제 7 장

에스라가 예루살렘에 이르다

1   이 일 후에 바사 왕 아닥사스다가 왕위에 있을 때에 에스라라 하는 자가 있으니라 그는 스라야의 아들이요 아사랴의 손자요 힐기야의 증손이요

2   살룸의 현손이요 사독의 오대 손이요 아히둡의 육대 손이요

3   아마랴의 칠대 손이요 아사랴의 팔대 손이요 므라욧의 구대 손이요

4   스라히야의 십대 손이요 웃시엘의 십일대 손이요 북기의 십이대 손이요

5   아비수아의 십삼대 손이요 비느하스의 십사대 손이요 엘르아살의 십오대 손이요 대제사장 아론의 십육대 손이라

6   이 에스라가 바벨론에서 올라왔으니 그는 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 주신 모세의 율법에 익숙한 학자로서 그의 하나님 여호와의 도우심을 입음으로 왕에게 구하는 것은 다 받는 자이더니

7   아닥사스다 왕 제칠년에 이스라엘 자손과 제사장들과 레위 사람들과 노래하는 자들과 문지기들과 느디님 사람들 중에 몇 사람이 예루살렘으로 올라올 때에

8   이 에스라가 올라왔으니 왕의 제칠년 다섯째 달이라

9   첫째 달 초하루에 바벨론에서 길을 떠났고 하나님의 선한 손의 도우심을 입어 다섯째 달 초하루에 예루살렘에 이르니라

10   에스라가 여호와의 율법을 연구하여 준행하며 율례와 규례를 이스라엘에게 가르치기로 결심하였었더라

아닥사스다 왕이 내린 조서

11   여호와의 계명의 말씀과 이스라엘에게 주신 율례 학자요 학자 겸 제사장인 에스라에게 아닥사스다 왕이 내린 조서의 초본은 아래와 같으니라

12   모든 왕의 왕 아닥사스다는 하늘의 하나님의 율법에 완전한 학자 겸 제사장 에스라에게

13   조서를 내리노니 우리 나라에 있는 이스라엘 백성과 그들 제사장들과 레위 사람들 중에 예루살렘으로 올라갈 뜻이 있는 자는 누구든지 너와 함께 갈지어다

14   너는 네 손에 있는 네 하나님의 율법을 따라 유다와 예루살렘의 형편을 살피기 위하여 왕과 일곱 자문관의 보냄을 받았으니

15   왕과 자문관들이 예루살렘에 거하시는 이스라엘 하나님께 성심으로 드리는 은금을 가져가고

16   또 네가 바벨론 온 도에서 얻을 모든 은금과 및 백성과 제사장들이 예루살렘에 있는 그들의 하나님의 성전을 위하여 기쁘게 드릴 예물을 가져다가

17   그들의 돈으로 수송아지와 숫양과 어린 양과 그 소제와 그 전제의 물품을 신속히 사서 예루살렘 네 하나님의 성전 제단 위에 드리고

18   그 나머지 은금은 너와 너의 형제가 좋게 여기는 일에 너희 하나님의 뜻을 따라 쓸지며

19   네 하나님의 성전에서 섬기는 일을 위하여 네게 준 그릇은 예루살렘 하나님 앞에 드리고

20   그 외에도 네 하나님의 성전에 쓰일 것이 있어서 네가 드리고자 하거든 무엇이든지 궁중창고에서 내다가 드릴지니라

21   나 곧 아닥사스다 왕이 유브라데 강 건너편 모든 창고지기에게 조서를 내려 이르기를 하늘의 하나님의 율법 학자 겸 제사장 에스라가 무릇 너희에게 구하는 것을 신속히 시행하되

22   은은 백 달란트까지, 밀은 백 고르까지, 포도주는 백 밧까지, 기름도 백 밧까지 하고 소금은 정량 없이 하라

23   무릇 하늘의 하나님의 전을 위하여 하늘의 하나님이 명령하신 것은 삼가 행하라 어찌하여 진노가 왕과 왕자의 나라에 임하게 하랴

24   내가 너희에게 이르노니 제사장들이나 레위 사람들이나 노래하는 자들이나 문지기들이나 느디님 사람들이나 혹 하나님의 성전에서 일하는 자들에게 조공과 관세와 통행세를 받는 것이 옳지 않으니라 하였노라

25   에스라여 너는 네 손에 있는 네 하나님의 지혜를 따라 네 하나님의 율법을 아는 자를 법관과 재판관을 삼아 강 건너편 모든 백성을 재판하게 하고 그 중 알지 못하는 자는 너희가 가르치라

