제 15 장

아사의 개혁

1   하나님의 영이 오뎃의 아들 아사랴에게 임하시매

2   그가 나가서 아사를 맞아 이르되 아사와 및 유다와 베냐민의 무리들아 내 말을 들으라 너희가 여호와와 함께 하면 여호와께서 너희와 함께 하실지라 너희가 만일 그를 찾으면 그가 너희와 만나게 되시려니와 너희가 만일 그를 버리면 그도 너희를 버리시리라

3   이스라엘에는 참 신이 없고 가르치는 제사장도 없고 율법도 없은 지가 오래 되었으나

4   그들이 그 환난 때에 이스라엘 하나님 여호와께로 돌아가서 찾으매 그가 그들과 만나게 되셨나니

5   그 때에 온 땅의 모든 주민이 크게 요란하여 사람의 출입이 평안하지 못하며

6   이 나라와 저 나라가 서로 치고 이 성읍이 저 성읍과 또한 그러하여 피차 상한 바 되었나니 이는 하나님이 여러 가지 고난으로 요란하게 하셨음이라

7   그런즉 너희는 강하게 하라 너희의 손이 약하지 않게 하라 너희 행위에는 상급이 있음이라 하니라

8   아사가 이 말 곧 선지자 오뎃의 예언을 듣고 마음을 강하게 하여 가증한 물건들을 유다와 베냐민 온 땅에서 없애고 또 에브라임 산지에서 빼앗은 성읍들에서도 없애고 또 여호와의 낭실 앞에 있는 여호와의 제단을 재건하고

9   또 유다와 베냐민의 무리를 모으고 에브라임과 므낫세와 시므온 가운데에서 나와서 저희 중에 머물러 사는 자들을 모았으니 이는 이스라엘 사람들이 아사의 하나님 여호와께서 그와 함께 하심을 보고 아사에게로 돌아오는 자가 많았음이더라

10   아사 왕 제십오년 셋째 달에 그들이 예루살렘에 모이고

11   그 날에 노략하여 온 물건 중에서 소 칠백 마리와 양 칠천 마리로 여호와께 제사를 지내고

12   또 마음을 다하고 목숨을 다하여 조상들의 하나님 여호와를 찾기로 언약하고

13   이스라엘 하나님 여호와를 찾지 아니하는 자는 대소 남녀를 막론하고 죽이는 것이 마땅하다 하고

14   무리가 큰 소리로 외치며 피리와 나팔을 불어 여호와께 맹세하매

15   온 유다가 이 맹세를 기뻐한지라 무리가 마음을 다하여 맹세하고 뜻을 다하여 여호와를 찾았으므로 여호와께서도 그들을 만나 주시고 그들의 사방에 평안을 주셨더라

16   아사 왕의 어머니 마아가가 아세라의 가증한 목상을 만들었으므로 아사가 그의 태후의 자리를 폐하고 그의 우상을 찍고 빻아 기드론 시냇가에서 불살랐으니

17   산당은 이스라엘 중에서 제하지 아니하였으나 아사의 마음이 일평생 온전하였더라

18   그가 또 그의 아버지가 구별한 물건과 자기가 구별한 물건 곧 은과 금과 그릇들을 하나님의 전에 드렸더니

19   이 때부터 아사 왕 제삼십오년까지 다시는 전쟁이 없으니라

(1 R. 15.13-15)

1Vino el Espíritu de Dios sobre Azarías hijo de Obed, 2y salió al encuentro de Asa, y le dijo: Oídme, Asa y todo Judá y Benjamín: Jehová estará con vosotros, si vosotros estuviereis con él; y si le buscareis, será hallado de vosotros; mas si le dejareis, él también os dejará. 3Muchos días ha estado Israel sin verdadero Dios y sin sacerdote que enseñara, y sin ley; 4pero cuando en su tribulación se convirtieron a Jehová Dios de Israel, y le buscaron, él fue hallado de ellos. 5En aquellos tiempos no hubo paz, ni para el que entraba ni para el que salía, sino muchas aflicciones sobre todos los habitantes de las tierras. 6Y una gente destruía a otra, y una ciudad a otra ciudad; porque Dios los turbó con toda clase de calamidades. 7Pero esforzaos vosotros, y no desfallezcan vuestras manos, pues hay recompensa para vuestra obra.

