제 2 장

성전 건축을 준비하다(왕상 5:1-18)

1   솔로몬이 여호와의 이름을 위하여 성전을 건축하고 자기 왕위를 위하여 궁궐 건축하기를 결심하니라

2   솔로몬이 이에 짐꾼 칠만 명과 산에서 돌을 떠낼 자 팔만 명과 일을 감독할 자 삼천육백 명을 뽑고

3   솔로몬이 사절을 두로 왕 후람에게 보내어 이르되 당신이 전에 내 아버지 다윗에게 백향목을 보내어 그가 거주하실 궁궐을 건축하게 한 것 같이 내게도 그리 하소서

4   이제 내가 나의 하나님 여호와의 이름을 위하여 성전을 건축하여 구별하여 드리고 주 앞에서 향 재료를 사르며 항상 떡을 차려 놓으며 안식일과 초하루와 우리 하나님 여호와의 절기에 아침 저녁으로 번제를 드리려 하오니 이는 이스라엘의 영원한 규례니이다

5   내가 건축하고자 하는 성전은 크니 우리 하나님은 모든 신들보다 크심이라

6   누가 능히 하나님을 위하여 성전을 건축하리요 하늘과 하늘들의 하늘이라도 주를 용납하지 못하겠거든 내가 누구이기에 어찌 능히 그를 위하여 성전을 건축하리요 그 앞에 분향하려 할 따름이니이다

7   이제 청하건대 당신은 금, 은, 동, 철로 제조하며 자색 홍색 청색 실로 직조하며 또 아로새길 줄 아는 재주 있는 사람 하나를 내게 보내어 내 아버지 다윗이 유다와 예루살렘에서 준비한 나의 재주 있는 사람들과 함께 일하게 하고

8   또 레바논에서 백향목과 잣나무와 백단목을 내게로 보내소서 내가 알거니와 당신의 종은 레바논에서 벌목을 잘 하나니 내 종들이 당신의 종들을 도울지라

9   이와 같이 나를 위하여 재목을 많이 준비하게 하소서 내가 건축하려 하는 성전은 크고 화려할 것이니이다

10   내가 당신의 벌목하는 종들에게 찧은 밀 이만 고르와 보리 이만 고르와 포도주 이만 밧과 기름 이만 밧을 주리이다 하였더라

11   두로 왕 후람이 솔로몬에게 답장하여 이르되 여호와께서 자기 백성을 사랑하시므로 당신을 세워 그들의 왕을 삼으셨도다

12   후람이 또 이르되 천지를 지으신 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와는 송축을 받으실지로다 다윗 왕에게 지혜로운 아들을 주시고 명철과 총명을 주시사 능히 여호와를 위하여 성전을 건축하고 자기 왕위를 위하여 궁궐을 건축하게 하시도다

13   내가 이제 재주 있고 총명한 사람을 보내오니 전에 내 아버지 후람에게 속하였던 자라

14   이 사람은 단의 여자들 중 한 여인의 아들이요 그의 아버지는 두로 사람이라 능히 금, 은, 동, 철과 돌과 나무와 자색 청색 홍색 실과 가는 베로 일을 잘하며 또 모든 아로새기는 일에 익숙하고 모든 기묘한 양식에 능한 자이니 그에게 당신의 재주 있는 사람들과 당신의 아버지 내 주 다윗의 재주 있는 사람들과 함께 일하게 하소서

15   내 주께서 말씀하신 밀과 보리와 기름과 포도주는 주의 종들에게 보내소서

16   우리가 레바논에서 당신이 쓰실 만큼 벌목하여 떼를 엮어 바다에 띄워 욥바로 보내리니 당신은 재목들을 예루살렘으로 올리소서 하였더라

성전 건축 시작(왕상 6:1-38)

17   전에 솔로몬의 아버지 다윗이 이스라엘 땅에 사는 이방 사람들을 조사하였더니 이제 솔로몬이 다시 조사하매 모두 십오만 삼천육백 명이라

18   그 중에서 칠만 명은 짐꾼이 되게 하였고 팔만 명은 산에서 벌목하게 하였고 삼천육백 명은 감독으로 삼아 백성들에게 일을 시키게 하였더라

Pacto de Salomón con Hiram

(1 R. 5.1-18; 7.13-14)

