제 9 장

스바 여왕이 솔로몬을 찾아오다(왕상 10:1-13)

1   스바 여왕이 솔로몬의 명성을 듣고 와서 어려운 질문으로 솔로몬을 시험하고자 하여 예루살렘에 이르니 매우 많은 시종들을 거느리고 향품과 많은 금과 보석을 낙타에 실었더라 그가 솔로몬에게 나아와 자기 마음에 있는 것을 다 말하매

2   솔로몬이 그가 묻는 말에 다 대답하였으니 솔로몬이 몰라서 대답하지 못한 것이 없었더라

3   스바 여왕이 솔로몬의 지혜와 그가 건축한 궁과

4   그의 상의 음식물과 그의 신하들의 좌석과 그의 신하들이 도열한 것과 그들의 공복과 술 관원들과 그들의 공복과 여호와의 전에 올라가는 층계를 보고 정신이 황홀하여

5   왕께 말하되 내가 내 나라에서 당신의 행위와 당신의 지혜에 대하여 들은 소문이 진실하도다

6   내가 그 말들을 믿지 아니하였더니 이제 와서 본즉 당신의 지혜가 크다 한 말이 그 절반도 못 되니 당신은 내가 들은 소문보다 더하도다

7   복되도다 당신의 사람들이여, 복되도다 당신의 이 신하들이여, 항상 당신 앞에 서서 당신의 지혜를 들음이로다

8   당신의 하나님 여호와를 송축할지로다 하나님이 당신을 기뻐하시고 그 자리에 올리사 당신의 하나님 여호와를 위하여 왕이 되게 하셨도다 당신의 하나님이 이스라엘을 사랑하사 영원히 견고하게 하시려고 당신을 세워 그들의 왕으로 삼아 정의와 공의를 행하게 하셨도다 하고

9   이에 그가 금 백이십 달란트와 매우 많은 향품과 보석을 왕께 드렸으니 스바 여왕이 솔로몬 왕께 드린 향품 같은 것이 전에는 없었더라

10   (후람의 신하들과 솔로몬의 신하들도 오빌에서 금을 실어 올 때에 백단목과 보석을 가져온지라

11   왕이 백단목으로 여호와의 전과 왕궁의 층대를 만들고 또 노래하는 자들을 위하여 수금과 비파를 만들었으니 이같은 것들은 유다 땅에서 전에는 보지 못하였더라)

12   솔로몬 왕이 스바 여왕이 가져온 대로 답례하고 그 외에 또 그의 소원대로 구하는 것을 모두 주니 이에 그가 그의 신하들과 더불어 본국으로 돌아갔더라

솔로몬의 재산과 지혜(왕상 10:14-25)

13   솔로몬의 세입금의 무게가 금 육백육십육 달란트요

14   그 외에 또 무역상과 객상들이 가져온 것이 있고 아라비아 왕들과 그 나라 방백들도 금과 은을 솔로몬에게 가져온지라

15   솔로몬 왕이 쳐서 늘인 금으로 큰 방패 이백 개를 만들었으니 방패 하나에 든 금이 육백 세겔이며

16   또 쳐서 늘인 금으로 작은 방패 삼백 개를 만들었으니 방패 하나에 든 금이 삼백 세겔이라 왕이 이것들을 레바논 나무 궁에 두었더라

17   왕이 또 상아로 큰 보좌를 만들고 순금으로 입혔으니

18   그 보좌에는 여섯 층계와 금 발판이 있어 보좌와 이어졌고 앉는 자리 양쪽에는 팔걸이가 있고 팔걸이 곁에는 사자가 하나씩 섰으며

19   또 열두 사자가 있어 그 여섯 층계 양쪽에 섰으니 어떤 나라에도 이같이 만든 것이 없었더라

20   솔로몬 왕이 마시는 그릇은 다 금이요 레바논 나무 궁의 그릇들도 다 순금이라 솔로몬의 시대에 은을 귀하게 여기지 아니함은

21   왕의 배들이 후람의 종들과 함께 다시스로 다니며 그 배들이 삼 년에 일 차씩 다시스의 금과 은과 상아와 원숭이와 공작을 실어옴이더라

22   솔로몬 왕의 재산과 지혜가 천하의 모든 왕들보다 큰지라

23   천하의 열왕이 하나님께서 솔로몬의 마음에 주신 지혜를 들으며 그의 얼굴을 보기 원하여

24   각기 예물을 가지고 왔으니 곧 은 그릇과 금 그릇과 의복과 갑옷과 향품과 말과 노새라 해마다 정한 수가 있었더라

25   솔로몬의 병거 메는 말의 외양간은 사천이요 마병은 만 이천 명이라 병거성에도 두고 예루살렘 왕에게도 두었으며

26   솔로몬이 유브라데 강에서부터 블레셋 땅과 애굽 지경까지의 모든 왕을 다스렸으며

27   왕이 예루살렘에서 은을 돌 같이 흔하게 하고 백향목을 평지의 뽕나무 같이 많게 하였더라

28   솔로몬을 위하여 애굽과 각국에서 말들을 가져왔더라

솔로몬이 죽다(왕상 11:41-43)

