제 23 장

아달랴에 대한 반역(왕하 11:4-16)

1 제칠년에 여호야다가 용기를 내어 백부장 곧 여로함의 아들 아사랴와 여호하난의 아들 이스마엘과 오벳의 아들 아사랴와 아다야의 아들 마아세야와 시그리의 아들 엘리사밧 등과 더불어 언약을 세우매

2 그들이 유다를 두루 다니며 유다 모든 고을에서 레위 사람들과 이스라엘 족장들을 모아 예루살렘에 이른지라

3 온 회중이 하나님의 전에서 왕과 언약을 세우매 여호야다가 무리에게 이르되 여호와께서 다윗의 자손에게 대하여 말씀하신 대로 왕자가 즉위하여야 할지니

4 이제 너희는 이와 같이 행하라 너희 제사장들과 레위 사람들 곧 안식일에 당번인 자들의 삼분의 일은 문을 지키고

5 삼분의 일은 왕궁에 있고 삼분의 일은 기초문에 있고 백성들은 여호와의 전 뜰에 있을지라

6 제사장들과 수종 드는 레위 사람들은 거룩한즉 여호와의 전에 들어오려니와 그 외의 다른 사람은 들어오지 못할 것이니 모든 백성은 여호와께 지켜야 할 바를 지킬지며

7 레위 사람들은 각각 손에 무기를 잡고 왕을 호위하며 다른 사람이 성전에 들어오거든 죽이고 왕이 출입할 때에 경호할지니라 하니

8 레위 사람들과 모든 유다 사람들이 제사장 여호야다가 명령한 모든 것을 준행하여 각기 수하에 안식일에 당번인 자와 안식일에 비번인 자들을 거느리고 있었으니 이는 제사장 여호야다가 비번인 자들을 보내지 아니함이더라

9 제사장 여호야다가 하나님의 전 안에 있는 다윗 왕의 창과 큰 방패와 작은 방패를 백부장들에게 주고

10 또 백성들에게 각각 손에 무기를 잡고 왕을 호위하되 성전 오른쪽에서부터 성전 왼쪽까지 제단과 성전 곁에 서게 하고

11 무리가 왕자를 인도해 내어 면류관을 씌우며 율법책을 주고 세워 왕으로 삼을새 여호야다와 그의 아들들이 그에게 기름을 붓고 이르기를 왕이여 만세수를 누리소서 하니라

12 아달랴가 백성들이 뛰며 왕을 찬송하는 소리를 듣고 여호와의 전에 들어가서 백성에게 이르러

13 보매 왕이 성전 문 기둥 곁에 섰고 지휘관들과 나팔수들이 왕의 곁에 모셔 서 있으며 그 땅의 모든 백성들이 즐거워하여 나팔을 불며 노래하는 자들은 주악하며 찬송을 인도하는지라 이에 아달랴가 그의 옷을 찢으며 외치되 반역이로다 반역이로다 하매

14 제사장 여호야다가 군대를 거느린 백부장들을 불러내어 이르되 반열 밖으로 몰아내라 그를 따르는 자는 칼로 죽이라 하니 제사장의 이 말은 여호와의 전에서는 그를 죽이지 말라 함이라

15 이에 무리가 그에게 길을 열어 주고 그가 왕궁 말문 어귀에 이를 때에 거기서 죽였더라

여호야다의 개혁(왕하 11:17-20)

16 여호야다가 자기와 모든 백성과 왕 사이에 언약을 세워 여호와의 백성이 되리라 한지라

17 온 국민이 바알의 신당으로 가서 그 신당을 부수고 그의 제단들과 형상들을 깨뜨리고 그 제단 앞에서 바알의 제사장 맛단을 죽이니라

18 여호야다가 여호와의 전의 직원들을 세워 레위 제사장의 수하에 맡기니 이들은 다윗이 전에 그들의 반열을 나누어서 여호와의 전에서 모세의 율법에 기록한 대로 여호와께 번제를 드리며 다윗이 정한 규례대로 즐거이 부르고 노래하게 하였던 자들이더라