8Cuando oyó Asa las palabras y la profecía del profeta Azarías hijo de Obed, cobró ánimo, y quitó los ídolos abominables de toda la tierra de Judá y de Benjamín, y de las ciudades que él había tomado en la parte montañosa de Efraín; y reparó el altar de Jehová que estaba delante del pórtico de Jehová. 9Después reunió a todo Judá y Benjamín, y con ellos los forasteros de Efraín, de Manasés y de Simeón; porque muchos de Israel se habían pasado a él, viendo que Jehová su Dios estaba con él. 10Se reunieron, pues, en Jerusalén, en el mes tercero del año decimoquinto del reinado de Asa. 11Y en aquel mismo día sacrificaron para Jehová, del botín que habían traído, setecientos bueyes y siete mil ovejas. 12Entonces prometieron solemnemente que buscarían a Jehová el Dios de sus padres, de todo su corazón y de toda su alma; 13y que cualquiera que no buscase a Jehová el Dios de Israel, muriese, grande o pequeño, hombre o mujer. 14Y juraron a Jehová con gran voz y júbilo, al son de trompetas y de bocinas. 15Todos los de Judá se alegraron de este juramento; porque de todo su corazón lo juraban, y de toda su voluntad lo buscaban, y fue hallado de ellos; y Jehová les dio paz por todas partes.

16Y aun a Maaca madre del rey Asa, él mismo la depuso de su dignidad, porque había hecho una imagen de Asera; y Asa destruyó la imagen, y la desmenuzó, y la quemó junto al torrente de Cedrón. 17Con todo esto, los lugares altos no eran quitados de Israel, aunque el corazón de Asa fue perfecto en todos sus días. 18Y trajo a la casa de Dios lo que su padre había dedicado, y lo que él había consagrado, plata, oro y utensilios. 19Y no hubo más guerra hasta los treinta y cinco años del reinado de Asa.

Asa’s Religious Reforms

1 The Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded, 2and he went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: The Lord is with you while you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you. 3For a long time Israel was without the true God, and without a teaching priest and without law, 4but when in their distress they turned to the Lord, the God of Israel, and sought him, he was found by them. 5In those times there was no peace to him who went out or to him who came in, for great disturbances afflicted all the inhabitants of the lands. 6They were broken in pieces. Nation was crushed by nation and city by city, for God troubled them with every sort of distress. 7But you, take courage! Do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded.”

8As soon as Asa heard these words, the prophecy of Azariah the son of Oded, he took courage and put away the detestable idols from all the land of Judah and Benjamin and from the cities that he had taken in the hill country of Ephraim, and he repaired the altar of the Lord that was in front of the vestibule of the house of the Lord. 9And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and those from Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon who were residing with them, for great numbers had deserted to him from Israel when they saw that the Lord his God was with him. 10They were gathered at Jerusalem in the third month of the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa. 11They sacrificed to the Lord on that day from the spoil that they had brought 700 oxen and 7,000 sheep. 12And they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and with all their soul, 13but that whoever would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, should be put to death, whether young or old, man or woman. 14They swore an oath to the Lord with a loud voice and with shouting and with trumpets and with horns. 15And all Judah rejoiced over the oath, for they had sworn with all their heart and had sought him with their whole desire, and he was found by them, and the Lord gave them rest all around.

16 Even Maacah, his mother, King Asa removed from being queen mother because she had made a detestable image for Asherah. Asa cut down her image, crushed it, and burned it at the brook Kidron. 17But the high places were not taken out of Israel. Nevertheless, the heart of Asa was wholly true all his days. 18And he brought into the house of God the sacred gifts of his father and his own sacred gifts, silver, and gold, and vessels. 19And there was no more war until the thirty-fifth year of the reign of Asa.
