제 14 장

유다 왕 아마샤(대하 25:1-24)

1 이스라엘의 왕 여호아하스의 아들 요아스 제이년에 유다의 왕 요아스의 아들 아마샤가 왕이 되니

2 그가 왕이 된 때에 나이 이십오 세라 예루살렘에서 이십구 년간 다스리니라 그의 어머니의 이름은 여호앗단이요 예루살렘 사람이더라

3 아마샤가 여호와 보시기에 정직히 행하였으나 그의 조상 다윗과는 같지 아니하였으며 그의 아버지 요아스가 행한 대로 다 행하였어도

4 오직 산당들을 제거하지 아니하였으므로 백성이 여전히 산당에서 제사를 드리며 분향하였더라

5 나라가 그의 손에 굳게 서매 그의 부왕을 죽인 신복들을 죽였으나

6 왕을 죽인 자의 자녀들은 죽이지 아니하였으니 이는 모세의 율법책에 기록된 대로 함이라 곧 여호와께서 명령하여 이르시기를 자녀로 말미암아 아버지를 죽이지 말 것이요 아버지로 말미암아 자녀를 죽이지 말 것이라 오직 사람마다 자기의 죄로 말미암아 죽을 것이니라 하셨더라

7 아마샤가 소금 골짜기에서 에돔 사람 만 명을 죽이고 또 전쟁을 하여 셀라를 취하고 이름을 욕드엘이라 하였더니 오늘까지 그러하니라

8 아마샤가 예후의 손자 여호아하스의 아들 이스라엘의 왕 요아스에게 사자를 보내 이르되 오라 우리가 서로 대면하자 한지라

9 이스라엘의 왕 요아스가 유다의 왕 아마샤에게 사람을 보내 이르되 레바논 가시나무가 레바논 백향목에게 전갈을 보내어 이르기를 네 딸을 내 아들에게 주어 아내로 삼게 하라 하였더니 레바논 들짐승이 지나가다가 그 가시나무를 짓밟았느니라

10 네가 에돔을 쳐서 파하였으므로 마음이 교만하였으니 스스로 영광을 삼아 왕궁에나 네 집으로 돌아가라 어찌하여 화를 자취하여 너와 유다가 함께 망하고자 하느냐 하나

11 아마샤가 듣지 아니하므로 이스라엘의 왕 요아스가 올라와서 그와 유다의 왕 아마샤가 유다의 벧세메스에서 대면하였더니

12 유다가 이스라엘 앞에서 패하여 각기 장막으로 도망한지라

13 이스라엘 왕 요아스가 벧세메스에서 아하시야의 손자 요아스의 아들 유다 왕 아마샤를 사로잡고 예루살렘에 이르러 예루살렘 성벽을 에브라임 문에서부터 성 모퉁이 문까지 사백 1)규빗을 헐고

14 또 여호와의 성전과 왕궁 곳간에 있는 금 은과 모든 기명을 탈취하고 또 사람을 볼모로 잡고서 사마리아로 돌아갔더라

15 요아스의 남은 사적과 그의 업적과 또 유다의 왕 아마샤와 싸운 일은 이스라엘 왕 역대지략에 기록되지 아니하였느냐

16 요아스가 그의 조상들과 함께 자매 이스라엘 왕들과 사마리아에 함께 장사되고 그의 아들 여로보암이 대신하여 왕이 되니라

유다 왕 아마샤가 죽다(대하 25:25-28)

17 이스라엘의 왕 여호아하스의 아들 요아스가 죽은 후에도 유다의 왕 요아스의 아들 아마샤가 십오 년간을 생존하였더라

18 아마샤의 남은 행적은 유다 왕 역대지략에 기록되지 아니하였느냐

19 예루살렘에서 무리가 그를 반역한 고로 그가 라기스로 도망하였더니 반역한 무리가 사람을 라기스로 따라 보내 그를 거기서 죽이게 하고

20 그 시체를 말에 실어다가 예루살렘에서 그의 조상들과 함께 다윗 성에 장사하니라

21 유다 온 백성이 아사랴를 그의 아버지 아마샤를 대신하여 왕으로 삼으니 그 때에 그의 나이가 십육 세라

22 아마샤가 그의 조상들과 함께 잔 후에 아사랴가 엘랏을 건축하여 유다에 복귀시켰더라

이스라엘 왕 여로보암 2세

23 유다의 왕 요아스의 아들 아마샤 제십오년에 이스라엘의 왕 요아스의 아들 여로보암이 사마리아에서 왕이 되어 사십일 년간 다스렸으며

24 여호와 보시기에 악을 행하여 이스라엘에게 범죄하게 한 느밧의 아들 여로보암의 모든 죄에서 떠나지 아니하였더라

25 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 그의 종 가드헤벨 아밋대의 아들 선지자 요나를 통하여 하신 말씀과 같이 여로보암이 이스라엘 영토를 회복하되 하맛 어귀에서부터 아라바 바다까지 하였으니

