제 21 장

유다 왕 여호람(왕하 8:17-24)

1   여호사밧이 그의 조상들과 함께 누우매 그의 조상들과 함께 다윗 성에 장사되고 그의 아들 여호람이 대신하여 왕이 되니라

2   여호사밧의 아들 여호람의 아우들 아사랴와 여히엘과 스가랴와 아사랴와 미가엘과 스바댜는 다 유다 왕 여호사밧의 아들들이라

3   그의 아버지가 그들에게는 은금과 보물과 유다 견고한 성읍들을 선물로 후히 주었고 여호람은 장자이므로 왕위를 주었더니

4   여호람이 그의 아버지의 왕국을 다스리게 되어 세력을 얻은 후에 그의 모든 아우들과 이스라엘 방백들 중 몇 사람을 칼로 죽였더라

5   여호람이 왕위에 오를 때에 나이가 삼십이 세라 예루살렘에서 팔 년 동안 다스리니라

6   그가 이스라엘 왕들의 길로 행하여 아합의 집과 같이 하였으니 이는 아합의 딸이 그의 아내가 되었음이라 그가 여호와 보시기에 악을 행하였으나

7   여호와께서 다윗의 집을 멸하기를 즐겨하지 아니하셨음은 이전에 다윗과 더불어 언약을 세우시고 또 다윗과 그의 자손에게 항상 등불을 주겠다고 말씀하셨음이더라

8   여호람 때에 에돔이 배반하여 유다의 지배하에서 벗어나 자기 위에 왕을 세우므로

9   여호람이 지휘관들과 모든 병거를 거느리고 출정하였더니 밤에 일어나서 자기를 에워싼 에돔 사람과 그 병거의 지휘관들을 쳤더라

10   이와 같이 에돔이 배반하여 유다의 지배하에서 벗어났더니 오늘까지 그러하였으며 그 때에 립나도 배반하여 여호람의 지배 하에서 벗어났으니 이는 그가 그의 조상들의 하나님 여호와를 버렸음이더라

11   여호람이 또 유다 여러 산에 산당을 세워 예루살렘 주민으로 음행하게 하고 또 유다를 미혹하게 하였으므로

12   선지자 엘리야가 여호람에게 글을 보내어 이르되 왕의 조상 다윗의 하나님 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시기를 네가 네 아비 여호사밧의 길과 유다 왕 아사의 길로 행하지 아니하고

13   오직 이스라엘 왕들의 길로 행하여 유다와 예루살렘 주민들이 음행하게 하기를 아합의 집이 음행하듯 하며 또 네 아비 집에서 너보다 착한 아우들을 죽였으니

14   여호와가 네 백성과 네 자녀들과 네 아내들과 네 모든 재물을 큰 재앙으로 치시리라

15   또 너는 창자에 중병이 들고 그 병이 날로 중하여 창자가 빠져나오리라 하셨다 하였더라

16   여호와께서 블레셋 사람들과 구스에서 가까운 아라비아 사람들의 마음을 격동시키사 여호람을 치게 하셨으므로

17   그들이 올라와서 유다를 침략하여 왕궁의 모든 재물과 그의 아들들과 아내들을 탈취하였으므로 막내 아들 여호아하스 외에는 한 아들도 남지 아니하였더라

18   이 모든 일 후에 여호와께서 여호람을 치사 능히 고치지 못할 병이 그 창자에 들게 하셨으므로

19   여러 날 후 이 년 만에 그의 창자가 그 병으로 말미암아 빠져나오매 그가 그 심한 병으로 죽으니 백성이 그들의 조상들에게 분향하던 것 같이 그에게 분향하지 아니하였으며

20   여호람이 삼십이 세에 즉위하고 예루살렘에서 팔 년 동안 다스리다가 아끼는 자 없이 세상을 떠났으며 무리가 그를 다윗 성에 장사하였으나 열왕의 묘실에는 두지 아니하였더라

Reinado de Joram de Judá

(2 R. 8.16-24)

1Durmió Josafat con sus padres, y lo sepultaron con sus padres en la ciudad de David. Y reinó en su lugar Joram su hijo, 2quien tuvo por hermanos, hijos de Josafat, a Azarías, Jehiel, Zacarías, Azarías, Micael, y Sefatías. Todos estos fueron hijos de Josafat rey de Judá. 3Y su padre les había dado muchos regalos de oro y de plata, y cosas preciosas, y ciudades fortificadas en Judá; pero había dado el reino a Joram, porque él era el primogénito. 4Fue elevado, pues, Joram al reino de su padre; y luego que se hizo fuerte, mató a espada a todos sus hermanos, y también a algunos de los príncipes de Israel. 5Cuando comenzó a reinar era de treinta y dos años, y reinó ocho años en Jerusalén. 6Y anduvo en el camino de los reyes de Israel, como hizo la casa de Acab; porque tenía por mujer a la hija de Acab, e hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová. 7Mas Jehová no quiso destruir la casa de David, a causa del pacto que había hecho con David, y porque le había dicho que le daría lámpara a él y a sus hijos perpetuamente.

