the Lord. 6From the first day of the seventh month they began to offer burnt offerings to the Lord. But the foundation of the temple of the Lord was not yet laid. 7So they gave money to the masons and the carpenters, and food, drink, and oil to the Sidonians and the Tyrians to bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea, to Joppa, according to the grant that they had from Cyrus king of Persia.
Rebuilding the Temple
8Now in the second year after their coming to the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua the son of Jozadak made a beginning, together with the rest of their kinsmen, the priests and the Levites and all who had come to Jerusalem from the captivity. They appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to supervise the work of the house of the Lord. 9And Jeshua with his sons and his brothers, and Kadmiel and his sons, the sons of Judah, together supervised the workmen in the house of God, along with the sons of Henadad and the Levites, their sons and brothers.
10And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the Lord, the priests in their vestments came forward with trumpets, and the Levites, the sons of Asaph, with cymbals, to praise the Lord, according to the directions of David king of Israel. 11And they sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to the Lord,
“For he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever toward Israel.”
And all the people shouted with a great shout when they praised the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid. 12But many of the priests and Levites and heads of fathers’ houses, old men who had seen the first house, wept with a loud voice when they saw the foundation of this house being laid, though many shouted aloud for joy, 13so that the people could not distinguish the sound of the joyful shout from the sound of the people’s weeping, for the people shouted with a great shout, and the sound was heard far away.