26   무릇 네 하나님의 명령과 왕의 명령을 준행하지 아니하는 자는 속히 그 죄를 정하여 혹 죽이거나 귀양 보내거나 가산을 몰수하거나 옥에 가둘지니라 하였더라

에스라가 여호와를 송축하다

27   우리 조상들의 하나님 여호와를 송축할지로다 그가 왕의 마음에 예루살렘 여호와의 성전을 아름답게 할 뜻을 두시고

28   또 나로 왕과 그의 보좌관들 앞과 왕의 권세 있는 모든 방백의 앞에서 은혜를 얻게 하셨도다 내 하나님 여호와의 손이 내 위에 있으므로 내가 힘을 얻어 이스라엘 중에 우두머리들을 모아 나와 함께 올라오게 하였노라

#ESDRAS 7

Esdras y sus compañeros llegan a Jerusalén

1Pasadas estas cosas, en el reinado de Artajerjes rey de Persia, Esdras hijo de Seraías, hijo de Azarías, hijo de Hilcías, 2hijo de Salum, hijo de Sadoc, hijo de Ahitob, 3hijo de Amarías, hijo de Azarías, hijo de Meraiot, 4hijo de Zeraías, hijo de Uzi, hijo de Buqui, 5hijo de Abisúa, hijo de Finees, hijo de Eleazar, hijo de Aarón, primer sacerdote, 6este Esdras subió de Babilonia. Era escriba diligente en la ley de Moisés, que Jehová Dios de Israel había dado; y le concedió el rey todo lo que pidió, porque la mano de Jehová su Dios estaba sobre Esdras.

7Y con él subieron a Jerusalén algunos de los hijos de Israel, y de los sacerdotes, levitas, cantores, porteros y sirvientes del templo, en el séptimo año del rey Artajerjes. 8Y llegó a Jerusalén en el mes quinto del año séptimo del rey. 9Porque el día primero del primer mes fue el principio de la partida de Babilonia, y al primero del mes quinto llegó a Jerusalén, estando con él la buena mano de Dios. 10Porque Esdras había preparado su corazón para inquirir la ley de Jehová y para cumplirla, y para enseñar en Israel sus estatutos y decretos.

11Esta es la copia de la carta que dio el rey Artajerjes al sacerdote Esdras, escriba versado en los mandamientos de Jehová y en sus estatutos a Israel: 12Artajerjes rey de reyes, a Esdras, sacerdote y escriba erudito en la ley del Dios del cielo: Paz. 13Por mí es dada orden que todo aquel en mi reino, del pueblo de Israel y de sus sacerdotes y levitas, que quiera ir contigo a Jerusalén, vaya. 14Porque de parte del rey y de sus siete consejeros eres enviado a visitar a Judea y a Jerusalén, conforme a la ley de tu Dios que está en tu mano; 15y a llevar la plata y el oro que el rey y sus consejeros voluntariamente ofrecen al Dios de Israel, cuya morada está en Jerusalén, 16y toda la plata y el oro que halles en toda la provincia de Babilonia, con las ofrendas voluntarias del pueblo y de los sacerdotes, que voluntariamente ofrecieren para la casa de su Dios, la cual está en Jerusalén. 17Comprarás, pues, diligentemente con este dinero becerros, carneros y corderos, con sus ofrendas y sus libaciones, y los ofrecerás sobre el altar de la casa de vuestro Dios, la cual está en Jerusalén. 18Y lo que a ti y a tus hermanos os parezca hacer de la otra plata y oro, hacedlo conforme a la voluntad de vuestro Dios. 19Los utensilios que te son entregados para el servicio de la casa de tu Dios, los restituirás delante de Dios en Jerusalén. 20Y todo lo que se requiere para la casa de tu Dios, que te sea necesario dar, lo darás de la casa de los tesoros del rey.

21Y por mí, Artajerjes rey, es dada orden a todos los tesoreros que están al otro lado del río, que todo lo que os pida el sacerdote Esdras, escriba de la ley del Dios del cielo, se le conceda prontamente, 22hasta cien talentos de plata, cien coros de trigo, cien batos de vino, y cien batos de aceite; y sal sin medida. 23Todo lo que es mandado por el Dios del cielo, sea hecho prontamente para la casa del Dios del cielo; pues, ¿por qué habría de ser su ira contra el reino del rey y de sus hijos? 24Y a vosotros os hacemos saber que a todos los sacerdotes y levitas, cantores, porteros, sirvientes del templo y ministros de la casa de Dios, ninguno podrá imponerles tributo, contribución ni renta.