26 이는 여호와께서 이스라엘의 고난이 심하여 매인 자도 없고 놓인 자도 없고 이스라엘을 도울 자도 없음을 보셨고

27 여호와께서 또 이스라엘의 이름을 천하에서 없이 하겠다고도 아니하셨으므로 요아스의 아들 여로보암의 손으로 구원하심이었더라

28 여로보암의 남은 사적과 모든 행한 일과 싸운 업적과 다메섹을 회복한 일과 이전에 유다에 속하였던 하맛을 이스라엘에 돌린 일은 이스라엘 왕 역대지략에 기록되지 아니하였느냐

29 여로보암이 그의 조상 이스라엘 왕들과 함께 자고 그의 아들 스가랴가 대신하여 왕이 되니라

En el año segundo de Joás hijo de Joacaz rey de Israel, comenzó a reinar Amasías hijo de Joás rey de Judá. 2. Cuando comenzó a reinar era de veinticinco años, y veintinueve años reinó en Jerusalén; el nombre de su madre fue Joadán, de Jerusalén. 3. Y él hizo lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová, aunque no como David su padre; hizo conforme a todas las cosas que había hecho Joás su padre. 4. Con todo eso, los lugares altos no fueron quitados, porque el pueblo aún sacrificaba y quemaba incienso en esos lugares altos. 5. Y cuando hubo afirmado en sus manos el reino, mató a los siervos que habían dado muerte al rey su padre. 6. Pero no mató a los hijos de los que le dieron muerte, conforme a lo que está escrito en el libro de la ley de Moisés, donde Jehová mandó diciendo: No matarán a los padres por los hijos, ni a los hijos por los padres, sino que cada uno morirá por su propio pecado. 7. Este mató asimismo a diez mil edomitas en el Valle de la Sal, y tomó a Sela en batalla, y la llamó Jocteel, hasta hoy. 8. Entonces Amasías envió mensajeros a Joás hijo de Joacaz, hijo de Jehú, rey de Israel, diciendo: Ven, para que nos veamos las caras. 9. Y Joás rey de Israel envió a Amasías rey de Judá esta respuesta: El cardo que está en el Líbano envió a decir al cedro que está en el Líbano: Da tu hija por mujer a mi hijo. Y pasaron las fieras que están en el Líbano, y hollaron el cardo. 10. Ciertamente has derrotado a Edom, y tu corazón se ha envanecido; gloríate pues, mas quédate en tu casa. ¿Para qué te metes en un mal, para que caigas tú y Judá contigo? 11. Pero Amasías no escuchó; por lo cual subió Joás rey de Israel, y se vieron las caras él y Amasías rey de Judá, en Bet-semes, que es de Judá. 12. Y Judá cayó delante de Israel, y huyeron, cada uno a su tienda. 13. Además Joás rey de Israel tomó a Amasías rey de Judá, hijo de Joás hijo de Ocozías, en Bet-semes; y vino a Jerusalén, y rompió el muro de Jerusalén desde la puerta de Efraín hasta la puerta de la esquina, cuatrocientos codos. 14. Y tomó todo el oro, y la plata, y todos los utensilios que fueron hallados en la casa de Jehová, y en los tesoros de la casa del rey, y a los hijos tomó en rehenes, y volvió a Samaria. 15. In the second year of Joash the son of Joahaz, king of Israel, Amaziah the son of Joash, king of Judah, began to reign. 2. He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jehoaddin of Jerusalem. 3. And he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, yet not like David his father. He did in all things as Joash his father had done. 4. But the high places were not removed; the people still sacrificed and made offerings on the high places. 5. And as soon as the royal power was firmly in his hand, he struck down his servants who had struck down the king his father. 6. But he did not put to death the children of the murderers, according to what is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, where the Lord commanded, “Fathers shall not be put to death because of their children, nor shall children be put to death because of their fathers. But each one shall die for his own sin.” 7. He struck down ten thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt and took Sela by storm, and called it Joktheel, which is its name to this day. 8. Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz, son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, “Come, let us look one another in the face.” 9. And Jehoash king of Israel sent word to Amaziah king of Judah, “A thistle on Lebanon sent to a cedar on Lebanon, saying, ‘Give your daughter to my son for a wife,’ and a wild beast of Lebanon passed by and trampled down the thistle. 10. You have indeed struck down Edom, and your heart has lifted you up. Be content with your glory, and stay at home, for why should you provoke trouble so that you fall, you and Judah with you?” 11. But Amaziah would not listen. So Jehoash king of Israel went up, and he and Amaziah king of Judah faced one another in battle at Beth-shemesh, which belongs to Judah. 12. And Judah was defeated by Israel, and every man fled to his home. 13. And Jehoash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash, son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem for four hundred cubits, from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate. 14. And he seized all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the Lord and in the treasuries of the king’s house, also hostages, and he returned to Samaria. 15. Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash that he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel? 16. And Jehoash slept with his fathers and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel, and Jeroboam his son reigned in his place. 17. Amaziah the son of Joash, king of Judah, lived fifteen years after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel. 18. Now the rest of the deeds of Amaziah, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? 19. And they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish. But they sent after him to Lachish and put him to death there. 20. And they brought him on horses; and he was buried in Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David. 21. And all the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah. 22. He built Elath and restored it to Judah, after the king slept with his fathers. Jeroboam II Reigns in Israel 23. In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash, king of Judah, Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, began to reign in Samaria, and he reigned forty-one years. 24. And he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord. He did not depart from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which he made Israel to sin. 25. He restored the border of Israel from Lebo-hamath as far as the Sea of the Arabah, according to the word of the Lord, the God of Israel, which he spoke by his servant Jonah the son of Amittai, the prophet, who was from Gath-hepher. 26. For the Lord saw that the affliction of Israel was very bitter, for there was none left, bond or free, and there was none to help Israel. 27. But the Lord had not said that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, so he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash. 28. Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam and all that he did, and his might, how he fought, and how he restored Damascus and Hamath to Judah in Israel, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel? 29. And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, the kings of Israel, and Zechariah his son reigned in his place.

E hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, y no se apartó de todos los pecados de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, el que hizo pecar a Israel.
Él restauró los límites de Israel desde la entrada de Hamat hasta el mar del Arabá, conforme a la palabra de Jehová Dios de Israel, la cual él había hablado por su siervo Jonás hijo de Amitai, profeta que fue de Gat-hefer.
Porque Jehová miró la muy amarga aflicción de Israel; que no había siervo ni libre, ni quien diese ayuda a Israel;
y Jehová no había determinado raer el nombre de Israel de debajo del cielo; por tanto, los salvó por mano de Jeroboam hijo de Joás.

Amaziah Reigns in Judah

In the second year of Joash the son of Joahaz, king of Israel, Amaziah the son of Joash, king of Judah, began to reign.
He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jehoaddin of Jerusalem.
And he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, yet not like David his father. He did in all things as Joash his father had done.
But the high places were not removed; the people still sacrificed and made offerings on the high places.
And as soon as the royal power was firmly in his hand, he struck down his servants who had struck down the king his father.
But he did not put to death the children of the murderers, according to what is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, where the Lord commanded, “Fathers shall not be put to death because of their children, nor shall children be put to death because of their fathers. But each one shall die for his own sin.”
He struck down ten thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt and took Sela by storm, and called it Joktheel, which is its name to this day.
Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz, son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, “Come, let us look one another in the face.”
And Jehoash king of Israel sent word to Amaziah king of Judah, “A thistle on Lebanon sent to a cedar on Lebanon, saying, ‘Give your daughter to my son for a wife,’ and a wild beast of Lebanon passed by and trampled down the thistle.
You have indeed struck down Edom, and your heart has lifted you up. Be content with your glory, and stay at home, for why should you provoke trouble so that you fall, you and Judah with you?”
But Amaziah would not listen. So Jehoash king of Israel went up, and he and Amaziah king of Judah faced one another in battle at Beth-shemesh, which belongs to Judah.
And Judah was defeated by Israel, and every man fled to his home.
And Jehoash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash, son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem for four hundred cubits, from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate.
And he seized all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the Lord and in the treasuries of the king’s house, also hostages, and he returned to Samaria.
Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash that he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
And Jehoash slept with his fathers and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel, and Jeroboam his son reigned in his place.
Amaziah the son of Joash, king of Judah, lived fifteen years after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel.
Now the rest of the deeds of Amaziah, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?
And they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish. But they sent after him to Lachish and put him to death there.
And they brought him on horses; and he was buried in Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.
And all the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.
He built Elath and restored it to Judah, after the king slept with his fathers.

Jeroboam II Reigns in Israel
In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash, king of Judah, Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, began to reign in Samaria, and he reigned forty-one years.
And he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord. He did not depart from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which he made Israel to sin.
He restored the border of Israel from Lebo-hamath as far as the Sea of the Arabah, according to the word of the Lord, the God of Israel, which he spoke by his servant Jonah the son of Amittai, the prophet, who was from Gath-hepher.
For the Lord saw that the affliction of Israel was very bitter, for there was none left, bond or free, and there was none to help Israel.
But the Lord had not said that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, so he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.
Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam and all that he did, and his might, how he fought, and how he restored Damascus and Hamath to Judah in Israel, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, the kings of Israel, and Zechariah his son reigned in his place.