8En los días de este se rebeló Edom contra el dominio de Judá, y pusieron rey sobre sí. 9Entonces pasó Joram con sus príncipes, y todos sus carros; y se levantó de noche, y derrotó a los edomitas que le habían sitiado, y a todos los comandantes de sus carros. 10No obstante, Edom se libertó del dominio de Judá, hasta hoy. También en el mismo tiempo Libna se libertó de su dominio, por cuanto él había dejado a Jehová el Dios de sus padres.

11Además de esto, hizo lugares altos en los montes de Judá, e hizo que los moradores de Jerusalén fornicasen tras ellos, y a ello impelió a Judá. 12Y le llegó una carta del profeta Elías, que decía: Jehová el Dios de David tu padre ha dicho así: Por cuanto no has andado en los caminos de Josafat tu padre, ni en los caminos de Asa rey de Judá, 13sino que has andado en el camino de los reyes de Israel, y has hecho que fornicase Judá y los moradores de Jerusalén, como fornicó la casa de Acab; y además has dado muerte a tus hermanos, a la familia de tu padre, los cuales eran mejores que tú; 14he aquí Jehová herirá a tu pueblo de una gran plaga, y a tus hijos y a tus mujeres, y a todo cuanto tienes; 15y a ti con muchas enfermedades, con enfermedad de tus intestinos, hasta que se te salgan a causa de tu persistente enfermedad.

16Entonces Jehová despertó contra Joram la ira de los filisteos y de los árabes que estaban junto a los etíopes; 17y subieron contra Judá, e invadieron la tierra, y tomaron todos los bienes que hallaron en la casa del rey, y a sus hijos y a sus mujeres; y no le quedó más hijo sino solamente Joacaz el menor de sus hijos.

18Después de todo esto, Jehová lo hirió con una enfermedad incurable en los intestinos. 19Y aconteció que al pasar muchos días, al fin, al cabo de dos años, los intestinos se le salieron por la enfermedad, muriendo así de enfermedad muy penosa. Y no encendieron fuego en su honor, como lo habían hecho con sus padres. 20Cuando comenzó a reinar era de treinta y dos años, y reinó en Jerusalén ocho años; y murió sin que lo desearan más. Y lo sepultaron en la ciudad de David, pero no en los sepulcros de los reyes.

Jehoram Reigns in Judah

1 Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David, and Jehoram his son reigned in his place. 2He had brothers, the sons of Jehoshaphat: Azariah, Jehiel, Zechariah, Azariah, Michael, and Shephatiah; all these were the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel. 3Their father gave them great gifts of silver, gold, and valuable possessions, together with fortified cities in Judah, but he gave the kingdom to Jehoram, because he was the firstborn. 4When Jehoram had ascended the throne of his father and was established, he killed all his brothers with the sword, and also some of the princes of Israel. 5Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem. 6And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done, for the daughter of Ahab was his wife. And he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord. 7Yet the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and since he had promised to give a lamp to him and to his sons forever.

8In his days Edom revolted from the rule of Judah and set up a king of their own. 9Then Jehoram passed over with his commanders and all his chariots, and he rose by night and struck the Edomites who had surrounded him and his chariot commanders. 10So Edom revolted from the rule of Judah to this day. At that time Libnah also revolted from his rule, because he had forsaken the Lord, the God of his fathers.

11Moreover, he made high places in the hill country of Judah and led the inhabitants of Jerusalem into whoredom and made Judah go astray. 12And a letter came to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, “Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father, ‘Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, or in the ways of Asa king of Judah, 13but have walked in the way of the kings of Israel and have enticed Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem into whoredom, as the house of Ahab led Israel into whoredom, and also you have killed your brothers, of your father’s house, who were better than you, 14behold, the Lord will bring a great plague on your people, your children, your wives, and all your possessions, 15and you yourself will have a severe sickness with a disease of your bowels, until your bowels come out because of the disease, day by day.’”

16 And the Lord stirred up against Jehoram the anger of the Philistines and of the Arabians who are near the Ethiopians. 17And they came up against Judah and invaded it and carried away all the possessions they found that belonged to the king’s house, and also his sons and his wives, so that no son was left to him except Jehoahaz, his youngest son.

18And after all this the Lord struck him in his bowels with an incurable disease. 19In the course of time, at the end of two years, his bowels came out because of the disease, and he died in great agony. His people made no fire in his honor, like the fires made for his fathers. 20He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem. And he departed with no one’s regret. They buried him in the city of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.