19 또 문지기를 여호와의 전 여러 문에 두어 무슨 일에든지 부정한 모든 자는 들어오지 못하게 하고

20 백부장들과 존귀한 자들과 백성의 방백들과 그 땅의 모든 백성을 거느리고 왕을 인도하여 여호와의 전에서 내려와 윗문으로부터 왕궁에 이르러 왕을 나라 보좌에 앉히매

21 그 땅의 모든 백성이 즐거워하고 성중이 평온하더라 아달랴를 무리가 칼로 죽였었더라

1En el séptimo año se animó Joiada, y tomó consigo en alianza a los jefes de centenas Azarías hijo de Jeroham, Ismael hijo de Johanán, Azarías hijo de Obed, Maasías hijo de Adaía, y Elisafat hijo de Zicri, 2los cuales recorrieron el país de Judá, y reunieron a los levitas de todas las ciudades de Judá y a los príncipes de las familias de Israel, y vinieron a Jerusalén. 3Y toda la multitud hizo pacto con el rey en la casa de Dios. Y Joiada les dijo: He aquí el hijo del rey, el cual reinará, como Jehová ha dicho respecto a los hijos de David. 4Ahora haced esto: una tercera parte de vosotros, los que entran el día de reposo, estarán de porteros con los sacerdotes y los levitas. 5Otra tercera parte, a la casa del rey; y la otra tercera parte, a la puerta del Cimiento; y todo el pueblo estará en los patios de la casa de Jehová. 6Y ninguno entre en la casa de Jehová, sino los sacerdotes y levitas que ministran; estos entrarán, porque están consagrados; y todo el pueblo hará guardia delante de Jehová. 7Y los levitas rodearán al rey por todas partes, y cada uno tendrá sus armas en la mano; cualquiera que entre en la casa, que muera; y estaréis con el rey cuando entre y cuando salga.

8Y los levitas y todo Judá lo hicieron todo como lo había mandado el sacerdote Joiada; y tomó cada jefe a los suyos, los que entraban el día de reposo, y los que salían el día de reposo; porque el sacerdote Joiada no dio licencia a las compañías. 9Dio también el sacerdote Joiada a los jefes de centenas las lanzas, los paveses y los escudos que habían sido del rey David, y que estaban en la casa de Dios; 10y puso en orden a todo el pueblo, teniendo cada uno su espada en la mano, desde el rincón derecho del templo hasta el izquierdo, hacia el altar y la casa, alrededor del rey por todas partes. 11Entonces sacaron al hijo del rey, y le pusieron la corona y el testimonio, y lo proclamaron rey; y Joiada y sus hijos lo ungieron, diciendo luego: ¡Viva el rey!

12Cuando Atalía oyó el estruendo de la gente que corría, y de los que aclamaban al rey, vino al pueblo a la casa de Jehová; 13y mirando, vio al rey que estaba junto a su columna a la entrada, y los príncipes y los trompeteros junto al rey, y que todo el pueblo de la tierra mostraba alegría, y sonaba bocinas, y los cantores con instrumentos de música dirigían la alabanza. Entonces Atalía rasgó sus vestidos, y dijo: ¡Traición! ¡Traición! 14Pero el sacerdote Joiada mandó que salieran los jefes de centenas del ejército, y les dijo: Sacadla fuera del recinto, y al que la siguiere, matadlo a filo de espada; porque el sacerdote había mandado que no la matasen en la casa de Jehová. 15Ellos, pues, le echaron mano, y luego que ella hubo pasado la entrada de la puerta de los caballos de la casa del rey, allí la mataron.