29   이 외에 솔로몬의 시종 행적은 선지자 나단의 글과 실로 사람 아히야의 예언과 선견자 잇도의 묵시 책 곧 잇도가 느밧의 아들 여로보암에 대하여 쓴 책에 기록되지 아니하였느냐

30   솔로몬이 예루살렘에서 온 이스라엘을 다스린 지 사십 년이라

31   솔로몬이 그의 조상들과 함께 자매 그의 아버지 다윗의 성에 장사되고 그의 아들 르호보암이 대신하여 왕이 되니라

La reina de Sabá visita a Salomón

(1 R. 10.1-13)

1Oyendo la reina de Sabá la fama de Salomón, vino a Jerusalén con un séquito muy grande, con camellos cargados de especias aromáticas, oro en abundancia, y piedras preciosas, para probar a Salomón con preguntas difíciles. Y luego que vino a Salomón, habló con él todo lo que en su corazón tenía. 2Pero Salomón le respondió a todas sus preguntas, y nada hubo que Salomón no le contestase. 3Y viendo la reina de Sabá la sabiduría de Salomón, y la casa que había edificado, 4y las viandas de su mesa, las habitaciones de sus oficiales, el estado de sus criados y los vestidos de ellos, sus maestresalas y sus vestidos, y la escalinata por donde subía a la casa de Jehová, se quedó asombrada.

5Y dijo al rey: Verdad es lo que había oído en mi tierra acerca de tus cosas y de tu sabiduría; 6pero yo no creía las palabras de ellos, hasta que he venido, y mis ojos han visto; y he aquí que ni aun la mitad de la grandeza de tu sabiduría me había sido dicha; porque tú superas la fama que yo había oído. 7Bienaventurados tus hombres, y dichosos estos siervos tuyos que están siempre delante de ti, y oyen tu sabiduría. 8Bendito sea Jehová tu Dios, el cual se ha agradado de ti para ponerte sobre su trono como rey para Jehová tu Dios; por cuanto tu Dios amó a Israel para afirmarlo perpetuamente, por eso te ha puesto por rey sobre ellos, para que hagas juicio y justicia. 9Y dio al rey ciento veinte talentos de oro, y gran cantidad de especias aromáticas, y piedras preciosas; nunca hubo tales especias aromáticas como las que dio la reina de Sabá al rey Salomón.

10También los siervos de Hiram y los siervos de Salomón, que habían traído el oro de Ofir, trajeron madera de sándalo, y piedras preciosas. 11Y de la madera de sándalo el rey hizo gradas en la casa de Jehová y en las casas reales, y arpas y salterios para los cantores; nunca en la tierra de Judá se había visto madera semejante.

12Y el rey Salomón dio a la reina de Sabá todo lo que ella quiso y le pidió, más de lo que ella había traído al rey. Después ella se volvió y se fue a su tierra con sus siervos.

Riquezas y fama de Salomón

(1 R. 10.14-29; 2 Cr. 1.14-17)

13El peso del oro que venía a Salomón cada año, era seiscientos sesenta y seis talentos de oro, 14sin lo que traían los mercaderes y negociantes; también todos los reyes de Arabia y los gobernadores de la tierra traían oro y plata a Salomón. 15Hizo también el rey Salomón doscientos paveses de oro batido, cada uno de los cuales tenía seiscientos siclos de oro labrado; 16asimismo trescientos escudos de oro batido, teniendo cada escudo trescientos siclos de oro; y los puso el rey en la casa del bosque del Líbano. 17Hizo además el rey un gran trono de marfil, y lo cubrió de oro puro. 18El trono tenía seis gradas, y un estrado de oro fijado al trono, y brazos a uno y otro lado del asiento, y dos leones que estaban junto a los brazos. 19Había también allí doce leones sobre las seis gradas, a uno y otro lado. Jamás fue hecho trono semejante en reino alguno. 20Toda la vajilla del rey Salomón era de oro, y toda la vajilla de la casa del bosque del Líbano, de oro puro. En los días de Salomón la plata no era apreciada. 21Porque la flota del rey iba a Tarsis con los siervos de Hiram, y cada tres años solían venir las naves de Tarsis, y traían oro, plata, marfil, monos y pavos reales.

