제 26 장

유다 왕 웃시야 (왕하 14:21-22; 15:1-7)

1   유다 온 백성이 나이가 십육 세 된 웃시야를 세워 그의 아버지 아마샤를 대신하여 왕으로 삼으니

2   아마샤 왕이 그의 열조들의 묘실에 누운 후에 웃시야가 엘롯을 건축하여 유다에 돌렸더라

3   웃시야가 왕위에 오를 때에 나이가 십육 세라 예루살렘에서 오십이 년 간 다스리니라 그의 어머니의 이름은 여골리아요 예루살렘 사람이더라

4   웃시야가 그의 아버지 아마샤의 모든 행위대로 여호와 보시기에 정직하게 행하며

5   하나님의 묵시를 밝히 아는 스가랴가 사는 날에 하나님을 찾았고 그가 여호와를 찾을 동안에는 하나님이 형통하게 하셨더라

6   웃시야가 나가서 블레셋 사람들과 싸우고 가드 성벽과 야브네 성벽과 아스돗 성벽을 헐고 아스돗 땅과 블레셋 사람들 가운데에 성읍들을 건축하매

7   하나님이 그를 도우사 블레셋 사람들과 구르바알에 거주하는 아라비아 사람들과 마온 사람들을 치게 하신지라

8   암몬 사람들이 웃시야에게 조공을 바치매 웃시야가 매우 강성하여 이름이 애굽 변방까지 퍼졌더라

9   웃시야가 예루살렘에서 성 모퉁이 문과 골짜기 문과 성굽이에 망대를 세워 견고하게 하고

10   또 광야에 망대를 세우고 물 웅덩이를 많이 파고 고원과 평지에 가축을 많이 길렀으며 또 여러 산과 좋은 밭에 농부와 포도원을 다스리는 자들을 두었으니 농사를 좋아함이었더라

11   웃시야에게 또 싸우는 군사가 있으니 서기관 여이엘과 병영장 마아세야가 직접 조사한 수효대로 왕의 지휘관 하나냐의 휘하에 속하여 떼를 지어 나가서 싸우는 자라

12   족장의 총수가 이천육백 명이니 모두 큰 용사요

13   그의 휘하의 군대가 삼십만 칠천오백 명이라 건장하고 싸움에 능하여 왕을 도와 적을 치는 자이며

14   웃시야가 그의 온 군대를 위하여 방패와 창과 투구와 갑옷과 활과 물매 돌을 준비하고

15   또 예루살렘에서 재주 있는 사람들에게 무기를 고안하게 하여 망대와 성곽 위에 두어 화살과 큰 돌을 쏘고 던지게 하였으니 그의 이름이 멀리 퍼짐은 기이한 도우심을 얻어 강성하여짐이었더라

웃시야에게 나병이 생기다

16   그가 강성하여지매 그의 마음이 교만하여 악을 행하여 그의 하나님 여호와께 범죄하되 곧 여호와의 성전에 들어가서 향단에 분향하려 한지라

17   제사장 아사랴가 여호와의 용맹한 제사장 팔십 명을 데리고 그의 뒤를 따라 들어가서

18   웃시야 왕 곁에 서서 그에게 이르되 웃시야여 여호와께 분향하는 일은 왕이 할 바가 아니요 오직 분향하기 위하여 구별함을 받은 아론의 자손 제사장들이 할 바니 성소에서 나가소서 왕이 범죄하였으니 하나님 여호와에게서 영광을 얻지 못하리이다

19   웃시야가 손으로 향로를 잡고 분향하려 하다가 화를 내니 그가 제사장에게 화를 낼 때에 여호와의 전 안 향단 곁 제사장들 앞에서 그의 이마에 나병이 생긴지라

20   대제사장 아사랴와 모든 제사장이 왕의 이마에 나병이 생겼음을 보고 성전에서 급히 쫓아내고 여호와께서 치시므로 왕도 속히 나가니라

21   웃시야 왕이 죽는 날까지 나병환자가 되었고 나병환자가 되매 여호와의 전에서 끊어져 별궁에 살았으므로 그의 아들 요담이 왕궁을 관리하며 백성을 다스렸더라

22   웃시야의 남은 시종 행적은 아모스의 아들 선지자 이사야가 기록하였더라

23   웃시야가 그의 조상들과 함께 누우매 그는 나병환자라 하여 왕들의 묘실에 접한 땅 곧 그의 조상들의 곁에 장사하니라 그의 아들 요담이 대신하여 왕이 되니라

Reinado de Uzías

(2 R. 15.1-7)

1Entonces todo el pueblo de Judá tomó a Uzías, el cual tenía dieciséis años de edad, y lo pusieron por rey en lugar de Amasías su padre. 2Uzías edificó a Elot, y la restituyó a Judá después que el rey Amasías durmió con sus padres. 3De dieciséis años era Uzías cuando comenzó a reinar, y cincuenta y dos años reinó en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre fue Jecolías, de Jerusalén. 4E hizo lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová, conforme a todas las cosas que había hecho Amasías su padre. 5Y persistió en buscar a Dios en los días de Zacarías, entendido en visiones de Dios; y en estos días en que buscó a Jehová, él le prosperó.

6Y salió y peleó contra los filisteos, y rompió el muro de Gat, y el muro de Jabnia, y el muro de Asdod; y edificó ciudades en Asdod, y en la tierra de los filisteos. 7Dios le dio ayuda contra los filisteos, y contra los árabes que habitaban en Gur-baal, y contra los amonitas. 8Y dieron los amonitas presentes a Uzías, y se divulgó su fama hasta la frontera de Egipto; porque se había hecho altamente poderoso. 9Edificó también Uzías torres en Jerusalén, junto a la puerta del ángulo, y junto a la puerta del valle, y junto a las esquinas; y las fortificó.

