제 11 장

스마야가 여호와의 말씀을 전하다(왕상 12:21-24)

1   르호보암이 예루살렘에 이르러 유다와 베냐민 족속을 모으니 택한 용사가 십팔만 명이라 이스라엘과 싸워 나라를 회복하여 르호보암에게 돌리려 하더니

2   여호와의 말씀이 하나님의 사람 스마야에게 임하여 이르시되

3   솔로몬의 아들 유다 왕 르호보암과 유다와 베냐민에 속한 모든 이스라엘 무리에게 말하여 이르기를

4   여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시기를 너희는 올라가지 말라 너희 형제와 싸우지 말고 각기 집으로 돌아가라 이 일이 내게로 말미암아 난 것이라 하셨다 하라 하신지라 그들이 여호와의 말씀을 듣고 돌아가고 여로보암을 치러 가던 길에서 되돌아왔더라

르호보암이 방비하는 성읍들을 건축하다

5   르호보암이 예루살렘에 살면서 유다 땅에 방비하는 성읍들을 건축하였으니

6   곧 베들레헴과 에담과 드고아와

7   벧술과 소고와 아둘람과

8   가드와 마레사와 십과

9   아도라임과 라기스와 아세가와

10   소라와 아얄론과 헤브론이니 다 유다와 베냐민 땅에 있어 견고한 성읍들이라

11   르호보암이 그 방비하는 성읍들을 더욱 견고하게 하고 지휘관들을 그 가운데에 두고 양식과 기름과 포도주를 저축하고

12   모든 성읍에 방패와 창을 두어 매우 강하게 하니라 유다와 베냐민이 르호보암에게 속하였더라

제사장들과 레위 사람들이 유다로 오다

13   온 이스라엘의 제사장들과 레위 사람들이 그들의 모든 지방에서부터 르호보암에게 돌아오되

14   레위 사람들이 자기들의 마을들과 산업을 떠나 유다와 예루살렘에 이르렀으니 이는 여로보암과 그의 아들들이 그들을 해임하여 여호와께 제사장의 직분을 행하지 못하게 하고

15   여로보암이 여러 산당과 숫염소 우상과 자기가 만든 송아지 우상을 위하여 친히 제사장들을 세움이라

16   이스라엘 모든 지파 중에 마음을 굳게 하여 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와를 찾는 자들이 레위 사람들을 따라 예루살렘에 이르러 그들의 조상들의 하나님 여호와께 제사하고자 한지라

17   그러므로 삼 년 동안 유다 나라를 도와 솔로몬의 아들 르호보암을 강성하게 하였으니 이는 무리가 삼 년 동안을 다윗과 솔로몬의 길로 행하였음이더라

르호보암의 가족

18   르호보암이 다윗의 아들 여리못의 딸 마할랏을 아내로 삼았으니 마할랏은 이새의 아들 엘리압의 딸 아비하일의 소생이라

19   그가 아들들 곧 여우스와 스마랴와 사함을 낳았으며

20   그 후에 압살롬의 딸 마아가에게 장가 들었더니 그가 아비야와 앗대와 시사와 슬로밋을 낳았더라

21   르호보암은 아내 열여덟 명과 첩 예순 명을 거느려 아들 스물여덟 명과 딸 예순 명을 낳았으나 압살롬의 딸 마아가를 모든 처첩보다 더 사랑하여

22   르호보암은 마아가의 아들 아비야를 후계자로 세웠으니 이는 그의 형제들 가운데 지도자로 삼아 왕으로 세우고자 함이었더라

23   르호보암이 지혜롭게 행하여 그의 모든 아들을 유다와 베냐민의 온 땅 모든 견고한 성읍에 흩어 살게 하고 양식을 후히 주고 아내를 많이 구하여 주었더라

1Cuando vino Roboam a Jerusalén, reunió de la casa de Judá y de Benjamín a ciento ochenta mil hombres escogidos de guerra, para pelear contra Israel y hacer volver el reino a Roboam. 2Mas vino palabra de Jehová a Semaías varón de Dios, diciendo: 3Habla a Roboam hijo de Salomón, rey de Judá, y a todos los israelitas en Judá y Benjamín, diciéndoles: 4Así ha dicho Jehová: No subáis, ni peleéis contra vuestros hermanos; vuélvase cada uno a su casa, porque yo he hecho esto. Y ellos oyeron la palabra de Jehová y se volvieron, y no fueron contra Jeroboam.