22Y excedió el rey Salomón a todos los reyes de la tierra en riqueza y en sabiduría. 23Y todos los reyes de la tierra procuraban ver el rostro de Salomón, para oír la sabiduría que Dios le había dado. 24Cada uno de estos traía su presente, alhajas de plata, alhajas de oro, vestidos, armas, perfumes, caballos y mulos, todos los años. 25Tuvo también Salomón cuatro mil caballerizas para sus caballos y carros, y doce mil jinetes, los cuales puso en las ciudades de los carros, y con el rey en Jerusalén. 26Y tuvo dominio sobre todos los reyes desde el Éufrates hasta la tierra de los filisteos, y hasta la frontera de Egipto. 27Y acumuló el rey plata en Jerusalén como piedras, y cedros como los cabrahígos de la Sefela en abundancia. 28Traían también caballos para Salomón, de Egipto y de todos los países.

Muerte de Salomón

(1 R. 11.41-43)

29Los demás hechos de Salomón, primeros y postreros, ¿no están todos escritos en los libros del profeta Natán, en la profecía de Ahías silonita, y en la profecía del vidente Iddo contra Jeroboam hijo de Nabat? 30Reinó Salomón en Jerusalén sobre todo Israel cuarenta años. 31Y durmió Salomón con sus padres, y lo sepultaron en la ciudad de David su padre; y reinó en su lugar Roboam su hijo.

The Queen of Sheba

1 Now when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to Jerusalem to test him with hard questions, having a very great retinue and camels bearing spices and very much gold and precious stones. And when she came to Solomon, she told him all that was on her mind. 2And Solomon answered all her questions. There was nothing hidden from Solomon that he could not explain to her. 3And when the queen of Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon, the house that he had built, 4the food of his table, the seating of his officials, and the attendance of his servants, and their clothing, his cupbearers, and their clothing, and his burnt offerings that he offered at the house of the Lord, there was no more breath in her.

5And she said to the king, “The report was true that I heard in my own land of your words and of your wisdom, 6but I did not believe the reports until I came and my own eyes had seen it. And behold, half the greatness of your wisdom was not told me; you surpass the report that I heard. 7Happy are your wives! Happy are these your servants, who continually stand before you and hear your wisdom! 8Blessed be the Lord your God, who has delighted in you and set you on his throne as king for the Lord your God! Because your God loved Israel and would establish them forever, he has made you king over them, that you may execute justice and righteousness.” 9Then she gave the king 120 talents of gold, and a very great quantity of spices, and precious stones. There were no spices such as those that the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.

10Moreover, the servants of Hiram and the servants of Solomon, who brought gold from Ophir, brought algum wood and precious stones. 11And the king made from the algum wood supports for the house of the Lord and for the king’s house, lyres also and harps for the singers. There never was seen the like of them before in the land of Judah.

12And King Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all that she desired, whatever she asked besides what she had brought to the king. So she turned and went back to her own land with her servants.

Solomon’s Wealth

13 Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was 666 talents of gold, 14besides that which the explorers and merchants brought. And all the kings of Arabia and the governors of the land brought gold and silver to Solomon. 15King Solomon made 200 large shields of beaten gold; 600 shekels of beaten gold went into each shield. 16And he made 300 shields of beaten gold; 300 shekels of gold went into each shield; and the king put them in the House of the Forest of Lebanon. 17The king also made a great ivory throne and overlaid it with pure gold. 18The throne had six steps and a footstool of gold, which were attached to the throne, and on each side of the seat were armrests and two lions standing beside the armrests, 19while twelve lions stood there, one on each end of a step on the six steps. Nothing like it was ever made for any kingdom. 20All King Solomon’s drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the House of the Forest of Lebanon were of pure gold. Silver was not considered as anything in the days of Solomon. 21For the king’s ships went to Tarshish with the servants of Hiram. Once every three years the ships of Tarshish used to come bringing gold, silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks.

22Thus King Solomon excelled all the kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom. 23And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom, which God had put into his mind. 24Every one of them brought his present, articles of silver and of gold, garments, myrrh, spices, horses, and mules, so much year by year. 25And Solomon had 4,000 stalls for horses and chariots, and 12,000 horsemen, whom he stationed in the chariot cities and with the king in Jerusalem. 26And he ruled over all the kings from the Euphrates to the land of the Philistines and to the border of Egypt. 27And the king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stone, and he made cedar as plentiful as the sycamore of the Shephelah. 28And horses were imported for Solomon from Egypt and from all lands.

Solomon’s Death

29 Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, from first to last, are they not written in the history of Nathan the prophet, and in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Iddo the seer concerning Jeroboam the son of Nebat? 30Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years. 31And Solomon slept with his fathers and was buried in the city of David his father, and Rehoboam his son reigned in his place.