10Asimismo edificó torres en el desierto, y abrió muchas cisternas; porque tuvo muchos ganados, así en la Sefela como en las vegas, y viñas y labranzas, así en los montes como en los llanos fértiles; porque era amigo de la agricultura. 11Tuvo también Uzías un ejército de guerreros, los cuales salían a la guerra en divisiones, de acuerdo con la lista hecha por mano de Jeiel escriba, y de Maasías gobernador, y de Hananías, uno de los jefes del rey. 12Todo el número de los jefes de familia, valientes y esforzados, era dos mil seiscientos. 13Y bajo la mano de estos estaba el ejército de guerra, de trescientos siete mil quinientos guerreros poderosos y fuertes, para ayudar al rey contra los enemigos. 14Y Uzías preparó para todo el ejército escudos, lanzas, yelmos, coseletes, arcos, y hondas para tirar piedras. 15E hizo en Jerusalén máquinas inventadas por ingenieros, para que estuviesen en las torres y en los baluartes, para arrojar saetas y grandes piedras. Y su fama se extendió lejos, porque fue ayudado maravillosamente, hasta hacerse poderoso.

16Mas cuando ya era fuerte, su corazón se enalteció para su ruina; porque se rebeló contra Jehová su Dios, entrando en el templo de Jehová para quemar incienso en el altar del incienso. 17Y entró tras él el sacerdote Azarías, y con él ochenta sacerdotes de Jehová, varones valientes. 18Y se pusieron contra el rey Uzías, y le dijeron: No te corresponde a ti, oh Uzías, el quemar incienso a Jehová, sino a los sacerdotes hijos de Aarón, que son consagrados para quemarlo. Sal del santuario, porque has prevaricado, y no te será para gloria delante de Jehová Dios. 19Entonces Uzías, teniendo en la mano un incensario para ofrecer incienso, se llenó de ira; y en su ira contra los sacerdotes, la lepra le brotó en la frente, delante de los sacerdotes en la casa de Jehová, junto al altar del incienso. 20Y le miró el sumo sacerdote Azarías, y todos los sacerdotes, y he aquí la lepra estaba en su frente; y le hicieron salir apresuradamente de aquel lugar; y él también se dio prisa a salir, porque Jehová lo había herido. 21Así el rey Uzías fue leproso hasta el día de su muerte, y habitó leproso en una casa apartada, por lo cual fue excluido de la casa de Jehová; y Jotam su hijo tuvo cargo de la casa real, gobernando al pueblo de la tierra.

22Los demás hechos de Uzías, primeros y postreros, fueron escritos por el profeta Isaías, hijo de Amoz. 23Y durmió Uzías con sus padres, y lo sepultaron con sus padres en el campo de los sepulcros reales; porque dijeron: Leproso es. Y reinó Jotam su hijo en lugar suyo.

Uzziah Reigns in Judah

1And all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah. 2He built Eloth and restored it to Judah, after the king slept with his fathers. 3Uzziah was sixteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jecoliah of Jerusalem. 4And he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, according to all that his father Amaziah had done. 5He set himself to seek God in the days of Zechariah, who instructed him in the fear of God, and as long as he sought the Lord, God made him prosper.

6He went out and made war against the Philistines and broke through the wall of Gath and the wall of Jabneh and the wall of Ashdod, and he built cities in the territory of Ashdod and elsewhere among the Philistines. 7God helped him against the Philistines and against the Arabians who lived in Gurbaal and against the Meunites. 8The Ammonites paid tribute to Uzziah, and his fame spread even to the border of Egypt, for he became very strong. 9Moreover, Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the Corner Gate and at the Valley Gate and at the Angle, and fortified them. 10And he built towers in the wilderness and cut out many cisterns, for he had large herds, both in the Shephelah and in the plain, and he had farmers and vinedressers in the hills and in the fertile lands, for he loved the soil. 11Moreover, Uzziah had an army of soldiers, fit for war, in divisions according to the numbers in the muster made by Jeiel the secretary and Maaseiah the officer, under the direction of Hananiah, one of the king’s commanders. 12The whole number of the heads of fathers’ houses of mighty men of valor was 2,600. 13Under their command was an army of 307,500, who could make war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy. 14And Uzziah prepared for all the army shields, spears, helmets, coats of mail, bows, and stones for slinging. 15In Jerusalem he made machines, invented by skillful men, to be on the towers and the corners, to shoot arrows and great stones. And his fame spread far, for he was marvelously helped, till he was strong.

Uzziah’s Pride and Punishment

16But when he was strong, he grew proud, to his destruction. For he was unfaithful to the Lord his God and entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense. 17But Azariah the priest went in after him, with eighty priests of the Lord who were men of valor, 18and they withstood King Uzziah and said to him, “It is not for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the Lord, but for the priests, the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense. Go out of the sanctuary, for you have done wrong, and it will bring you no honor from the Lord God.” 19Then Uzziah was angry. Now he had a censer in his hand to burn incense, and when he became angry with the priests, leprosy broke out on his forehead in the presence of the priests in the house of the Lord, by the altar of incense. 20And Azariah the chief priest and all the priests looked at him, and behold, he was leprous in his forehead! And they rushed him out quickly, and he himself hurried to go out, because the Lord had struck him. 21And King Uzziah was a leper to the day of his death, and being a leper lived in a separate house, for he was excluded from the house of the Lord. And Jotham his son was over the king’s household, governing the people of the land.

22Now the rest of the acts of Uzziah, from first to last, Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz wrote. 23And Uzziah slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the burial field that belonged to the kings, for they said, “He is a leper.” And Jotham his son reigned in his place.