16Y Joiada hizo pacto entre sí y todo el pueblo y el rey, que serían pueblo de Jehová. 17Después de esto entró todo el pueblo en el templo de Baal, y lo derribaron, y también sus altares; e hicieron pedazos sus imágenes, y mataron delante de los altares a Matán, sacerdote de Baal. 18Luego ordenó Joiada los oficios en la casa de Jehová, bajo la mano de los sacerdotes y levitas, según David los había distribuido en la casa de Jehová, para ofrecer a Jehová los holocaustos, como está escrito en la ley de Moisés, con gozo y con cánticos, conforme a la disposición de David. 19Puso también porteros a las puertas de la casa de Jehová, para que por ninguna vía entrase ningún inmundo. 20Llamó después a los jefes de centenas, y a los principales, a los que gobernaban el pueblo y a todo el pueblo de la tierra, para conducir al rey desde la casa de Jehová; y cuando llegaron a la mitad de la puerta mayor de la casa del rey, sentaron al rey sobre el trono del reino. 21Y se regocijó todo el pueblo del país; y la ciudad estuvo tranquila, después que mataron a Atalía a filo de espada.

Joash Made King

1 But in the seventh year Jehoiada took courage and entered into a covenant with the commanders of hundreds, Azariah the son of Jeroham, Ishmael the son of Jehohanan, Azariah the son of Obed, Maaseiah the son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat the son of Zichri. 2And they went about through Judah and gathered the Levites from all the cities of Judah, and the heads of fathers’ houses of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem. 3And all the assembly made a covenant with the king in the house of God. And Jehoiada said to them, “Behold, the king’s son! Let him reign, as the Lord spoke concerning the sons of David. 4This is the thing that you shall do: of you priests and Levites who come off duty on the Sabbath, one third shall be gatekeepers, 5and one third shall be at the king’s house and one third at the Gate of the Foundation. And all the people shall be in the courts of the house of the Lord. 6Let no one enter the house of the Lord except the priests and ministering Levites. They may enter, for they are holy, but all the people shall keep the charge of the Lord. 7The Levites shall surround the king, each with his weapons in his hand. And whoever enters the house shall be put to death. Be with the king when he comes in and when he goes out.”

8The Levites and all Judah did according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded, and they each brought his men, who were to go off duty on the Sabbath, with those who were to come on duty on the Sabbath, for Jehoiada the priest did not dismiss the divisions. 9And Jehoiada the priest gave to the captains the spears and the large and small shields that had been King David’s, which were in the house of God. 10And he set all the people as a guard for the king, every man with his weapon in his hand, from the south side of the house to the north side of the house, around the altar and the house. 11Then they brought out the king’s son and put the crown on him and gave him the testimony. And they proclaimed him king, and Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and they said, “Long live the king.”

Athaliah Executed

12When Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she went into the house of the Lord to the people. 13And when she looked, there was the king standing by his pillar at the entrance, and the captains and the trumpeters beside the king, and all the people of the land rejoicing and blowing trumpets, and the singers with their musical instruments leading in the celebration. And Athaliah tore her clothes and cried, “Treason! Treason!” 14Then Jehoiada the priest brought out the captains who were set over the army, saying to them, “Bring her out between the ranks, and anyone who follows her is to be put to death with the sword.” For the priest said, “Do not put her to death in the house of the Lord.” 15So they laid hands on her, and she went into the entrance of the horse gate of the king’s house, and they put her to death there.

Jehoiada’s Reforms

16And Jehoiada made a covenant between himself and all the people and the king that they should be the Lord’s people. 17Then all the people went to the house of Baal and tore it down; his altars and his images they broke in pieces, and they killed Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. 18And Jehoiada posted watchmen for the house of the Lord under the direction of the Levitical priests and the Levites whom David had organized to be in charge of the house of the Lord, to offer burnt offerings to the Lord, as it is written in the Law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing, according to the order of David. 19He stationed the gatekeepers at the gates of the house of the Lord so that no one should enter who was in any way unclean. 20And he took the captains, the nobles, the governors of the people, and all the people of the land, and they brought the king down from the house of the Lord, marching through the upper gate to the king’s house. And they set the king on the royal throne. 21So all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was quiet after Athaliah had been put to death with the sword.