25Y tú, Esdras, conforme a la sabiduría que tienes de tu Dios, pon jueces y gobernadores que gobiernen a todo el pueblo que está al otro lado del río, a todos los que conocen las leyes de tu Dios; y al que no las conoce, le enseñarás. 26Y cualquiera que no cumpliere la ley de tu Dios, y la ley del rey, sea juzgado prontamente, sea a muerte, a destierro, a pena de multa, o prisión.

27Bendito Jehová Dios de nuestros padres, que puso tal cosa en el corazón del rey, para honrar la casa de Jehová que está en Jerusalén, 28e inclinó hacia mí su misericordia delante del rey y de sus consejeros, y de todos los príncipes poderosos del rey. Y yo, fortalecido por la mano de mi Dios sobre mí, reuní a los principales de Israel para que subiesen conmigo.

#Ezra 7

Ezra Sent to Teach the People

1Now after this, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, son of Azariah, son of Hilkiah, 2son of Shallum, son of Zadok, son of Ahitub, 3son of Amariah, son of Azariah, son of Meraioth, 4son of Zerahiah, son of Uzzi, son of Bukki, 5son of Abishua, son of Phinehas, son of Eleazar, son of Aaron the chief priest— 6this Ezra went up from Babylonia. He was a scribe skilled in the Law of Moses that the Lord, the God of Israel, had given, and the king granted him all that he asked, for the hand of the Lord his God was on him.

7And there went up also to Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king, some of the people of Israel, and some of the priests and Levites, the singers and gatekeepers, and the temple servants. 8And Ezra came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king. 9For on the first day of the first month he began to go up from Babylonia, and on the first day of the fifth month he came to Jerusalem, for the good hand of his God was on him. 10For Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the Lord, and to do it and to teach his statutes and rules in Israel.

11This is a copy of the letter that King Artaxerxes gave to Ezra the priest, the scribe, a man learned in matters of the commandments of the Lord and his statutes for Israel: 12“Artaxerxes, king of kings, to Ezra the priest, the scribe of the Law of the God of heaven. Peace. And now 13I make a decree that anyone of the people of Israel or their priests or Levites in my kingdom, who freely offers to go to Jerusalem, may go with you. 14For you are sent by the king and his seven counselors to make inquiries about Judah and Jerusalem according to the Law of your God, which is in your hand, 15and also to carry the silver and gold that the king and his counselors have freely offered to the God of Israel, whose dwelling is in Jerusalem, 16with all the silver and gold that you shall find in the whole province of Babylonia, and with the freewill offerings of the people and the priests, vowed willingly for the house of their God that is in Jerusalem. 17With this money, then, you shall with all diligence buy bulls, rams, and lambs, with their grain offerings and their drink offerings, and you shall offer them on the altar of the house of your God that is in Jerusalem. 18Whatever seems good to you and your brothers to do with the rest of the silver and gold, you may do, according to the will of your God. 19The vessels that have been given you for the service of the house of your God, you shall deliver before the God of Jerusalem. 20And whatever else is required for the house of your God, which it falls to you to provide, you may provide it out of the king’s treasury.

21“And I, Artaxerxes the king, make a decree to all the treasurers in the province Beyond the River: Whatever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the Law of the God of heaven, requires of you, let it be done with all diligence, 22up to 100 talents of silver, 100 cors of wheat, 100 baths of wine, 100 baths of oil, and salt without prescribing how much. 23Whatever is decreed by the God of heaven, let it be done in full for the house of the God of heaven, lest his wrath be against the realm of the king and his sons. 24We also notify you that it shall not be lawful to impose tribute, custom, or toll on anyone of the priests, the Levites, the singers, the doorkeepers, the temple servants, or other servants of this house of God.

25“And you, Ezra, according to the wisdom of your God that is in your hand, appoint magistrates and judges who may judge all the people in the province Beyond the River, all such as know the laws of your God. And those who do not know them, you shall teach. 26Whoever will not obey the law of your God and the law of the king, let judgment be strictly executed on him, whether for death or for banishment or for confiscation of his goods or for imprisonment.”

27 Blessed be the Lord, the God of our fathers, who put such a thing as this into the heart of the king, to beautify the house of the Lord that is in Jerusalem, 28and who extended to me his steadfast love before the king and his counselors, and before all the king’s mighty officers. I took courage, for the hand of the Lord my God was on me, and I gathered leading men from Israel to go up with me.