Prosperidad de Roboam

5Y habitó Roboam en Jerusalén, y edificó ciudades para fortificar a Judá. 6Edificó Belén, Etam, Tecoa, 7Bet-sur, Soco, Adulam, 8Gat, Maresa, Zif, 9Adoraim, Laquis, Azeca, 10Zora, Ajalón y Hebrón, que eran ciudades fortificadas de Judá y Benjamín. 11Reforzó también las fortalezas, y puso en ellas capitanes, y provisiones, vino y aceite; 12y en todas las ciudades puso escudos y lanzas. Las fortificó, pues, en gran manera; y Judá y Benjamín le estaban sujetos.

13Y los sacerdotes y levitas que estaban en todo Israel, se juntaron a él desde todos los lugares donde vivían. 14Porque los levitas dejaban sus ejidos y sus posesiones, y venían a Judá y a Jerusalén; pues Jeroboam y sus hijos los excluyeron del ministerio de Jehová. 15Y él designó sus propios sacerdotes para los lugares altos, y para los demonios, y para los becerros que él había hecho. 16Tras aquellos acudieron también de todas las tribus de Israel los que habían puesto su corazón en buscar a Jehová Dios de Israel; y vinieron a Jerusalén para ofrecer sacrificios a Jehová, el Dios de sus padres. 17Así fortalecieron el reino de Judá, y confirmaron a Roboam hijo de Salomón, por tres años; porque tres años anduvieron en el camino de David y de Salomón.

18Y tomó Roboam por mujer a Mahalat hija de Jerimot, hijo de David y de Abihail hija de Eliab, hijo de Isaí, 19la cual le dio a luz estos hijos: Jeús, Semarías y Zaham. 20Después de ella tomó a Maaca hija de Absalón, la cual le dio a luz Abías, Atai, Ziza y Selomit. 21Pero Roboam amó a Maaca hija de Absalón sobre todas sus mujeres y concubinas; porque tomó dieciocho mujeres y sesenta concubinas, y engendró veintiocho hijos y sesenta hijas. 22Y puso Roboam a Abías hijo de Maaca por jefe y príncipe de sus hermanos, porque quería hacerle rey. 23Obró sagazmente, y esparció a todos sus hijos por todas las tierras de Judá y de Benjamín, y por todas las ciudades fortificadas, y les dio provisiones en abundancia, y muchas mujeres.

Rehoboam Secures His Kingdom

1 When Rehoboam came to Jerusalem, he assembled the house of Judah and Benjamin, 180,000 chosen warriors, to fight against Israel, to restore the kingdom to Rehoboam. 2But the word of the Lord came to Shemaiah the man of God: 3“Say to Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, 4‘Thus says the Lord, You shall not go up or fight against your relatives. Return every man to his home, for this thing is from me.’” So they listened to the word of the Lord and returned and did not go against Jeroboam.

5Rehoboam lived in Jerusalem, and he built cities for defense in Judah. 6He built Bethlehem, Etam, Tekoa, 7Beth-zur, Soco, Adullam, 8Gath, Mareshah, Ziph, 9Adoraim, Lachish, Azekah, 10Zorah, Aijalon, and Hebron, fortified cities that are in Judah and in Benjamin. 11He made the fortresses strong, and put commanders in them, and stores of food, oil, and wine. 12And he put shields and spears in all the cities and made them very strong. So he held Judah and Benjamin.

Priests and Levites Come to Jerusalem

13And the priests and the Levites who were in all Israel presented themselves to him from all places where they lived. 14For the Levites left their common lands and their holdings and came to Judah and Jerusalem, because Jeroboam and his sons cast them out from serving as priests of the Lord, 15and he appointed his own priests for the high places and for the goat idols and for the calves that he had made. 16And those who had set their hearts to seek the Lord God of Israel came after them from all the tribes of Israel to Jerusalem to sacrifice to the Lord, the God of their fathers. 17They strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and for three years they made Rehoboam the son of Solomon secure, for they walked for three years in the way of David and Solomon.

Rehoboam’s Family

18Rehoboam took as wife Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David, and of Abihail the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse, 19and she bore him sons, Jeush, Shemariah, and Zaham. 20After her he took Maacah the daughter of Absalom, who bore him Abijah, Attai, Ziza, and Shelomith. 21Rehoboam loved Maacah the daughter of Absalom above all his wives and concubines (he took eighteen wives and sixty concubines, and fathered twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters). 22And Rehoboam appointed Abijah the son of Maacah as chief prince among his brothers, for he intended to make him king. 23And he dealt wisely and distributed some of his sons through all the districts of Judah and Benjamin, in all the fortified cities, and he gave them abundant provisions and procured wives for them.