1Determinó, pues, Salomón edificar casa al nombre de Jehová, y casa para su reino. 2Y designó Salomón setenta mil hombres que llevasen cargas, y ochenta mil hombres que cortasen en los montes, y tres mil seiscientos que los vigilasen. 3Y envió a decir Salomón a Hiram rey de Tiro: Haz conmigo como hiciste con David mi padre, enviándole cedros para que edificara para sí casa en que morase. 4He aquí, yo tengo que edificar casa al nombre de Jehová mi Dios, para consagrársela, para quemar incienso aromático delante de él, y para la colocación continua de los panes de la proposición, y para holocaustos a mañana y tarde, en los días de reposo, nuevas lunas, y festividades de Jehová nuestro Dios; lo cual ha de ser perpetuo en Israel. 5Y la casa que tengo que edificar, ha de ser grande; porque el Dios nuestro es grande sobre todos los dioses. 6Mas ¿quién será capaz de edificarle casa, siendo que los cielos y los cielos de los cielos no pueden contenerlo? ¿Quién, pues, soy yo, para que le edifique casa, sino tan solo para quemar incienso delante de él? 7Envíame, pues, ahora un hombre hábil que sepa trabajar en oro, en plata, en bronce, en hierro, en púrpura, en grana y en azul, y que sepa esculpir con los maestros que están conmigo en Judá y en Jerusalén, los cuales dispuso mi padre. 8Envíame también madera del Líbano: cedro, ciprés y sándalo; porque yo sé que tus siervos saben cortar madera en el Líbano; y he aquí, mis siervos irán con los tuyos, 9para que me preparen mucha madera, porque la casa que tengo que edificar ha de ser grande y portentosa. 10Y he aquí, para los trabajadores tus siervos, cortadores de madera, he dado veinte mil coros de trigo en grano, veinte mil coros de cebada, veinte mil batos de vino, y veinte mil batos de aceite.

11Entonces Hiram rey de Tiro respondió por escrito que envió a Salomón: Porque Jehová amó a su pueblo, te ha puesto por rey sobre ellos. 12Además decía Hiram: Bendito sea Jehová el Dios de Israel, que hizo los cielos y la tierra, y que dio al rey David un hijo sabio, entendido, cuerdo y prudente, que edifique casa a Jehová, y casa para su reino.

13Yo, pues, te he enviado un hombre hábil y entendido, Hiram-abi, 14hijo de una mujer de las hijas de Dan, mas su padre fue de Tiro; el cual sabe trabajar en oro, plata, bronce y hierro, en piedra y en madera, en púrpura y en azul, en lino y en carmesí; asimismo sabe esculpir toda clase de figuras, y sacar toda forma de diseño que se le pida, con tus hombres peritos, y con los de mi señor David tu padre. 15Ahora, pues, envíe mi señor a sus siervos el trigo y cebada, y aceite y vino, que ha dicho; 16y nosotros cortaremos en el Líbano la madera que necesites, y te la traeremos en balsas por el mar hasta Jope, y tú la harás llevar hasta Jerusalén.

17Y contó Salomón todos los hombres extranjeros que había en la tierra de Israel, después de haberlos ya contado David su padre, y fueron hallados ciento cincuenta y tres mil seiscientos. 18Y señaló de ellos setenta mil para llevar cargas, y ochenta mil canteros en la montaña, y tres mil seiscientos por capataces para hacer trabajar al pueblo.

Preparing to Build the Temple

1 Now Solomon purposed to build a temple for the name of the Lord, and a royal palace for himself. 2 And Solomon assigned 70,000 men to bear burdens and 80,000 to quarry in the hill country, and 3,600 to oversee them. 3And Solomon sent word to Hiram the king of Tyre: “As you dealt with David my father and sent him cedar to build himself a house to dwell in, so deal with me. 4Behold, I am about to build a house for the name of the Lord my God and dedicate it to him for the burning of incense of sweet spices before him, and for the regular arrangement of the showbread, and for burnt offerings morning and evening, on the Sabbaths and the new moons and the appointed feasts of the Lord our God, as ordained forever for Israel. 5The house that I am to build will be great, for our God is greater than all gods. 6But who is able to build him a house, since heaven, even highest heaven, cannot contain him? Who am I to build a house for him, except as a place to make offerings before him? 7So now send me a man skilled to work in gold, silver, bronze, and iron, and in purple, crimson, and blue fabrics, trained also in engraving, to be with the skilled workers who are with me in Judah and Jerusalem, whom David my father provided. 8Send me also cedar, cypress, and algum timber from Lebanon, for I know that your servants know how to cut timber in Lebanon. And my servants will be with your servants, 9to prepare timber for me in abundance, for the house I am to build will be great and wonderful. 10I will give for your servants, the woodsmen who cut timber, 20,000 cors of crushed wheat, 20,000 cors of barley, 20,000 baths of wine, and 20,000 baths of oil.”

11Then Hiram the king of Tyre answered in a letter that he sent to Solomon, “Because the Lord loves his people, he has made you king over them.” 12Hiram also said, “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who made heaven and earth, who has given King David a wise son, who has discretion and understanding, who will build a temple for the Lord and a royal palace for himself.

13“Now I have sent a skilled man, who has understanding, Huram-abi, 14the son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, and his father was a man of Tyre. He is trained to work in gold, silver, bronze, iron, stone, and wood, and in purple, blue, and crimson fabrics and fine linen, and to do all sorts of engraving and execute any design that may be assigned him, with your craftsmen, the craftsmen of my lord, David your father. 15Now therefore the wheat and barley, oil and wine, of which my lord has spoken, let him send to his servants. 16And we will cut whatever timber you need from Lebanon and bring it to you in rafts by sea to Joppa, so that you may take it up to Jerusalem.”

17Then Solomon counted all the resident aliens who were in the land of Israel, after the census of them that David his father had taken, and there were found 153,600. 18Seventy thousand of them he assigned to bear burdens, 80,000 to quarry in the hill country, and 3,600 as overseers to make the people work.
